    • Active in win
Sosa went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-3 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Sosa singled in the third inning, hit a two-run home run in the fifth and then walked and scored in the eighth. Entering Saturday, Sosa was in a 2-for-33 slump, but he broke out of it in a big way. On the season, the 24-year-old is now hitting .218 with three homers, 11 RBI and eight runs scored over 132 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Saturday, 4:00 pm

    • Michael Busch hits two-run homer in win over MIL
Michael Busch hit a two-run homer to help the Cubs to a win over the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: Busch gave the Cubs a two-run lead in the first inning with a blast off Tobias Myers in the first inning. The 26-year-old has homered 10 times thus far in 2024, but only two of those roundtrippers have come in the month of June. Still, it’s been a quality first full year of MLB action for Busch thus far with an .809 OPS through 237 at-bats. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:47 pm

    • Set to face live pitching
Rendon (hamstring) will face live pitching next Thursday or Friday and could return from the 60-day injured list July 8 versus Texas, Michael Huntley of TheSportingTribune.com reports.

Advice: Rendon has been participating in a variety of baseball activities -- including taking grounders, batting in the cage and running the bases -- so taking swings against live pitching is the logical next step in his quest to return from a left hamstring strain. Angels manager Ron Washington indicated Friday that he hopes the veteran third baseman can return for the beginning of a home series against the Rangers that kicks off July 8, though that date is certainly not set in stone. Rendon recently indicated that he's considering agreeing to a rehab assignment ahead of his return, but it doesn't appear he's made a decision on that topic at this point. • Swipes second bag
Miranda went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Miranda is 18-for-49 (.367) over his last 15 contests, adding eight extra-base hits and 14 RBI in that span. The third baseman's streak of drawing a walk in five straight games ended Friday, but he's still showing good plate discipline with a 5.6 percent walk rate and 14.1 percent strikeout rate. For the year, Miranda is slashing .293/.339/.491 with eight home runs, 35 RBI, 26 runs scored and two steals over 65 contests. The Twins continue to rotate Miranda and Royce Lewis between third base and designated hitter, offering both consistent playing time. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:09 pm

    • Anthony Rendon to face live pitching next week
Angels’ manager Ron Washington told reporters on Friday that Anthony Rendon will face live pitching late next week.

Advice: The 34-year-old third baseman is nearing the end of his recovery from a torn left hamstring and is closing in on a return to the Angels’ lineup. Prior to landing on the injured list in April, Rendon had been hitting .267/.325/.307 with zero homers, three RBI and three stolen bases through his first 83 plate appearances on the season. • Not starting Friday
Malloy is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Malloy will begin Friday's contest in the dugout after going 0-for-3 with one strikeout in Thursday's 5-0 loss. Over his last 10 games, he's gone just 2-for-25 with a 40.7 percent strikeout rate. Colt Keith will serve as the designated hitter Friday while Andy Ibanez starts at second base against Angels right-hander Zach Plesac. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:32 pm
    • Excluded from lineup
Suarez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Twins.

Advice: Suarez had started each of the previous eight games but went just 2-for-24 over that stretch to drop his season-long batting line down to .192/.274/.312. The Diamondbacks will give Kevin Newman a start at third base Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:03 am
    • Draws start at third base
Wendzel started at third base and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Milwaukee.

Advice: With Corey Seager resting, Josh Smith started at shortstop, opening up third base for Wendzel. Prior to Wednesday, that used to mean Ezequiel Duran would play the hot corner, but the Rangers optioned the underperforming Duran to Triple-A Round Rock amid a mini roster shakeup. Wendzel is 6-for-40 with a home run, two doubles and two RBI over 23 games this season. Eventually, Josh Jung (wrist) will return to solidify third base. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:51 am

    • Another three hits, three RBI
Miranda went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks while also drawing a walk.

Advice: Miranda kicked off the scoring for Minnesota with a three-run double in the second and went on to reach base four times in the contest -- which he's now done twice in his last three games. It marked the third time that the third baseman has driven in three runs and logged multiple hits over his last five contests, increasing his average to .329 in June. Miranda has also drawn a walk in four straight games. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:41 am
