    • Brewers activating Mitchell, demoting Black
      The Brewers will activate Garrett Mitchell and send down Tyler Black prior to Monday’s game in Colorado.

      Advice: It seemed like Black would get more of a look this time around, but after four games in which he collected three hits and three walks, the Brewers glued him to the bench for the entire last week. Now they’ll be creating a logjam in the outfield by activating Mitchell while keeping Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins around. Jackson Chourio has turned into a fixture in right, so the Brewers will be choosing between Mitchell, Frelick, Perkins and Jake Bauers for two lineup spots each day.       Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, walk, three RBI, and two runs scored on Sunday against the Astros.

      Advice: Nimmo’s two extra-base hits came at extremely clutch times for the Mets: his two-run homer, the 100th of his career, tied this game in the seventh and his RBI double again brought the Mets even in extra innings. His resurgence over the last few weeks has been a spectacle as he’s pulled his OPS up from .708 on June 13th to .815 today. He’s found a home in the two-hole of the Mets’ lineup and is on pace for 26 homers, 30 doubles, 106 runs scored, 100 RBI, and 10 stolen bases this season. That is the statline of a bona fide stud.       Trevor Larnach belted a go-ahead two-run homer on Sunday, leading the Twins to a 5-3 victory over the Mariners.

      Advice: Larnach crushed a 406-foot blast to right-center field off Mariners reliever Ryne Stanek in the eighth inning to put the Twins ahead for good on Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Park.     • Justyn-Henry Malloy homers, Tigers edge Angels
      Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park homer on Sunday, leading the Tigers to a 7-6 win over the Angels.

      Advice: Malloy has compiled cringe-inducing numbers this season since getting the call to the majors back in early June, but he made his presence felt in this one with a two-run, inside-the-park homer off Angels southpaw Tyler Anderson in the fourth inning. It was just his third big fly in 23 games so far in the big leagues as he’s also struck out 28 times in 73 plate appearances during that span. The 24-year-old was an on-base machine in the upper minors, but he’s still clearly a work in progress at the highest level.       Jo Adell hammered a two-run homer on Sunday in the Angels’ loss to the Tigers.

      Advice: Adell made things interesting in the ninth inning with a two-out homer off Tigers reliever Shelby Miller to bring the Halos within one run at the time, but their surreal comeback effort came up just short, and their six-game winning streak was also snapped in the process. The 25-year-old has cratered back to Earth in June after such a promising start to the year. He’s batting .139 (11-for-79) with two homers, one steal and 26 strikeouts since June 1.       De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-6 loss against Philadelphia.

      Advice: De La Cruz broke out of a mini slump after going 4-for-28 over his last seven games with a nice showing on Sunday. His 15 home runs in 82 games this season are just four behind the career high he set last season in 153 games.       Ward (head) exited Sunday's game against the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth inning after being hit the in head by a pitch, Greg Beacham of The Associated Press reports. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in his first three plate appearances of the day.

      Advice: Ward was struck in the head after a 93 mile per hour fastball got away from reliever Shelby Miller. The outfielder looked to be OK after getting hit, with his removal from the contest potentially being a matter of precaution, according to Beacham. The 30-year-old missed the final three months of the 2023 campaign after being hit in the face by a pitch from Toronto starter Alek Manoah, making the situation Sunday particularly jarring.
