      Craig Kimbrel picked up the save against the White Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: With the bases loaded and a five-run lead in the ninth inning, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde went to Yennier Cano for what was an unconventional save opportunity. Cano hit Andrew Vaughn and allowed a two run single to Gavin Sheets to make it a two-run game. After striking out Zach DeLoach, Cano was removed in favor of Kimbrel, who got Andrew Benintendi to pop into a double play.     • Rare multi-hit effort Wednesday
      Gelof went 2-for-5 with a game-tying RBI single in an extra-innings loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

      Advice: After knotting the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth with his timely knock, Gelof also drove in Shea Langeliers during the 12th but didn't get credited with an RBI since it was a double-play groundout. Nevertheless, Gelof did extend his on-base streak to four games with his multi-hit effort, his first since April 21. Despite the recent modest success, Gelof's slash line sits at a paltry .192/.260/.308 across 132 plate appearances, with a strikeout rate that's shot up from a rookie figure of 27.3 percent to 34.1 percent partly to blame for his struggles.     • Tosses quality start for fourth win
      King (4-4) picked up the win Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 7-3 victory over the Reds. He struck out six.

      Advice: The right-hander delivered his fifth quality start of the year, and his third in four May outings, on 92 pitches (62 strikes). King has had trouble maintaining consistency as he adjusts to being a full-time starting pitcher, but his 3.24 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 25 innings this month is encouraging.       Correa went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Correa extended Minnesota's lead to 2-0 with two outs in the sixth inning with a solo shot off Jake Irvin, his fourth of the year and second in three days. The 29-year-old Correa has a hit in five straight games, going 5-for-17 with a 1.133 OPS in that span.       Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional RBI and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Realmuto has generated a hit in 12 consecutive games and has reached via hit multiple times in six of those contests. However, Wednesday's solo homer off Dane Dunning was his first of that stretch and his three RBI were his most since April.       J.T. Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a homer, three RBI, and two runs scored in the Phillies’ 11-4 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Realmuto put the Phillies ahead early with his home run off Dane Dunning and then broke the game open with a two-run single late. The ageless wonder is having a fantastic age-33 season with seven homers and a .283 average in the early going. That would be Realmuto’s highest batting average since 2016.     • Michael King posts quality start in win over Reds
      Michael King logged a quality start in Wednesday’s victory over the Reds, allowing three runs on three hits over his 6 2/3 frames.

      Advice: King struck out six batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. The inconsistent right-hander has made a habit of winning in tough spots this year, and against the Reds in Cincinnati would certainly qualify. He served up a solo homer to Jeimer Candelario in the opening inning, then gave up a two-out, two-run double to Tyler Stephenson in the six. King generated 12 swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night — eight of those on his changeup — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 67/28 K/BB ratio (61 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Marlins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:54 pm

    • Triston McKenzie gives up three homers to Mets
      Triston McKenzie gave up three runs — all of them on solo homers — over five innings Wednesday versus the Mets.

      Advice: Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil and Harrison Bader hit the homers. McKenzie averaged a season-low 89.7 mph with his fastball today, down from 91.0 previously and 92.4 mph before he hurt his elbow last year.       McKenzie did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: McKenzie didn't appear to have his best stuff Wednesday, as he'd allow three solo homers before departing with a 3-0 deficit in the sixth inning. However, the Guardians would rally for six unanswered runs in an eventual victory, sparing McKenzie the loss. Still, it's the first time in seven starts that McKenzie's allowed more than two earned runs -- he came into the day with a 2.10 ERA over his prior six outings. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander sports a 3.44 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 10 starts (52.1 innings) this season.
