    • Set to return next week
Soriano (abdomen) is expected to start one of the Angels' contests in Oakland during a three-game series that begins July 2, per MLB.com.

Advice: Soriano landed on the injured list June 20 with an infection in his abdomen, and the team believes he will be ready to return after the minimum 15-day stay. Since the move to the injured list was retroactive to June 17, that means the right-hander can be activated as soon as July 2. Soriano has been throwing from 120 feet as well as playing long toss in preparation for a return. Rotowire.com Today, 11:54 am

    • Ian Anderson (elbow) starting Sunday at Low-A
Ian Anderson (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start on Sunday for Low-A Augusta.

Advice: Anderson continues to work his way back from last April’s Tommy John surgery and figures to be an option for Atlanta’s starting rotation at some point following the All-Star break in a couple weeks. Rotoworld Today, 11:29 am

    • Ben Brown (neck) throwing bullpen on Saturday
Ben Brown (neck) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: Brown has resumed throwing just a couple weeks after landing on the shelf with a neck strain. The 24-year-old righty appeared to be putting it all together this season with a pristine 3.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 64/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (15 appearances, eight starts) before hitting the injured list. He’s worth stashing in deeper mixed leagues until he’s ready to return in a couple weeks. Rotoworld Today, 10:24 am

    • Slated for rehab start Tuesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Mata (shoulder) felt good after his rehab start Thursday, and the right-hander will start again for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: In his first rehab outing for Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Mata allowed two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two over 2.2 frames. He opened the season on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, but he has been dealing with lat and shoulder soreness since May. Mata is out of minor-league options, and the 25-year-old right-hander is expected to work as a reliever out of Boston's bullpen once his rehab program is complete. • Guardians finalize one-year deal with Matthew Boyd
Guardians signed LHP Matthew Boyd to a one-year contract; placed him on the 15-day injured list.

Advice: The deal, which was reported earlier this week, is now official. Boyd is almost exactly 12 months removed from last year’s Tommy John surgery and figures to be able to bolster Cleveland’s pitching mix at some point in the second half of the season as either a traditional starter or multi-inning reliever. The 33-year-old southpaw was effective, when healthy, over the last three years in stint with the Mariners and Tigers. Rotoworld Today, 9:45 am
    • Guardians designate Zak Kent for assignment
Guardians designated RHP Zak Kent for assignment.

Advice: Kent has been removed from Cleveland’s 40-man roster to make room for newly-signed lefty Matthew Boyd. The 26-year-old was picked up back in March in a small trade with the Rangers and hasn’t made an appearance for the Guardians yet. Rotoworld Today, 9:42 am

    • Placed on IL
