    • Kutter Crawford strikes out nine in win over Yanks
      Kutter Crawford racked up nine strikeouts over six innings of three-run baseball in a victory over the Yankees on Sunday night.

      Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander allowed just three hits and one walk on the night. He served up a solo homer to Aaron Judge in the opening inning, then kept the Yankees’ offense completely at bay until Jose Trevino crushed a solo homer in the sixth inning. They scratched out another run in the sixth as Anthony Volpe scampered home on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning. Crawford generated 16 swings and misses on 84 pitches in the ballgame — nine on his sweeper — while posting a terrific CSW of 39 percent.       Bradford (rib/back) said June 5 that he has begun playing catch off flat ground from 120 feet, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Bradford turned some heads by opening the season with three wins and a 1.40 ERA and 0.62 WHIP through his first three starts, but he's been on the shelf since mid-April with a lower back strain and a small stress fracture of a rib. Nearly two months later, Bradford is finally throwing again, and assuming that he's responding well to long tossing, he could be cleared for bullpen sessions in the next week or two. Bradford is without a clear target date for a return from the 60-day injured list, but he may not have a rotation spot waiting for him once he's activated, as Max Scherzer (back/arm) and Tyler Mahle (elbow) could both rejoin the big club before him.       Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

      Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June.       Bailey Ober allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings and got the win in the Twins’ 6-2 victory over the Athletics on Sunday.



      Advice: Ober gave up six hits, walked two and struck out eight. The win was his sixth of the year. The lone run off of Ober came on a Daz Cameron home run in the seventh inning. Home runs have been a problem for him this season. Ober has allowed 1.48 HR/9, which has been a contributing factor as to why his ERA is 4.81 despite a 4.04 xFIP. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Athletics on the road next week.

      Lane Thomas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Marlins on Sunday.



      Advice: It’s Thomas’ third consecutive game with a home run. He now has seven total on the year. Thomas has been hot over his last 10 games going 10-for-37 (.351) to bring his season average to .238. He stole 11 bases in 22 games in April, but has just five steals in 20 games since.

    • Wild again in defeat
      Mazur (0-2) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and six walks while striking out four batters over 3.2 innings.

      Advice: Mazur has struggled to find the strike zone through his first three big-league outings, racking up 13 walks over 12.2 frames. Surprisingly, none of Mazur's career-high six free passes Saturday resulted in a score -- the rookie managed to wiggle out of a constant stream of baserunners until a pair of Mets doubles in the fourth inning resulted in New York's first run. Nonetheless, Mazur isn't likely to find major-league success if he continues to issue free passes at his current rate, and he could be pushed out of San Diego's rotation if Yu Darvish (groin) is able to return to action next week.       Semien went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, three RBI and one stolen base in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Semien got the Rangers on the board with an RBI double in the fifth inning and added a two-out, two-run single in the ninth, but the comeback fell short. This was his third multi-hit effort in June, though it was his first since June 3. The second baseman is slashing .265/.330/.438 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI, 50 runs scored and three stolen bases over 69 contests this season.
