  • Johnson (oblique) taking BP, doing drills
Kelly Johnson (oblique) began taking batting practice and doing defensive drills this week.

Advice: Johnson is working out at the Braves' spring training headquarters in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. There remains no timetable for his return, but that he's doing baseball activities is a good sign. The infielder will likely need a rehab assignment before returning to the Braves. Rotoworld.com

  • Garrett Jones homers again, Yanks top M's
Garett Jones homered again Wednesday as the Yankees swept a three-game series in Seattle.

Advice: Jones launched a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the 11th inning Tuesday and then went deep to break a 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth inning Wednesday. Jones could begin to muscle his way into more playing time, but this small stretch of clutch hitting doesn't suddenly give him relevance in standard fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Shane Peterson recalled from Triple-A
Brewers recalled 1B/OF Shane Peterson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Advice: Peterson has hit .320/.387/.523 with seven homers and 27 RBI at hitter-friendly Colorado Springs this season. He'll give the club some outfield depth with Khris Davis (knee) out. Rotoworld.com

  • Jones homers in the 11th in a Yankees win
Garrett Jones went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, helping the Yankees take down the Mariners in 11 innings on Tuesday.

Advice: Reliever Joe Beimel came in to face Jones with two men aboard in the 11th inning and Jones made him pay, sending the lefty's offering over the fence in right-center with plenty of room to spare. Jones has otherwise not done much in 62 plate appearances for the Yankees, batting .254/.290/.407 with two home runs and seven RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Forsythe ties career-high with his 6th homer
Logan Forsythe went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a two-run home run as the Rays beat the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Forsythe put the Rays on the board in the first inning, hitting a two-run home run off of C.J. Wilson. It's his sixth of the season, matching his career-high set in each of the last three seasons. With four months of the 2015 season left, it's safe to say he'll end up setting a new career-best. Forsythe is also hitting .288/.374/.475 with 24 RBI and 22 runs scored. Rotoworld.com

  • Reynolds has lone RBI in win over Brewers
Mark Reynolds had the only RBI in the Cardinals' win over the Brewers on Tuesday.

Advice: It was the second straight low-scoring affair between the two teams, with Reynolds' RBI single in the second inning plating the lone run in the game. Reynolds finished 1-for-3 in the contest. The veteran was performing well in a part-time role before Matt Adams' injury, and he's moved into an everyday gig with Adams sidelined. Reynolds is hitting .261/.325/.391 on the year. Rotoworld.com

  • Ruf delivers walk-off single as Phillies win
Darin Ruf pinch-hit in the ninth inning and delivered a walk-off RBI single to right field, sending the Phillies to a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

Advice: Odubel Herrera led off the inning with a double and was moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Ruiz. Manager Bryan Price opted to have lefty Tony Cingrani pitch to Ruf rather than walk him to face Ben Revere, and Ruf made him pay. He has not been much of a force at the plate this season, batting .225/.276/.393 with three home runs and 10 RBI, but even if he were, the Phillies' crowded outfield situation leaves him on the bench more often than not anyway. Kyle Blanks (cyst) will begin playing in extended spring training games on Thursday.

Advice: It's not clear how many rehab games he'll need, but Rua will see playing time at a few positions as he preps for more of a utility role with the big club. He's been out since mid-April with a right ankle sprain and broken bone in his heel. Rotoworld.com

  • Alonso (shoulder) expected back on Tuesday
Yonder Alonso (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Advice: Alonso has just three hits in 16 at-bats during five rehab games so far, but the important thing is that his right shoulder is feeling fine. The first baseman was off to a .333/.427/.437 start this season with the Padres before landing on the disabled list in early May. Rotoworld.com

  • Dominic Smith goes off for three hits Sunday
Mets first base prospect Dominic Smith smashed three hits Sunday in a win for High-A St. Lucie.

Advice: Smith drove in four runs to cap off an incredible weekend. On Saturday, the 19-year-old belted an 11th-inning walk-off home run, his second blast in 215 career minor league games. Smith's three-hit day Sunday extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The 2013 first-round pick batted .276 with 23 RBI in the month of May. Rotoworld.com

  • LaRoche homers in win over Astros
Adam LaRoche went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Astros.

Advice: LaRoche's solo homer off of Jake Buchanan in the seventh inning pushed the score to 6-0 White Sox. It would be the last run either team scored in the game. The home run was LaRoche's sixth of the season and gave him 22 RBI. LaRoche has struggled adjusting to his new surroundings, but he's shown signs of breaking out of his early slump and is now hitting .236/.365/.395. We expect those numbers to improve. Rotoworld.com

  • Bour rips fifth homer as Marlins fall to Mets
Justin Bour hit his fifth home run of the season in a losing effort against the Mets on Sunday.

Advice: Bour, who finished 2-for-4 on the afternoon, slugged a game-tying solo home run in the sixth inning against Bartolo Colon. He's getting regular at-bats now that Michael Morse is on the disabled list and has done nothing but hit, carrying a .369/.414/.646 triple-slash line with five home runs and 10 RBI in 70 plate appearances. Bour won't maintain this level of production over a larger sample size, but he's worth riding in deeper formats for now. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Rua (ankle) nearing rehab assignment
Ryan Rua (ankle) is expected to begin a rehab assignment by the end of the week.

Yonder Alonso moved his minor league rehab assignment up to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.

Advice: He played in two games at High-A Lake Elsinore, going 1-for-6 with three walks before joining El Paso where he went 0-for-3 with a pair of walks and two runs scored on Friday. • Bour slugs three-run homer in victory
Justin Bour clubbed a three-run homer in Friday's win over the Mets.

Advice: His fourth-inning blast off Matt Harvey was his only hit in four at-bats Friday, but it was the biggest play of the game. Bour is now hitting .361 (22-for-61) with five home runs and nine RBI over 28 games this season. With Michael Morse (finger) on the DL, he should be owned in all NL-only fantasy leagues. • Adam LaRoche goes deep in loss to Orioles
Adam LaRoche blasted a two-run homer as the White Sox fell to the Orioles in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.

Advice: He finished the game 1-for-3 plus a walk, with his fifth inning bomb coming off of O's starter Mike Wright. LaRoche also had a big day in the first game of the twinbill, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. He's now slashing .235/.363/.383 with five homers and 20 RBI on the year and seems to be breaking out of his early-season funk. Rotoworld.com

  • LaRoche doubles twice to help back Sale
Adam LaRoche went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in Thursday afternoon's win over the Orioles.

Advice: In a low-scoring game, LaRoche hit an RBI double off Orioles starter Tyler Wilson in the sixth inning, scoring Melky Cabrera and giving the White Sox a 2-0 lead. The team would eventually win 3-2. The two doubles pushed LaRoche's season total of two-baggers to seven and the RBI was his 18th. LaRoche has struggled to this point with his new team, but he's hit 20 or more homers in each of his last four healthy seasons and it's not unreasonable to expect an improvement on his .239/.368/.373 slash as he grows familiar with AL pitchers. • Reynolds at first base for Cardinals on Wed.
Mark Reynolds is starting at first base for the Cardinals on Wednesday night against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: He'll serve as the Cardinals' regular first baseman while Matt Adams recovers from a right quad strain -- an injury that could take over a month to fully heal. Reynolds is a frustratingly inconsistent hitter, but he still has good power at age 31 and should have mixed-league fantasy value for however long Adams is out. Rotoworld.com

  • Forsythe to play first base with Loney out
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Logan Forsythe will function as the regular first baseman with James Loney (finger) sidelined.

Advice: This will open things up for Nick Franklin to get more playing time at second base. Rene Rivera, Jacob Elmore, and Tim Beckham could also see some reps at first base, but Forsythe should get most of the playing time. Loney is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Rotoworld.com

  • Forsythe provides Rays' only run with a homer
Logan Forsythe walked and hit a solo home run, providing the Rays' only run in Monday's loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Forsythe put the Rays on the board with a sixth-inning solo shot to left field off of Roenis Elias. The 28-year-old has done a terrific job, batting .299/.374/.487 with five home runs and 21 RBI. He has played mostly at second base in the absence of Nick Franklin and has value in mixed leagues as long as he's hitting the way he is and getting regular at-bats. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Padres manager Bud Black seemed pessimistic less than a week ago about Alonso's recovery from a bone bruise in his right shoulder, but the first baseman has apparently made great progress since then. He'll hit on the field on Monday. "I was able to go through my routine, I was able to hit some balls off the tee and hit some balls off front toss. Day by day, I'm increasing my load," he said.
