  • Solarte's 3 hits, 2 RBI not enough for Padres
Yangervis Solarte went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and an RBI double, but the Padres fell to the Astros on Monday.

Advice: Solarte singled in the tying run in the fifth inning, making it 3-3 at the time. In the seventh, he tied the game again with a double. Despite an impressive batting line -- .320/.370/.520 -- Monday marked his first multi-hit game since April 13. Solarte could eventually see more consistent playing time at second base if Jedd Gyorko continues to struggle.

  • Uggla hits an RBI triple against former team
Dan Uggla went 1-for-2 with an RBI triple as the Nationals lost Monday's contest to the Braves.

Advice: Uggla entered the game at second base -- forcing Danny Espinosa to third -- when Yunel Escobar exited with a hand injury. In the eighth inning, he tripled in a run and came around to score on a throwing error by Jace Peterson. Offensive success, once again, has been hard to come by for Uggla, who's currently hitting .135/.200/.243 in 40 plate appearances.

  • Aviles homers, walks twice as Indians lose
Mike Aviles provided the Indians their only two runs with a home run in Monday's loss to the Royals.

Advice: Aviles hit a two-run home run off of Jason Vargas in the fifth inning to knot the game at 2-2. He finished 1-for-2 with a pair of walks along with the round-tripper. Aviles is batting .257/.366/.457 with two home runs and three RBI on the season but has come to the plate only 41 times. Despite his multi-position eligibility, Aviles doesn't have much fantasy value with his irregular playing time.

  • Danny Muno optioned to Triple-A
Mets optioned INF Danny Muno to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Muno had one hit in six at-bats during his brief time with the big club. The Mets will promote Tuesday's starter Rafael Montero in a corresponding move.

  • Murphy swats a go-ahead three-run homer
Daniel Murphy helped push the Mets to victory, slugging a ninth-inning three-run home run as his team topped the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Murphy entered the frame 0-for-3, appearing to extend what has been a season-long slump. However, he got around on a Steve Cishek offering with two men on base to put the Mets up 3-1 in the top of the ninth. Murphy has two home runs, 14 RBI, and a .174/.247/.333 triple-slash line on the season.

  • Nick Franklin (oblique) near rehab assignment
Nick Franklin (oblique) expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment at some point this week.

Advice: Franklin seemed to be trending toward minor league games early last week, but the Rays slowed his rehab as a precautionary measure. The 24-year-old was poised to open the 2015 season as Tampa Bay's starting second baseman before suffering an oblique strain at the end of spring training. He should be ready to rock in early May and may carry some value in deep fantasy leagues.

  • Pirela (concussion) begins rehab assignment
Jose Pirela (concussion) began a rehab assignment Sunday with the High-A Tampa Yankees.

Advice: Pirela served as Tampa's designated hitter in his rehab debut and went 0-for-4. The 25-year-old catcher had been on the shelf since March 22 with a bad concussion. He'll head to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre once he's fully healthy and his timing is right.

  • Daniel Murphy plates two in losing effort
Daniel Murphy went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in a losing effort against the Yankees on Sunday night.

Advice: Murphy also drew a walk, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. He has struggled mightily in the early going, slashing a mere .169/.247/.292 with one homer and 11 RBI. Hopefully this strong night finally gets him rolling.

  • Mets ink Brooks Conrad to minors deal
Mets signed INF Brooks Conrad to a minor league contract.

Advice: Conrad made it up to the majors briefly with the Padres last season but spent the bulk of the year in Triple-A, batting .278/.349/.529 with 18 homers. He's merely a depth guy.

Scooter Gennett (hand) will resume swinging a bat on Sunday.

  • Grant Green goes 2-for-3 in season debut
Making his first start since being called up Friday, Grant Green went 2-for-3 with two runs scored Saturday against the Rangers.

Advice: The Angels were pretty much grooming Green as an outfielder this spring, but he played second tonight. Even in Triple-A, he had played there just once this year. Second base is certainly where his bat plays best and probably the only position at which he has a chance of becoming a regular. The Angels, though, probably won't keep him up for long.

  • Beckham cranks third homer of season
Tim Beckham hit his third home run of the season when he went yard against Jeff Francis in the seventh inning of Friday's romp over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Beckham's been a pinch-hit wizard, with both of his other homers this season coming off the bench. While Beckham did pinch-hit for David DeJesus against the Blue Jays on Friday, the home run came in his second at-bat. He finished the game 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. A former No. 1 overall pick, his strong bench bat would probably be fun to own just for the sake of awesomeness. Over 36 AB's, he's hitting .278/.325/.583. It's not quite enough at-bats to say he's a must-add, but if he's floating on the waiver wire, keep an eye on him.

  • Jays designate Steve Tolleson for assignment
Blue Jays designated INF Steve Tolleson for assignment.

Advice: The 31-year-old hit just .200/.250/.400 with five strikeouts in his 16 plate appearances with the Jays. With his versatility, there's a chance that Tolleson could attract interest on waivers, otherwise he'll continue to provide organizational infield depth for the Jays.

  • Uggla continues to struggle in loss to MIA
Dan Uggla went 0-for-3 in Friday's loss to the Marlins.

Advice: As is his wont, Uggla also struck out twice in the contest. This brings his batting line to a cringe-inducing .118/.189/.176 over 34 at-bats. It's difficult to believe that the hitter we're seeing now had six seasons with 25 or more home runs. Those days are long, long gone. Once Anthony Rendon returns from a knee injury, Uggla's at-bats figure to drop off a cliff. That's assuming the Nationals keep him on the active roster, which at this point, is not a given.

  • Angels recall Grant Green from Triple-A
Angels recalled INF/OF Grant Green from Triple-A Salt Lake City.

Advice: The 27-year-old was off to a fast start in the PCL, slashing .328/.333/.492 with four RBI in his first 13 contests. He'll add versatility and bench depth to the Angels roster.

  • Omar Infante returns to Royals' lineup Fri.
Omar Infante (groin) is back in the Royals' lineup Friday.

Advice: Infante hadn't played since straining his left groin on Sunday. The veteran infielder is sporting an ugly .250/.244/.350 batting line in the early going this season.
    Friday, 1:44 pm
  • Rey Navarro recalled from Triple-A
Orioles recalled INF Rey Navarro from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: He'll provide some infield depth with the Orioles being hit hard by injuries there. Navarro, who will be making his major league debut when he gets into a game, had three hits in his first seven at-bats at Norfolk.
    Friday, 11:47 am
  • Ryan Flaherty (groin) placed on disabled list
Orioles placed INF Ryan Flaherty on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 23, with a strained right groin.

Advice: Flaherty thinks he'll be ready to play in a week or so, but Baltimore couldn't afford to wait. With J.J. Hardy (shoulder) and Jonathan Schoop (knee) also out, the O's will roll with Everth Cabrera at shortstop and Jimmy Paredes and Rey Navarro at second base for a while.

  • Flaherty dealing with tweak to groin
Ryan Flaherty suffered a groin injury while running from first to second on Wednesday.

Advice: He apparently suffered it on the very last play of the game. Flaherty indicated that he didn't believe this was a DL-worthy injury. If he is able to avoid the DL, he'll still likely miss at least a few games this weekend.

  • Murphy's 4 RBI send Mets to 11th straight win
Daniel Murphy knocked in four runs as the Mets earned their 11th consecutive win Thursday versus the Braves.

Advice: Murphy went 2-for-3 with a walk on the afternoon. He unloaded the bases with a double in the first inning to put the Mets up 3-0, then added an RBI single in the seventh, padding the Mets' lead to 6-3. It was a rare positive day at the dish for Murphy, who has struggled to begin the season. He's hitting .170/.250/.283 overall with one home run and five RBI.

  • Yangervis Solarte hits second homer
Yangervis Solarte hit his second homer Wednesday off the Rockies' Kyle Kendrick.

Advice: Solarte needs to play regularly until he cools off, and it's not a bad thing that it's at Jedd Gyorko's expense, considering that Gyorko hasn't hit since 2013. Solarte is batting .343 in 35 at-bats.
    Wednesday, 8:49 pm
  • Infante (groin) aiming to return this weekend
Royals manager Ned Yost indicated Tuesday that the club hopes to have Omar Infante (groin) back in the lineup by this weekend.

Advice: Infante himself is hoping to play Wednesday, but Yost thinks he'll need a couple more days. The veteran infielder fielded grounders Tuesday for the first time since straining his groin on Sunday. Christian Colon will continue to fill in at second base until Infante is ready.

  • Gennett (hand) expected back when eligible
Scooter Gennett (hand) is expected to be activated from the disabled list when first eligible.

  • Brewers place Gennett (hand) on 15-day DL
Brewers placed INF Scooter Gennett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a left hand laceration.

  • Infante (groin) could be available Tuesday
Omar Infante (groin) could be available off the bench in an emergency as soon as Tuesday.

Advice: Infante strained his left groin on Sunday, but it's evidently a minor strain and the Royals don't think he'll require a stint on the disabled list. Christian Colon is filling in at second base Monday.
    Monday, 2:02 pm
  • DL stint possible for Scooter Gennett (hand)
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Monday that it's possible Scooter Gennett (hand) could need a disabled list stint if his injury lingers.

Advice: Gennett cut his hand in the shower after Sunday's game and needed stitches. The Brewers figure to give him a few days to see how the hand responds before making a decision. Hector Gomez is filling in at second base Monday and will continue to do so for as long as Gennett is sidelined.

  • Gennett cuts hand in shower, needs stitches
Scooter Gennett cut his hand in the shower after Sunday's game and will miss some time.

Advice: Could things be going any worse for the Brew Crew? Gennett needed stitches for the gash and it's not clear when he might be ready to return to the starting lineup. Hector Gomez is likely to fill in at second base.

  • Infante day-to-day with strained left groin
Omar Infante was diagnosed with a strained left groin and is considered day-to-day.

Advice: Infante sustained the injury during Sunday's game against the Athletics. The oft-injured infielder will probably be rested for a couple of days before rejoining the Royals lineup.

  • Omar Infante leaves game with leg injury
Omar Infante left Sunday's game versus the Athletics with an apparent leg injury.

Advice: Infante was spotted wincing in the fifth inning as he pulled into second base with a double. The Royals could be without both of their middle infielders for a bit with Alcides Escobar (knee) also sidelined. Expect an update on Infante shortly.
