  • X-rays come back negative for Ramirez
X-rays on the hand of Hanley Ramirez came back negative late Friday.

Advice: He was hit by a pitch during Friday's loss to the Angels and was removed from the game. He appears to have avoided any serious injury and should be considered day-to-day.

  • Nick Ahmed comes up big in 13-inning win
Nick Ahmed homered and delivered a game-winning single in the 13th as the Diamondbacks edged the Cubs 5-4 on Friday.

Advice: Nick Ahmed? The homer was his first of 2015 and second in 174 major league at-bats. He raised his average from .l94 to .212 with his first three-hit game of the year. His defense has been terrific, which is why he won the job in the first place. Anything he offers with the bat is a bonus as far as the Diamondbacks are concerned.

  • Matt Duffy hits second homer
Matt Duffy hit his second homer as part of a 3-for-5 night against the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Duffy has established himself as the Giants' best option at third base, for better or worse. He's not going to be much of an asset offensively, but he's certainly outplayed Casey McGehee to date.

  • Rays option Tim Beckham to Triple-A Durham
Rays optioned INF Tim Beckham to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder went 2-for-4 with his fifth home run of the season on Friday, but became a roster casualty as the Rays needed a fresh arm in the bullpen. While he has shown flashes, he's hitting just .224/.266/.459 on the year and could benefit from everyday at-bats at Triple-A.

  • Gregorius launches three-run homer in loss
Didi Gregorius launched a three-run homer on Friday, but it wasn't enough for the Yankees to overcome the Rangers.

Advice: His three-run shot, his first of the season, came off Rangers starter Colby Lewis in the fourth inning, cutting the Rangers lead to 7-4 at the time. He has been a major disappointment at the dish early in the season, slashing a mere .217/.278/.278 with 10 RBI.

  • Cozart hitless in loss to Indians
Zack Cozart went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Indians.

Advice: Cozart has just four hits in 31 at-bats over his last nine games. His batting average has fallen from .320 to .278 during his recent slump. We weren't expecting his hot start to last anyway, but he's still capable of providing some pop from a MI (middle infielder) spot in fantasy leagues.

  • Jose Reyes reaches three times in rehab game
Jose Reyes went 1-for-3 and drew a pair of walks in his second minor league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

Advice: Reyes served as the designated hitter on Friday after manning his position defensively on Thursday. He'll remain on his rehab assignment the remainder of the weekend before rejoining the Blue Jays on Monday.

  • Odubel Herrera plates lone run in loss Friday
Odubel Herrera went 1-for-3 and plated the Phillies lone run in Friday's loss to Max Scherzer and the Nationals.

Advice: His run-scoring double in the second inning plated Maikel Franco and gave the Phillies an early 1-0 lead, but that would be the extent of their offense on the evening. Herrera also drew a walk in the ballgame and is now slashing .263/.300/.375 with 14 RBI on the season.

  • Kang has RBI, SB in win over Mets
Jung Ho Kang had an RBI single and a stolen base against the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Kang has hit safely in five straight games and owns a .310/.372/.440 batting line with two home runs, 11 RBI, and three stolen bases through 29 games. He has pushed the struggling Jordy Mercer to the bench in recent days and deserves to be owned in more fantasy leagues right now.

  • Hanley Ramirez leaves with sore left hand
Hanley Ramirez was removed from Friday's game against the Angels due to soreness in his left hand.

Advice: Ramirez was drilled by a pitch there earlier in the ballgame. The fact that the score was 11-3 at the time may have also played a role in his early departure. He should be considered day-to-day.

  • Everth Cabrera activated from disabled list
Orioles activated INF Everth Cabrera from the 15-day disabled list.

Advice: He missed the minimum amount of time with a bruised left foot. Cabrera will give the O's another option at second base and at shortstop when J.J. Hardy needs a rest.

  • Marcus Semien getting a breather Friday
Marcus Semien is not in the Athletics' lineup Friday.

Advice: New A's coach Ron Washington is putting Semien through drills prior to Friday's game as he seeks to improve the youngster's defense, so it's no surprise he's not in the lineup. Andy Parrino is handling shortstop.
  • Andy Parrino called up from Triple-A
Athletics purchased the contract of INF Andy Parrino from Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Parrino was batting .273/.369/.432 with four homers for Nashville. He'll serve as a utility infielder for the A's.

  • Mike Aviles goes 4-for-5, homers
Mike Aviles went 4-for-5 and homered against the White Sox in Thursday's win.

Advice: Aviles is batting a cool .323 with three homers in 65 at-bats while primarily being used against lefties. It'd be nice if he were better at shortstop and more of an option over Jose Ramirez there, but as a platoon partner for Lonnie Chisenhall at third base, he's getting the job done.

  • Jose Reyes goes 1-for-4 in first rehab game
Jose Reyes (rib) went 1-for-4 in his first minor league rehab game with Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

Advice: His lone hit was a single off of Tigers right-hander Bruce Rondon who is on a rehab assignment of his own at Triple-A Toledo. Reyes played six innings defensively at shortstop without any issues, and assisted on a pair of double plays. He's expected to remain with Buffalo through the weekend before potentially rejoining the Blue Jays on Monday.

Erisbel Arruebarrena has been placed on the suspended list by the Dodgers.

Advice: Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman confirmed that Arruebarrena has been suspended, but he declined to answer questions about specifics. However, it's believed to be disciplinary in nature. Arruebarrena, who originally signed a $25 million contract with the Dodgers, was outrighted off the 40-man roster in January and has yet to play a game at any level this season.

Advice: Reyes will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Buffalo and remain there through the weekend. The veteran shortstop has been on the disabled list since April 27 because of a cracked rib. Reyes was batting just .250/.266/.300 in 16 games before the injury, but he's capable of getting it going in a hurry.

  • Hanley Ramirez (leg) back in Red Sox' lineup
Hanley Ramirez (leg) is back in the Red Sox' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: Hanley had to leave Tuesday's contest after banging his left leg on a slide, but he'll gut it out in this one. Ramirez hasn't hit with the same authority since returning from a shoulder injury that he was earlier in the season.
    Wednesday, 12:09 pm
  • HanRam doubles twice among three hits Tuesday
Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: Ramirez oddly had just one double on the year coming into the game. He had to make an early exit after jamming his left leg, but it's considered a minor injury. The shortstop is batting .276/.322/.522 overall this season.
    Tuesday, 7:51 pm
  • Hanley Ramirez exits game with leg injury
Hanley Ramirez left Tuesday's game against the Rangers after jamming his left leg on late.

  • Everth Cabrera (foot) could be back Friday
Everth Cabrera (foot) could be activated from the 15-day disabled list this Friday.

Advice: Cabrera has been out since May 7 because of a bone bruise in his left foot. He began a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk this past weekend. J.J. Hardy is back on the Orioles' active roster, so Cabrera will be a utility infielder when he returns.

  • Reyes says rib issue could linger all year
Jose Reyes admitted Tuesday that his rib injury will "probably" linger all season.

Advice: Reyes has been on the disabled list since April 27 because of a cracked rib and while the rest has likely helped, it doesn't sound like he expects to be 100 percent. The veteran shortstop is set to take batting practice Tuesday, after which the Blue Jays will make a decision on a possible minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: There may be an official announcement in that regard Monday after the Blue Jays' afternoon tilt with the Angels. The shortstop should be ready by the end of May.

  • Aviles (bereavement) expected back Monday
The Indians are expected to activate Mike Aviles (bereavement) from the disabled list on Monday.

Advice: He left the team while his daughter received treatment for leukemia. Aviles has started at four positions this year including left field, center field, shortstop and third base. The 34-year-old brings some versatility to the table but isn't much of a fantasy contributor.

  • Cozart hits solo homer vs. Giants
Zack Cozart launched a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Giants.

Advice: Cozart missed some time earlier this week with a wrist injury, but he's obviously feeling better now. He's already up to six home runs on the year, which is two more than he had all of last season. We're still skeptical that his .319 batting average is meant to last, but he has amassed as many as 15 home runs in a season before and hitting second in the Reds' lineup should help him stay fantasy relevant.
    Friday, 7:26 pm
  • Ramirez collects 4 hits in win over Seattle
Hanley Ramirez went 4-for-5 with a double in Thursday's win against the Mariners.

Advice: Han-Ram has gone 6-for-9 in the past 48 hours, raising his batting average from .252 to .284. He's enjoying his first campaign in Boston, slashing .284/.336/.552. Ramirez's 10 homers rank third in the American League, and that slugging percentage checks in at No. 10.

Zack Cozart (wrist) is back in the Reds' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Braves.
