    • Adam Lind's back issue resurfaces on Friday
Adam Lind was held out of the Brewers lineup on Friday due to soreness in his back.

Advice: Lind has dealt with a long history of back issues, which flared up while taking grounders on Thursday. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke indicated that he believes the issue is minor and that Lind should return to the lineup in a couple of days. Rotoworld.com

    • Travis Ishikawa has three hits to lead Giants
Travis Ishikawa had a strong day at the dish on Friday, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI as the Giants trounced the Rangers 12-3 in Cactus League play.

Advice: Ishikawa also scored a run in the contest. He's working to secure a spot as a reserve on the Giants bench after slashing .274/.333/.397 with a pair of homers and 15 RBI in 73 at-bats with them down the stretch in 2014. Rotoworld.com

    • Chris Colabello goes 2-for-3, homers
Chris Colabello went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Orioles on Friday.

Advice: The homer came off righty Mike Wright. If Colabello is going to make the Jays this year, it will be to play against lefties, possibly in a platoon with Justin Smoak. Rotoworld.com

    • Tyler Moore homers, drives in five runs
Tyler Moore drove in five runs with a homer and a triple in the Nationals' 9-8 victory over the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Moore is out of options, which is one of the reasons the Nationals protected themselves by adding Mike Carp and Kila Ka'aihue on minor league deals. Moore, who has hit .239/.295/.418 with 18 homers in 414 at-bats for the Nationals over the last three years, wouldn't be an asset as an everyday first baseman or DH, but he'd make for a decent stopgap for any team that loses its starter. As a result, there's a pretty good chance he'll find himself elsewhere on Opening Day. Rotoworld.com

    • Greg Bird doubles in Yankees' victory
Greg Bird doubled in a run Friday as the Yankees topped the Phillies 4-1.

Advice: Bird, the Arizona Fall League MVP, is 3-for-7 with two doubles this spring. The Yankees' pickup of Garrett Jones made Bird much less of an AL-only sleeper this year, but he still might be a candidate to reach the majors this summer if he continues to kill the ball in Double-A. He hit .253/.379/.558 with seven homers in 95 at-bats after moving up to Double-A last year. Rotoworld.com

    • Mike Carp nursing toe injury
Mike Carp was scratched from Friday's lineup due to a toe injury.

Advice: Carp took a pitch off his pinkie toe on Thursday and the toe was still swollen Friday. He should be fine after a couple days of rest. Carp is competing for a bench spot with the Nationals. Rotoworld.com

    • Blanks (Achilles) to play in games next week
Kyle Blanks (Achilles) is scheduled to play in games by mid-to-late next week.

Advice: The Rangers have been taking things slowly with Blanks after his Achilles issues last season. He'll be limited to working at first base and designated hitter initially but eventually will see work in the outfield as long as his health cooperates. Blanks could see plenty of playing time this season in left field and at designated hitter if he can stay on the field. Rotoworld.com

    • Mitch Moreland (ankle) nearing game action
Mitch Moreland (ankle) is scheduled to play in games early next week after participated fully in WednesdayÂ’s practice.

    • Ji-Man Choi designated for assignment
Mariners designated 1B Ji-Man Choi for assignment.

Advice: They needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Edgar Olmos. Choi suffered a fractured right fibula on Wednesday and will be sidelined 4-6 month, so he could clear waivers. Rotoworld.com

    • Mike Olt goes deep on Thursday
Mike Olt belted a two-run homer in Thursday's Cactus League tie against the Athletics.

Advice: Olt took veteran left-hander Barry Zito deep in the second inning. The 26-year-old showed power for the Cubs last season, launching 12 homers over just 258 plate appearances, but he hit only .160/.248/.356 overall. He'll compete for playing time at third base until Kris Bryant is ready. Rotoworld.com

    • Cron goes 2-for-2 as Angels top the Brewers
C.J. Cron went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored as the Angels topped the Brewers 3-2 on Thursday.

Advice: Cron led off the third inning with a double and later scored. The 25-year-old is coming off of minor wrist surgery. Cron figures to serve in the DH role along with Matt Joyce throughout the year. Rotoworld.com

    • Rua knocks in a pair of runs but Rangers lose
Ryan Rua went 1-for-2 with a triple and a pair of RBI in Thursday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: Rua tripled in the Rangers' second and third runs of the game in the third inning. The soon-to-be 25-year-old hits the ball hard and has decent power which could give him a leg up over his competition for the Rangers' job opening in left field. Rotoworld.com

    • Morales adds a pair of hits in Royals' win
Kendrys Morales went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Thursday against the Rangers.

Advice: Morales went 2-for-4 with a home run in Wednesday's win as well, so he's starting the spring off on the right foot. The Royals signed the slugger to take Billy Butler's place in the DH role. Morales is looking to improve on a sour 2014 campaign in which he compiled a meager .612 OPS with eight home runs. • Garrett Jones reaches three times
Facing his former team, Garrett Jones went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and a walk as the Yankees edged the Pirates 2-1 on Thursday.

Advice: Jones could well end up with 300 at-bats for the Yankees this year, but he'll be at the mercy of injuries for playing time initially. Fortunately for him, as old as the Yankees lineup is, DL stints figure to be pretty common. Rotoworld.com

    • Freiman out two weeks with strained back
Nate Freiman has been diagnosed with a strained back muscle and could be out for two weeks.

Advice: That's not gonna help his cause for the A's Opening Day roster. Mark Canha, a Rule 5 Draft pick this past December, probably already had the edge on Freiman anyway. Rotoworld.com

    • M's Ji-Man Choi (leg) to miss 4-6 months
Ji-Man Choi (leg) is expected to miss 4-6 months.

Advice: Choi suffered a fractured right fibula Wednesday while trying to get to an overthrown ball at first base in a Cactus League game. He underwent surgery Thursday morning. The 23-year-old South Korean was hit with a 50-game PED suspension last season and will now miss another important chunk of potential development. Rotoworld.com

    • Ji-Man Choi diagnosed with fractured fibula
Ji-Man Choi has been diagnosed with a fractured right fibula.

Advice: Choi suffered the injury when he tried to reach for a bad throw from shortstop Tyler Smith near the end of Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Padres. The 23-year-old first baseman will obviously be out for an extended period of time. He hit .282/.386/.403 with six home runs and 35 RBI in 74 games last season between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma. Rotoworld.com

    • Choi carted off with apparent leg injury
Ji-Man Choi had to be carted off the field Wednesday after suffering an apparent leg injury.

Advice: Choi landed awkwardly after jumping for an overthrown ball at first base in the ninth inning of the Mariners' Cactus League game against the Padres. It looked like a serious injury for the 23-year-old South Korean, who hit .282/.386/.403 with six home runs and 35 RBI in 74 games last season between Double-A Jackson and Triple-A Tacoma. • Moreland (ankle) likely out for another week
Mitch Moreland (ankle) isn't likely to play in Cactus League games for the Rangers until next week.

Advice: Moreland will run the bases on Tuesday on his reconstructed right ankle. The 29-year-old took over at first base following Prince Fielder's injury last season before his ankle ended his season. Moreland should face plenty of right-handed pitching out of the DH slot in 2015. Rotoworld.com

    • Lind to see at-bats vs. LHP in spring
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Tuesday that he wants to see Adam Lind against left-handers in the spring.

Advice: The assumption was that Lind would sit against most left-handers, as he has been awful against them for a few years running, but Roenicke wants to see for himself. We still see this shaking out as a platoon situation, but fortunately Lind will be on the strong side. Rotoworld.com
