      Advice: Stone was spectacular Wednesday, matching his season high with seven strikeouts en route to recording the first complete game of his major-league career. The right-hander retired the side in order in five of his nine frames and didn't allow a runner to reach second base outside of a leadoff double from Gavin Sheets to open the second. Stone has now won each of his last five decisions (spanning six starts) and has also posted at least six strikeouts in five of his last six outings.       Advice: Stone made perhaps his best start of his career Wednesday against the White Sox, going a career-high nine scoreless innings for his first complete-game shutout. He scattered four hits and did not walk a batter, tossing 73-of-103 pitches for strikes with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander has been outstanding on the season, posting a 2.73 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 70/25 K/BB ratio across 89 innings.       Alec Burleson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in the Cardinals’ 4-1 win over the Braves on Wednesday.

      Advice: With two runners on and two outs in the third inning, Burleson brought both runners in to score on a double off Bryce Elder. He doubled once again in the eighth for his second hit of the game. The 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .289/.321/.478 with 12 homers, 36 RBI, and five steals across 264 plate appearances.       Advice: By his lofty standards this season, this wasn't a great performance for Lopez, but it was still enough for his third straight win. He hadn't allowed a run over his last two starts, and he's walked multiple batters just twice in his last seven outings.       Reynaldo López defeated the Cardinals by allowing two runs in five innings in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

      Advice: López certainly wasn’t at his sharpest today, but the Cardinals came away with just one run each time they loaded the bases against him. The Braves had bullpen help ready to go the latter time, when Brendon Donovan was up with two outs in the fifth.       Advice: Estévez came up one batter shy of completing a closer’s perfect game; he’d retired 26 straight over nine outings before giving up a single to Tyler Soderstrom tonight.
