• Early exit with injury
Hernaiz was pinch-run for and limped off the field after stepping awkwardly on first base Tuesday against Texas, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hernaiz's day will be done after sustaining what appeared to be a lower left leg injury trying to beat out an infield hit in the second inning. While he managed to beat the throw, Hernaiz was replaced by Max Schuemann and won't return to Tuesday's contest. The A's have a double-header with the Rangers on Wednesday then will have a day off before a three-game set against the Mariners. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Wenceel Pérez returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Guards
Wenceel Pérez (illness) has returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Guardians.

Advice: Pérez is back in center field and batting second for Tuesday’s contest at Progressive Field following a two-game absence due to illness. The 24-year-old has gotten off to an encouraging start in his big-league debut, batting .296 with three homers and two steals in 19 games since being called up back in early April. • Taking batting practice
Thomas (knee) will take full batting practice on the field Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: It will be his first time doing so since he went down with a left MCL sprain in his knee two weeks ago. Thomas will need to do some running and other drills before being cleared for a rehab assignment, but he seems to be making nice progress. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Status uncertain following setback
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Thomas is headed back to Phoenix to be reevaluated after feeling renewed discomfort in his left hamstring while on a rehab assignment, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Thomas had appeared poised to be activated from the 10-day injured list soon, but now his status is cloudy again following a setback. He first injured the hamstring back on March 31 and had played four rehab games with Triple-A Reno. More clarity on Thomas' situation should be available later this week. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Grayson Rodriguez unlikely to require rehab start
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) continued playing catch on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodriguez expressed optimism to reporters that he could return to Baltimore’s starting rotation following a minimum stay on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. It certainly doesn’t sound like there are any long-term concerns with the 24-year-old burgeoning ace. He should be able to jump right back into the Orioles’ stacked rotation mix by mid-May without a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
