      Brown (6-5) earned the win Monday against Toronto, allowing two hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: The Houston right-hander continued his torrid hot streak, tossing an eighth consecutive quality start. Over those eight outings, Brown has gone 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB across 49 innings. Despite sporting a 9.78 ERA after his first 23 innings, the 25-year-old has now lowered his overall ERA to 4.07 in 86.1 total innings.     • Hunter Brown goes six scoreless to defeat Jays
      Hunter Brown tossed six scoreless frames, allowing only two hits, Monday as the Astros defeated the Blue Jays 3-1.

      Advice: The Jays had a chance in the second, when Brown gave up a single and walked two to load the bases with one out, but Ernie Clement and Kevin Kiermaier failed to bring home any runners. Other than that, Brown kept the Toronto bats very quiet on Canada Day. He’s won five straight starts, allowing a total of one run in the process.       Yariel Rodríguez limited the Astros to one run and two hits over 6 2/3 innings in a tough loss Monday.

      Advice: Apart from one bad curveball deposited into the stands by Jeremy Peña, Rodríguez was exceptional today, generating 13 missed swings and six strikeouts while needed just 83 pitches to get 20 outs. We’d still suggest shying away from Rodríguez in shallow leagues, especially in light of his workload concerns, but he could be a sleeper next year when he’s presumably under fewer restrictions.       Rodriguez (0-3) took the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: The 27-year-old rookie pocketed his first career quality start in his longest outing of the season. Rodriguez generated 13 whiffs out of his 83 pitches to produce six punchouts. The Toronto right-hander's ERA now stands at 4.63 across 23.1 innings with 23:13 K:BB. With this performance, Rodriguez is likely to draw another start over Bowden Francis.       Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Scott will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start Wednesday versus the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: While Mendoza didn't commit to Scott making additional starts in the majors beyond Wednesday, the opportunity would seem to be there for the rookie right-hander after Tylor Megill was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday.       Advice: It’s unclear if this will be one and done or if Scott might get to keep the spot for a spell. He certainly deserves a long look; he had a 3.90 ERA and a 25/6 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings over five starts before the Mets sent him down a month ago, and he’s since posted a 2.12 ERA in Triple-A.
