    • Taking seat Monday
Machado is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: It's a rare day off for Machado, who had started nine straight after returning from paternity leave. Donovan Solano will handle third base Monday in his first start with the Padres. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago

    • Tommy Edman (wrist) moved to 60-day IL
Cardinals transferred Tommy Edman from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Edman now won’t be eligible to return for the Cardinals until the end of May as he recovers from his wrist injury. Chris Raycroft was selected from Triple-A Memphis with the added roster room. Rotoworld Today, 1:14 pm

    • Moves to 60-day IL
The Cardinals transferred Edman (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Advice: Edman has been on the IL all season while working his way back from October surgery on his right wrist. The 28-year-old has resumed taking swings from both sides of the plate without incident, but since he has yet to be cleared for full baseball activities, the expectation was that he would still need at least a few more weeks to finish up his rehab program. With that in mind, Edman's move to the 60-day IL doesn't come as surprise, and his potential timeline for a return won't be dramatically affected as a result. He won't be eligible to make his 2024 Cardinals debut until May 24. Rotowire.com Today, 12:47 pm

    • Homers in blowout win
Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Reds.

Advice: Westburg did his damage early, lifting a two-run blast in the first inning. He had gone 0-for-7 over the first two games of the weekend series in Cincinnati. The homer was his first since April 21 and his sixth of the year. The infielder has added a strong .286/.336/.513 slash line with 23 RBI, 18 runs scored, four steals, five doubles and two triples through 32 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:05 pm

    • Tosses scoreless frame
Jansen pitched one scoreless inning, allowing one hit in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins.

Advice: Jansen was locked into appearing in Sunday's contest no matter what, and he worked around an error by his defense and a single for a scoreless ninth inning. The 36-year-old is firmly locked into being Boston's closer in 2024, posting a 1.69 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 10.2 innings in 11 appearances while going 5-for-6 on save opportunities so far. • Launches grand slam
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam during Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Guerrero's grand slam in the second inning off MacKenzie Gore was his fourth of the season and first in 22 games. It was also the first time he homered this season with men on base as he had collected just 11 RBI and hit just .231 coming into the contest. Despite the power outage, Guerrero is currently in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak, batting 11-for-32 (.344) with three doubles, a homer, five RBI and three runs scored during that stretch. • Jordan Westburg homers in win over Reds
Jordan Westburg went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in a win over the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Westburg jumped on Nick Lodolo in the first inning with a 378-foot home run that left the bat at 101.9 mph. It was Westburg’s sixth home run of the season to go along with 23 RBIs. It’s been a breakout month for the 25-year-old, but he’s seen his triple slash fall to .286/.336/.513 after going 6-for-28 over his last seven games. The quality of contact gains are real but Westburg is swinging and missing a lot more this season, so the batting average may continue to slip a little bit in the coming weeks. • Slams door for 11th save
Finnegan walked one batter during one scoreless inning to pick up the save Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Finnegan has not allowed an earned run over his last 13 appearances and converted his 10th straight save opportunity for the surprising Nationals, who moved to .500 on the season with the win. Finnegan now carries a 1.88 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with his 11 total saves, matching Clay Holmes and Ryan Helsley for the major-league lead in that department. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:30 pm
    • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hits grand slam versus Nats
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 and hit his fifth career grand slam Sunday against the Nationals.

Advice: Guerrero also walked. The homer off MacKenzie Gore was his first since April 10. He’s now hit in eight straight games, raising his OPS from .643 to .711. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:59 pm
