    • Falls short of qualifying for win
Gray allowed one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Wednesday.

Advice: Gray pitched well as a starter four days after making a surprise 1.2-inning relief appearance against Atlanta, but he was pulled with two runners on base and two outs in the fifth after having thrown 92 pitches. Texas was up 2-1 at the time, so the ill-timed hook cost him a chance at earning his first win of 2024. Nonetheless, this was another positive outing for the right-hander, who has now given up one or fewer earned runs in each of his past five trips to the mound (including the relief outing). • Jon Gray whiffs seven in no-decision vs. Mariners
Jon Gray struck out seven batters with one run allowed over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mariners.

Advice: Gray labored through a long first inning. A leadoff triple and a groundout brought a run in for the Mariners before he stranded two on the bases with a strikeout. He settled down to toss three scoreless frames before leaving with two runners on and two outs in the fifth, giving him a no-decision. The 32-year-old right-hander induced ten whiffs, striking out seven. Gray will take a 2.92 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 32/11 K/BB ratio across 24 2/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Texas on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:18 pm

    • Mike Trout first to reach 10 homers this season
Mike Trout became the first major leaguer to reach 10 homers this season when he took the Orioles’ Dean Kremer deep on Wednesday.

Advice: Trout’s 10th homer came in his 25th game. He still has just 13 RBI, since he’s not hitting singles (.237 average) and he’s especially not hitting with men on base. Things don’t figure to get much better there if the Angels leave him in the leadoff spot. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:17 pm
    • Riding pine Wednesday
Gurriel is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Gurriel will join fellow lineup regulars Ketel Marte and Gabriel Moreno on the bench for the series finale while Arizona looks to rest some key players for the day game after a night game. Jake McCarthy will fill in in left field for Gurriel, who went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and three runs in Tuesday's 14-1 win. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:13 am
    • Gets Wednesday off
Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Marte will take a seat for the first time since April 9, ending a streak of 13 consecutive starts during which he slashed a blistering .364/.413/.564 with two home runs, seven RBI and 12 runs. Kevin Newman will replace Marte at second base in the series finale in St. Louis. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 am
    • Nabs second steal
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.

Advice: The veteran outfielder crossed the plate multiple times for the first time in April, while the steal was his second of 2024. Hernandez got off to a quick start to his Dodgers tenure but has cooled down of late, slashing .226/.328/.321 over his last 15 games with only one homer, five RBI, seven runs and a 32.8 percent strikeout rate. • Homers as leadoff man
Trout went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Trout was placed atop the batting order for the first time since the 2020 campaign and wasted no time making an impact, taking Grayson Rodriguez deep to center for his first leadoff home run since 2012. Trout now has nine home runs through the team's first 24 games, which is his most since he had 10 in 2020. He's now also tied with Marcell Ozuna atop the home run leaderboard. Trout is slashing .237/.324/.581 with 12 RBI, 15 runs, five steals and a 11:23 BB:K in 105 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:17 am
    • Initiates home run party
Walker went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 14-1 win over St. Louis.

Advice: Walker kicked off the Diamondbacks' fun with a three-run blast in the third inning. It was the first of three Arizona homers, as later Kevin Newman (two-run shot) and Pavin Smith (grand slam) added to the rout. For Walker, it was his first home run since April 2, snapping an 18-game drought. With four homers in 25 games to start the 2024 season, Walker is behind the pace established the last two seasons when the first baseman launched 36 (2022) and 33 homers (2023); however, he had just four April home runs in each of those two previous seasons. It seems Walker's more productive months are ahead of him. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:18 am
    • Three hits in win
Witt went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base during Tuesday's 3-2 win over Toronto.

Advice: Witt's fifth-inning double proved to be the difference-maker in Tuesday's contest, plating two runs to give the Royals a 3-2 lead they would hold for the rest of the game. The 23-year-old shortstop remains one of baseball's top young stars with a .316/.362/.582 slash line through 105 plate appearances, and he's now logged a base hit in each of his last four games.
