    • Rockies jettison Montero off 40-man roster
Rockies designated INF Elehuris Montero for assignment.

Advice: Montero is removed from the 40-man roster as well as the active one with Elias Diaz coming off the injured list Sunday. Montero was ineffective to say the least in 2024 with a .205 average and .571 OPS while providing no defensive value whatsoever. It’s possible a team will put a claim in on Montero hoping to unlock his upside, but it’d be a mistake to do the same on fantasy rosters. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:26 am

    • Cast off 40-man roster
The Rockies designated Montero for assignment Sunday.

Advice: After popping 11 home runs in 307 plate appearances with the Rockies in 2023 and securing an everyday role coming out of camp this spring, Montero looked to be an attractive late-round target in drafts. Unfortunately for his fantasy managers, Montero quickly fell out of favor, and he didn't show any signs of improvements after regaining playing time once injuries began to pile up for the Rockies. Even with Kris Bryant (oblique) still stuck on the 10-day injured list, the Rockies didn't have room for Montero as a backup option at first base or designated hitter with the team needing to clear a spot for catcher Elias Diaz's (calf) return from the IL. The 25-year-old Montero, who had posted a .474 OPS in June and a .205/.267/.304 slash line over 247 plate appearances on the season, has no minor-league options remaining, so he would need to be carried on the 26-man active roster if another team trades for him or claims him off waivers. • Homers in victory Saturday
Busch went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 win against Milwaukee.

Advice: Busch helped Chicago get off to a fast start by belting a two-run homer in the first inning. The long ball was just his second of June, though he's hit well outside of the power department with a .310 average over 24 contests. Busch has reached base via hit or walk in 21 of 24 games this month, and two of the three times he didn't do so were contests in which he didn't start. Rotowire.com Saturday, 9:57 pm

    • Michael Busch hits two-run homer in win over MIL
Michael Busch hit a two-run homer to help the Cubs to a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Busch gave the Cubs a two-run lead in the first inning with a blast off Tobias Myers in the first inning. The 26-year-old has homered 10 times thus far in 2024, but only two of those roundtrippers have come in the month of June. Still, it’s been a quality first full year of MLB action for Busch thus far with an .809 OPS through 237 at-bats. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:47 pm

    • Sitting against lefty
Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: With lefty Max Fried slated to take the hill for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Tellez will step out of the lineup Saturday. Connor Joe will get the nod at first base and bat third. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:55 am

    • Sitting Saturday
Bauers isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the Cubs.

Advice: Bauers has now been on the bench for two straight games after hitting a grand slam during Wednesday's win over the Rangers. Rhys Hoskins will get the nod at first base while Christian Yelich serves as Milwaukee's DH. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:14 am

    • Idle vs. southpaw Saturday
Horwitz is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Horwitz will begin Saturday's game in the dugout with the Yankees sending southpaw Nestor Cortes to the mound. Horwitz went 1-for-4 in Friday's 16-5 loss to the Yankees, and for the season he's slashing .340/.484/.500 with two home runs and six RBI over 64 plate appearances. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at second base Saturday and bat second. Rotowire.com Saturday, 8:33 am
    • Trio of hits in loss
Fry went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Fry is 12-for-40 (.300) over his last 12 contests, adding five doubles and two RBI in that span. That's a bit less all-around production than he was showing earlier in the campaign, but it's still a solid showing. He's now at a .316/.422/.532 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored, four stolen bases and 13 doubles through 60 games. Fry has mostly seen time at designated hitter and catcher recently, but he could also be an option in right field while Will Brennan (ribs) is on the injured list. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:58 pm

    • Swipes second bag
Miranda went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Miranda is 18-for-49 (.367) over his last 15 contests, adding eight extra-base hits and 14 RBI in that span. The third baseman's streak of drawing a walk in five straight games ended Friday, but he's still showing good plate discipline with a 5.6 percent walk rate and 14.1 percent strikeout rate. For the year, Miranda is slashing .293/.339/.491 with eight home runs, 35 RBI, 26 runs scored and two steals over 65 contests. The Twins continue to rotate Miranda and Royce Lewis between third base and designated hitter, offering both consistent playing time. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:09 pm
