  • David Wright (neck) back in Thursday's lineup
David Wright (neck) is back in Thursday's lineup against the Braves.

Advice: That was the expectation already, but it's now official. Wright has been sidelined since Sunday due to neck spasms and a couple of days off is probably a good thing for his shoulder. He's still hoping to finish out the season strong even though he's not 100 percent. Rotoworld.com

  • Chase Headley goes hitless in loss
Chase Headley went hitless in Thursday's loss and is hitting .220 in 82 at-bats this month.

Advice: Headley's Yankees career got off to a nice start, but he's cooled off in a big way in August, hitting one homer and knocking in six runs in 24 games. Fortunately for him, his defense has been so strong that there's very little chance of the Yankees taking him out of the lineup. Rotoworld.com

David Wright (neck) is expected to be in the Mets' lineup Thursday against the Braves.

Advice: It's not official yet, as he's waiting for the doctors to clear him, but he reported improvement after taking batting practice. Wright hasn't played since leaving Sunday's game due to neck spasms and is also dealing with a nagging shoulder issue. Rotoworld.com

  • Gallo slugs 41st home run
Rangers prospect 3B Joey Gallo went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday for Double-A Frisco.

Advice: The home run was Gallo's 41st of the season and his first since Aug. 17. Even though he's clubbed 20 bombs in Double-A, the rest of Gallo's numbers have regressed at the more advanced level, evidenced by his .235/.328/.529 batting line and 109-31 strikeout-to-walk through 64 games. However, that shouldn't completely detract from the left-handed slugger's outstanding season, as he still owns a solid .274/.393/.621 batting line to go along with 63 extra-base hits and 101 RBI over 122 games between the High- and Double-A levels. • Castellanos triples in a run in loss to NYY
Nick Castellanos went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple, but the Tigers lost 8-4 to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Castellanos tripled in a run in the bottom of the eighth, shortening the Tigers' deficit to 8-3, but by then the Tigers were nearly out of time for a comeback. The third baseman has been hitting well lately, as he's on a six-game hitting streak with a .360 batting average in that span of time. Overall, he has a .263/.312/.415 line with 10 home runs and 56 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Valbuena homers, but Cubs drop game vs. Reds
Luis Valbuena walked and hit a solo home run in four at-bats in the Cubs' 7-5 loss to the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Valbuena belted a solo home run to right field off of Mat Latos, the first of back-to-back home runs with Jorge Soler. The third baseman has hit three home runs in his last seven games, giving him 13 on the season along with 43 RBI and a .241/.322/.428 slash line. Rotoworld.com

Wilmer Flores finished 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run, but the Mets were handed a 3-2 loss by the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Flores tied the game up at 1-1 when he belted a Julio Teheran offering to left-center in the second inning. The 23-year-old has otherwise had little to write home about offensively this season, slashing .224/.258/.301 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 164 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com

Danny Valencia hit a three-run homer off the bench Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: It was Valencia's first homer since arriving in Toronto, but he's batting .308 in 65 at-bats since being acquired from the Royals. The homer off Junichi Tazawa was his first against a right-hander. He entered the night hitting .360/.408/.494 with two homers against lefties and .212/.256/.271 versus righties. Rotoworld.com

Evan Longoria finished with three singles in four at-bats in the Rays' 3-1 win against the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Longoria neither scored a run nor knocked in a run, but he was the only player on either side with a three-hit night in what was a low-offense contest. The third baseman is slashing .255/.325/.394 with 16 home runs and 74 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Wright admits that shoulder is still an issue
David Wright admitted on Tuesday that his left shoulder is not 100 percent.

Advice: Wright has denied in the past that he's still nursing the shoulder injury that originally cropped up in late June. However, after hitting coach Lamar Johnson said in an interview Tuesday that Wright is still ailing, the third baseman didn't deny it, but he also refused to blame it for his struggles. "Everybody has an opinion,'' Wright said. "Lamar sees me on a daily basis. Is the shoulder 100 percent? No. But that takes rest, and that's what the offseason's for. But is that the reason that I'm struggling the way I'm struggling? No. So, I think it's not a reasonable assessment as to why I'm playing poorly.'' Wright, who is also battling a minor neck ailment, is hitting .244/.306/.315 with just two homers over 44 games since the injury. It's hard to believe that he'll be a reliable fantasy option during the final month. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Alvarez exited Tuesday's game due to sprain between two toes on his left foot. It's not clear at this point how serious the injury might be, but the fact that he's wearing a walking boot certainly isn't a good sign. Alvarez entered play Tuesday with three homers in his last three games before going hitless in three at-bats. If he's out a while, Ike Davis and Gaby Sanchez will handle first base. Rotoworld.com

  • Mets hitting coach says Wright still has pain
Mets hitting coach Lamar Johnson told SNY.TV's Robert Brender that David Wright is still dealing with pain in his left shoulder.

Advice: Wright is hitting just .215 with a .489 OPS since the All-Star break and is currently riding a career-long 143 at-bat home run-less streak, but he insists that the shoulder isn't an issue and that he's healthy enough to play. However, Johnson seems to have a different opinion on the matter. "When your shoulder is hurt, it's really tough," said Johnson. "It's hurt in his left shoulder and that's where your swing starts, with your left side, your left hand getting to the ball. It's been tough because he's been trying to play through that. It's just been a real tough haul because it's hard to get a consistent swing when you're in pain." Even if the pain has subsided, many have speculated that Wright changed his swing to compensate for the discomfort and that he hasn't been able to get back to where he was before. Even with his long track record, it's hard to count on him in fantasy leagues right now. Rotoworld.com

On the season, Gallo is batting .281/.401/.642 with 40 home runs, 19 doubles, 98 RBI, 92 runs, while his respective 33.3% and 16.1% strikeout and walk rates represent improvements compared to his 2013 full-season debut.
