      Contreras went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Contreras had a monster game against the Nationals, contributing in all facets and extended a hitting streak to six games in Sunday's win. He clubbed his ninth home run of the season and his third in his last six games. The veteran had his first three RBI game of the season and picked up his third stolen base in the process.     • Gets walked off Sunday
      Hader (3-5) took the loss Sunday against the Twins, allowing a solo home run without recording an out.

      Advice: Hader entered with the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth. He served up a solo shot to Christian Vazquez, which gave the Twins the walk-off win. This is the fourth time in six outings that Hader has given up a run -- all of which have been on homers -- though he hasn't taken a blown save since April 2. He's at a 4.15 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:11 K:BB through 39 innings while converting 15 of 16 save chances this season. Since his missteps have rarely resulted in trouble so far, Hader's security as the Astros' closer remains high, but his recent struggles with the long ball are reminiscent of his awful second half of 2022, which is at least worth keeping an eye on for fantasy purposes.     • Josh Hader blows save, takes 5th loss of season
      Josh Hader allowed one run on one hit without recording an out in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

      Advice: Hader was brought into a tie game and allowed a game-winning home run to Christian Vazquez. Hader now has a 4.15 ERA to go along with 15 saves on the season. It’s unlikely that Houston will give him competition for the closer’s role, but it hasn’t been a great first season in Houston for the left-hander who now has two blown saves and five losses on the year.     • Sean Manaea strong again across six innings
      Sean Manaea shut the Pirates out over six innings on Sunday. He struck out six, walked three, and allowed just two hits.

      Advice: Manaea had a rocky start to this game going to multiple three-ball counts in the first inning and throwing 40 pitches total over the first two. Then, he locked in and faced just two batters over the minimum over the rest of his outing. The Pirates had zero left-handed batters in their lineup against the southpaw Manaea and he responded with a heavy diet of sinkers and sweepers. He seemed to make an adjustment with his sweeper too: it was down two ticks and had significantly more depth than usual. He even said, “it felt more like a curveball today” when talking about the pitch after the game. It all worked and Manaea has allowed just one earned run across his last three starts.       Manaea yielded two hits, three walks and struck out six over six shutout frames but did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Pirates.

      Advice: Manaea had another strong outing, picking up back-to-back quality starts for the first time since 2022. The left-hander did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth, when Ke'Bryan Hayes reached on an infield hit.     • Willson Contreras smacks another home run in win
      Willson Contreras went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the Cardinals’ 8-3 win over the Nationals on Sunday.

      Advice: Contreras has picked up right where he left off since returning from the IL. His home run was scorched at 108.9 MPH and even his single was sizzled at 105.4 MPH.     • Heading out for rehab assignment
      Pirates general manager Ben Cherington said Sunday that he anticipates Bednar (oblique) reporting to Triple-A Indianapolis this week to begin a rehab assignment, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

      Advice: Bednar has been on the 15-day injured list since June 23 with a left oblique strain, but he's on the cusp of a return after he threw a 21-pitch live batting practice session Saturday without incident. Cherington didn't say whether Bednar would require more than one rehab appearance with Indianapolis, but with the All-Star break looming, it wouldn't be surprising if the Pirates waited until the start of their second-half schedule July 19 before activating their closer.
