  • Giavotella not in Angels' lineup Wednesday
Johnny Giavotella is not in the Angels' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: Giavotella has cooled off considerably after a hot first month and will take a seat against Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner. Grant Green is at second base. Rotoworld.com

  • Dodgers acquire Callaspo from the Braves
Dodgers acquired INF Alberto Callaspo, LHP Eric Stults, LHP Ian Thomas, and RHP Juan Jaime from the Braves for 3B Juan Uribe and RHP Chris Withrow.

Advice: Callaspo initially rejected this trade, but he was paid a stipend to accept it a few hours after that decision. The 32-year-old infielder owns a rough .265/.328/.366 batting line in over 1,000 career major league games. He doesn't project to play very often in Los Angeles. Rotoworld.com

  • Panik's homer powers Giants past Brewers
Joe Panik's two-run home run proved to be all the offense the Giants needed to take down the Brewers on Wednesday.

Advice: Panik turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with a two-run home run to right field off of Mike Fiers. He finished 2-for-4 on the afternoon. Panik has hit safely in 21 of 24 May games and is now batting .297/.366/.430 with three home runs and 17 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Delino DeShields appears at second base
Delino DeShields Jr. made his major league debut at second base late in Wednesday's blowout loss.

Advice: Manager Jeff Banister said earlier this week that there weren't any immediate plans to give DeShields starts at second base. He played the position regularly from 2011-2013 in the minors, but he proved much better defensively in the outfield. Of course, there's now fewer at-bats for him there with Josh Hamilton off the DL. He'll likely get most of his starts versus lefties unless he shows he's a realistic option at second. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Flaherty activated from disabled list
Orioles activated INF Ryan Flaherty from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: Flaherty is playing second base and hitting seventh for the O's Wednesday. He's battled a groin issue for over a month -- an injury that caused two DL stints -- but is convinced he's over it now. Rotoworld.com

  • Flores hits a walk-off single as Mets top PHI
Wilmer Flores knocked in the tying and game-winning runs as the Mets walked off winners in 10 innings versus the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Flores, who went 1-for-4 on the night, tied the game at 4-4 with an eighth-inning sacrifice fly against Ken Giles. In the 10th inning, he came to the plate with runners on the corners and two out. He lifted an Elvis Araujo offering into left field to bring in the winning run. Flores has hit for decent power but otherwise has been lackluster, batting .252/.284/.429 with seven home runs and 21 RBI. Rotoworld.com

  • Schumaker hits walk-off double versus Rockies
Skip Schumaker hit a pinch-hit walk-off double in the Reds' win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: With a man on second and one out, Schumaker delivered the game-winning hit to left field to send Reds fans home happy. It also sent his teammates home happy, as the win was the Reds' first in their last 10 tries. The walk-off hit was a nice moment for Schumaker, who is hitting just .240/.255/.360 in a reserve role this season. Rotoworld.com

  • DeShields not in Tuesday's lineup
Delino DeShields Jr. is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Indians.

Advice: DeShields made the start in center field on Monday, but Leonys Martin is back in there against right-hander Danny Salazar. We still think Martin will end up getting most of the playing time in center field, which will hurt DeShields as long as Josh Hamilton can stay healthy. Of course, that's far from a guarantee. • Alberto Callaspo rejects trade to Dodgers
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Alberto Callaspo has rejected a trade to the Dodgers.

Advice: Juan Uribe and others would have been sent to the Braves in the proposed deal. However, Callaspo has the ability to veto a trade until June 15 since he signed with the Braves as a free agent over the winter. He ultimately chose to use that right. Callaspo figures to be designated for assignment when Chris Johnson comes off the DL later this week and he'll be able to sign with any team at the major league minimum once he hits free agency. • Forsythe to play first base with Loney out
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Logan Forsythe will function as the regular first baseman with James Loney (finger) sidelined.

Advice: This will open things up for Nick Franklin to get more playing time at second base. Rene Rivera, Jacob Elmore, and Tim Beckham could also see some reps at first base, but Forsythe should get most of the playing time. Loney is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Rotoworld.com

  • Braves trying to trade Alberto Callaspo
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez revealed after Monday's game that Alberto Callaspo was scratched because the club is in the process of trying to trade him.

Advice: There had been speculation that he could be designated for assignment, but evidently the Braves might find a taker for him. They'll surely have to eat a good portion of what remains of Callaspo's $3 million salary for this season. The veteran infielder has just three hits in his last 53 at-bats to drop his season average to .206. Rotoworld.com

  • Forsythe provides Rays' only run with a homer
Logan Forsythe walked and hit a solo home run, providing the Rays' only run in Monday's loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Forsythe put the Rays on the board with a sixth-inning solo shot to left field off of Roenis Elias. The 28-year-old has done a terrific job, batting .299/.374/.487 with five home runs and 21 RBI. He has played mostly at second base in the absence of Nick Franklin and has value in mixed leagues as long as he's hitting the way he is and getting regular at-bats. Rotoworld.com

  • Callaspo to be designated for assignment?
MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports that Alberto Callaspo may be designated for assignment.

Advice: The Braves didn't give a reason for scratching Callaspo from Monday's lineup, but Bowman is hearing it could be because his time with the club is coming to an end. The veteran infielder has just three hits in his last 53 at-bats to drop his season average to .206. He was signed to a $3 million contract over the offseason. Rotoworld.com

  • Steve Pearce homers to lead Orioles
Steve Pearce hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to help the Orioles beat the Astros 4-3 on Monday.

Advice: Pearce has just nine hits this month, but at least three of them have been homers, and since one was a grand slam, he has driven in 10 runs. There's still plenty of room for him to reemerge as a full-time player for the Orioles if he can get hot. Really, though, he's struggled just to tread water all season. Rotoworld.com

  • Wilmer Flores cranks seventh homer in win
Wilmer Flores cranked his seventh home run of the season Monday in the Mets' defeat of the Phillies.

Advice: And just like that, he is leading all major league shortstops in home runs. Flores was retired in his other three at-bats Monday and is batting just .252 with a .287 on-base percentage for the season, but his pop gives him value at a position where production is scarce. Rotoworld.com

  • Utley goes 2-for-3 with two RBI in loss
Chase Utley went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the Phillies' loss to the Mets on Monday afternoon.

Advice: Utley hit a two-run single in the top of the third inning and then singled again in the fifth. The veteran second baseman has shown signs of life over the last few weeks, though he's still batting just .183/.261/.303 overall. He does have 21 RBI in 42 games. Rotoworld.com

  • Rays recall Tim Beckham from AAA Durham
Rays recalled INF Tim Beckham from Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Beckham was just optioned to the minors last week, but the Rays need him to provide infield depth with first baseman James Loney ruled out indefinitely after suffering a broken finger. Beckham was batting just .224/.266/.459 at the time of his May 22 demotion. He's doubtful to hold mixed-league fantasy value. Rotoworld.com

  • Javier Baez goes deep twice in Sunday's win
Cubs shortstop prospect Javier Baez launched two homers Sunday in a win for Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Baez had a great weekend, mashing seven hits in 13 at-bats with three homers and six RBI. The 22-year-old doesn't have enough at-bats to qualify, but if he did, his OPS (.944) would be the eighth-highest in the Pacific Coast League while his slugging percentage (.540) would be tenth-highest. Baez crushed nine homers in his first stint in the big leagues last season but struggled to hit for average (.169 in 213 at-bats). Rotoworld.com

  • Flores manages two hits in drubbing by PIT
Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Flores can proudly tell his grandchildren that he did not strike out against Francisco Liriano in a game that saw 12 strikeouts by the former Twin. Not only did Flores not strike out, he managed the only run for the Mets (on an RBI single in the fifth inning) and was the only Met to record more than one hit. He's hitting .252/.288/.417 with six homers and 16 RBI this season. Rotoworld.com

Rays optioned INF Tim Beckham to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder went 2-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season on Friday, but became a roster casualty as the Rays needed a fresh arm in the bullpen. While he has shown flashes, he's hitting just .224/.266/.459 on the year and could benefit from everyday at-bats at Triple-A. Rotoworld.com

  • Pearce wallops grand slam off Happ in first
Steven Pearce hit a grand slam in the first inning of Thursday's 5-4 win over Mariners.

Advice: Pearce hit the four-bagger off of J.A. Happ with two outs in the first inning. It was Pearce's fourth homer of the season and pushed his RBI count to 15. While he does have a little sneaky pop in his bat, it's not enough to overcome a .198/.275/.341 batting line. Continue to disregard him for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld.com
