      Jordan Romano has been shut down from throwing due to renewed right elbow soreness.

      Advice: Not good. Romano has been out since late May recovering from a right elbow issue and the fact that he’s still experiencing soreness isn’t good. The issue cropped up during a long-tossing session on Friday and the Blue Jays have shut him down for the moment to determine his next steps.       Advice: Phillips cruised to the save on 11 pitches, punching out two of the three batters he faced. It was the fifth straight scoreless and hitless outing for the closer, who has allowed an earned run in only two of his 21 appearances this season.       Robert Suarez fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Phillies to record his 18th save of the season.

      Advice: Suarez got the call to protect a three-run margin in the ninth inning on Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia and needed just 13 pitches (nine strikes) to end the contest. He struck out Brandon Marsh to open the frame and got Edmundo Sosa to line out before coaxing a game-ending ground out from David Dahl. The 33-year-old righty has converted 17 of 18 save opportunities this season and boasts a microscopic 1.21 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 28/6 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings (29 appearances).       Suarez (4-1) took a blown save and the loss in a 4-3 defeat to the Phillies on Tuesday, allowing two runs on four hits in one-third of an inning.

      Advice: Suarez coaxed a flyout from Trea Turner for the final out in the eighth inning before the right-hander surrendered four straight hits in the ninth, ultimately allowing two runs to take his first loss and blown save this season.
