Jansen has been scored upon only once in his last 14 appearances, racking up two wins and 10 saves on 10 chances over that stretch with a 0.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 14.2 innings. The 36-year-old isn't as dominant as he was during his Dodgers heyday, but Jansen is still finding ways to be effective and has yet to serve up a home run in 2024.       Michael Kopech slammed the door on the Marlins on Friday night, navigating a tumultuous ninth inning to preserve a one-run victory.

      Advice: The 28-year-old hurler picked up his eighth save of the season for his efforts. As always, it wasn’t easy for Kopech, as he allowed a leadoff walk to Xavier Edwards to bring the tying run to the plate. He battled back though to get Vidal Brujan to bounce into a fielder’s choice and Nick Gordon on a called third strike before allowing a single to Jazz Chisholm Jr. and an RBI single to Bryan De La Cruz. Not to worry though, as he bore down to get Josh Bell on a ground ball to first base to end it. Kopech now sports a 4.58 ERA on the season to go with eight saves in 12 chances.       According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Luis Gil’s recent struggles could be impacted by an inconsistent release point.

      Advice: Boone said that the Yankees have noticed that Gil’s recent point has been inconsistent of late. That could be tied to fatigue since he’s pitching more innings than he ever has before or it could simply be a mechanical issue with an easy fix. The inconsistent release point could also be leading Gil to tip some of his pitches, which might provide more context to why the Orioles were able to pounce on his fastball so much in his recent start. It should also be noted that Gil is making many non-competitive pitches and leaving pitches over the heart of the plate, so the release point isn’t the only issue to be fixed, but it might be one that can be addressed soon.       Cabrera (shoulder) was spotted in the Marlins' clubhouse Thursday and could be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Sunday versus the White Sox, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The Marlins said previously that Cabrera would make one more rehab start. However, the club has an opening in its rotation Sunday after optioning Valente Bellozo, and that's the first day Cabrera is eligible for activation. Cabrera -- who has been out since early May with a right shoulder impingement -- has posted a 4.50 ERA and 15:4 K:BB over 10 innings in three rehab starts.       Kopech (2-7) allowed one hit and one earned run across 0.2 innings and took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians.

      Advice: Kopech entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6. He allowed a leadoff single and threw a wild pitch to put the runner on third base before allowing a sacrifice fly to bring in the game-winning run for Cleveland.       Cease (7-7) took the loss Tuesday, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.2 innings as the Padres fell 7-0 to the Rangers. He struck out five.

      Advice: The right-hander got no help from his offense, but Cease created his own problems by serving up six extra-base hits, including a pair of homers by Nathaniel Lowe. Cease has been tagged for four runs or more in three of his last four starts, walking multiple batters each time. He'll take a 4.24 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 130:32 K:BB through 102 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Diamondbacks. The southpaw did collect his 12th quality start of the season, and he'll take a 2.45 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 119:20 K:BB through 103 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.
