    • Jesús Luzardo out 4-6 weeks with back ailment
Marlins placed LHP Jesús Luzardo on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 19, with a lumbar stress reaction.

Advice: Luzardo finds himself on the injured list for the second time this season and the timing is tricky with the trade deadline looming large in a couple weeks. The 26-year-old southpaw is expected to be one of the most highly-coveted names at the deadline, but it’s going to take a considerable haul to pry him away from Miami since he won’t be a free agent until 2027. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker told reporters Luzardo is expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks, which puts his potential return sometime after next month’s All-Star break. • Headed to injured list
The Marlins placed Luzardo on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to a lumbar stress reaction.

Advice: Though he battled a stiff back in his most recent outing this past Sunday in Washington, Luzardo had been listed as the Marlins' starter for Saturday's game versus the Mariners. The southpaw evidently didn't bounce back as well from the back injury as the team had hoped, and he's since been scratched from the start and placed on the IL. Miami has recalled Shaun Anderson from Triple-A Jacksonville to make a spot start Saturday in Luzardo's stead. The 26-year-old will be eligible to return from the IL on July 4, but it's unclear if he'll be ready to go by that time. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:10 am

    • Earns third straight win
Montgomery (6-4) earned the win against the Phillies on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Montgomery tossed two scoreless innings before surrendering a two-run home run to Trea Turner in the third. He responded with three straight scoreless innings and left the game with a 4-2 lead after throwing 83 pitches. Montgomery earned his third consecutive win while registering his first quality start in June, but he has not reached 90 pitches in an outing since May 19. On the season, Montgomery owns a 5.71 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB over 63 innings and lines up to face the Twins next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:32 pm
    • Jesus Luzardo (back) won’t start Saturday
Jesus Luzardo (back) won’t start for the Marlins on Saturday, according to Daniel Alvarez-Montes.

Advice: Luzardo has dealt with back stiffness and will miss his scheduled start on Saturday. It’s yet to be determined if Luzardo is just having his start pushed back or if he’ll require a stint on the injured list. Rotoworld Friday, 11:30 am

    • Missing Saturday's start
Luzardo (back) won't start Saturday's game against the Mariners, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo experienced back tightness in his last start and was pulled after 77 pitches and showed decreased velocity. While the Marlins initially listed Luzardo as their probable pitcher Saturday, they'll refrain from putting the 26-year-old lefty on the mound against Seattle and give him some extra rest. For now, Luzardo is scheduled to make his next start during a four-game series at Philadelphia next week. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:26 am

    • Good to go for Saturday's start
The Marlins list Luzardo (back) as their probable pitcher for Saturday's game against the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Luzardo pitched with some back stiffness in his last outing in Sunday's loss to the Nationals, getting pulled after five innings and 77 pitches while displaying decreased velocity. He's evidently bounced back fine, though, and appears good to go this weekend for a matchup against Seattle at home. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:57 am

    • Posts another quality start
Ryan allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Advice: Ryan gave up a third-inning solo homer to Isaac Paredes but otherwise kept the Rays off the scoreboard. The right-handed hurler racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes, though he finished with a modest five punchouts. Ryan recorded his third straight quality start and his 11th of the season, which is tied for fifth in the majors. He's complemented that total with a 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 95:15 K:BB over 92 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:04 pm

    • Joe Ryan pitches well in no-decision vs. Rays
Joe Ryan was terrific in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday evening, surrendering just one run on six hits over his six innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out five batters on the night while allowing only one base on balls. The lone tally against him came on a 359-foot solo blast off the bat of Isaac Paredes in the third inning. Ryan generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 94 pitches in the ballgame — 12 of those on his fastball — while registering a strong CSW of 36 percent. The right-hander will carry a terrific 3.13 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 95/15 K/BB ratio (92 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:57 pm

    • Logan Webb settles for no-decision against Cubs
Logan Webb allowed two runs over seven innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: Webb coughed up a two-run homer to Dansby Swanson in the second inning on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field, but managed to keep Chicago’s potent lineup off the scoreboard into the late stages of this one. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The 27-year-old righty has completed six frames in eight consecutive starts since May 10. He’ll bring a solid 2.99 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 82/21 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (16 starts) into a rematch on Monday against the Cubs back at Oracle Park. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:55 am
