    • Fans four in return
Cabrera yielded two runs on four hits and a walk in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during Miami's win over the White Sox.

Advice: Cabrera made his first MLB appearance since May 7 after a two-month stint on the IL due to a shoulder issue. He looked solid through three scoreless frames before coughing up a two-run homer to Danny Mendick in the fourth inning. Cabrera walked just one batter but struggled to command the strike zone, throwing just 47 of 82 pitches for strikes. He's now sporting a 6.84 ERA with a 35:15 K:BB through 25 innings. Cabrera's next outing is projected to be in Cincinnati. Rotowire.com Today, 6:51 pm
    • Bobby Witt Jr. headlines A.L. All-Star reserves
Bobby Witt Jr. was named to his first American League All-Star team on Sunday.

Advice: It’s the first of what should be many All-Star nominations for the 24-year-old superstar shortstop. Witt has been outstanding this season, slashing .324/.372/.564 with 15 homers, 61 RBI, 72 runs scored and 22 stolen bases. He’ll be joined on the American League squad by fellow reserves Salvador Perez, Carlos Correa, Rafael Devers, Marcus Semien, Kyle Tucker, Josh Naylor, Isaac Paredes, Jarren Duran, Riley Greene and David Fry. • Bobby Witt Jr. goes 3-for-5, hits three-run homer
Bobby Witt Jr. went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer as the Royals crushed the Rockies 10-1 on Sunday.

Advice: Witt slumped just a bit over the second half of June, but he’s now collected 15 hits, including three homers, in his last seven games, pushing his OPS back up to .936. He’s second in the majors with a .324 average and tied for second with 72 runs scored. Rotoworld Today, 2:46 pm
    • Cabrera solid in first start off IL
Edward Cabrera allowed two runs on four hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

Advice: This was Cabrera’s first start in over two months, so the abbreviated outing was part of the plan. The right-hander started the game with 3 2/3 shutout innings, striking out four. He then allowed a single and a two-run home run to Danny Mendick, before Marlins’ manager Skip Schumaker decided to remove Cabrera from the game. However, Cabrera was able to induce 14 whiffs on 35 swings for a 40 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. He also had just a 38 percent zone rate on the day, which will always be part of the issue with the 26-year-old. He has great stuff, but the command is iffy, which makes him a risky streamer. • Receiving breather Sunday
Contreras is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Contreras started the past 12 games after missing one contest due to a head injury, and he'll take a seat Sunday after he posted a .319/.396/.468 slash line during that stretch. It's just his fourth game out of the lineup this season. Eric Haase will step in behind the plate to catch for veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel. Rotowire.com Today, 12:28 pm
    • Taking seat with sore knee
Alvarez (knee) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, Astros manager Joe Espada said that Alvarez's right knee is still "pretty sore" after the 26-year-old was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning of Saturday's 9-3 loss. Alvarez was ultimately removed from Saturday's contest in the eighth inning, and he'll now miss out on a start for the first time since June 19 while he receives treatment for the knee. Espada seemed to downplay the injury and suggested that Alvarez could hit in the batting cage Sunday, though the Astros could still look to stay away from Alvarez in the series finale even if a potential pinch-hitting situation emerges. After Sunday's game, the Astros are off Monday before kicking off a three-game series with the Marlins on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:13 am

    • Timely knock in big win
Gelof went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in a win over the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Gelof contributed to the Athletics' astounding seven-run second inning, lacing a two-bagger to left field that plated Brent Rooker and Shea Langeliers. The 24-year-old is enduring a tougher-than-expected second big-league season after setting high expectations a rookie in 2023, but he's showing a bit of life at the plate of late with a .257 average and .794 OPS across 41 plate appearances in his last 10 games. Nevertheless, his Achilles heel continues to be consistent contact -- even during that encouraging stretch, Gelof has struck out at a bloated 39.0 percent clip. Rotowire.com Today, 8:46 am

    • Yordan Alvarez out with knee issue Sunday
Yordan Alvarez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Twins due to a right knee contusion.

Advice: Alvarez was pulled from the loss to Minnesota on Saturday after he was plunked in the knee. The 27-year-old slugger will at least begin Sunday’s game on the bench as a precaution with Mauricio Dubon in left field and Yainer Diaz the designated hitter. For now, Alvarez should be considered day-to-day. Rotoworld Today, 8:35 am

    • Back from IL, starting Sunday
The Marlins reinstated Cabrera (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list, and he'll start Sunday's series finale versus the White Sox in Miami, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Advice: Cabrera will pick up his first start with the Marlins since May 7 after missing two months while recovering from a right shoulder impingement. Prior to being activated, Cabrera completed three rehab starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. Though he covered no more than four innings in any of those outings, he topped out at 67 pitches in his most recent rehab start this past Sunday, so he shouldn't face any major restrictions with his workload as he takes the hill for the big club. Cabrera went 1-2 with a 7.17 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB across 21.1 innings in five starts before landing on the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 8:06 am
