    • Taking seat Monday
Ortiz is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Ortiz had started each of the previous 10 contests but will begin this one on the bench. Andruw Monasterio will cover third base while Ortiz gets some rest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:17 pm

    • Eloy Jiménez in lineup despite hamstring soreness
Eloy Jiménez is in the starting lineup as a DH on Monday after experiencing hamstring soreness in his return Sunday.

Advice: It’ll be a small miracle if Jiménez doesn’t wind up aggravating the hamstring bad enough to go back on the injured list, but we’ll see. He’s batting cleanup tonight. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:14 pm

    • Likely bound for reserve role
Moore is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Advice: The versatile Moore should retain a regular spot in the Seattle lineup against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to play against righties should take a sizable hit with Jorge Polanco (hamstring) making his return from the injured list Monday. Moore had already seen his streak of nine consecutive starts come to an end in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Marlins, when manager Scott Servais opted to move him to the bench against Miami right-hander Kyle Tyler. • Will be in Monday's lineup
Jimenez (hamstring) will be in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Dodgers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The White Sox haven't yet released their lineup for the series opener, but Jimenez has evidently received the green light to make a second consecutive start. Jimenez was noticeably gimpy while running the bases in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers in his first game back from a stint on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain. The apparent aggravation of the hamstring injury won't cause him to miss any starts, at least not yet. Certainly, Jimenez will remain a major injury risk as he attempts to play through some discomfort. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:11 am

    • Logs first multi-hit game
Rice went 2-for-3 in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Rice was one of two Yankees with multiple hits in the contest, and it was the first multi-hit effort of his career. The 25-year-old started at first base for the fifth time in six contests since being called up, and three of those games have been against left-handed starters, against whom he's gone just 1-for-9. Rice has otherwise held his own overall in going 5-for-17 with a 3:3 BB:K, but he'll likely begin yielding some starts against southpaws to J.D. Davis, whom the Yankees acquired Sunday. • Swipes sixth bag
Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Cruz made plenty of highlights Saturday by blasting a home run into the Allegheny River, but he's slumped with only two hits across 19 at-bats during Pittsburgh's current homestand. He did manage to tally his sixth stolen base of the season Sunday, his first since returning from ankle soreness that caused him to miss games on June 14th and 15th. • Punches out 10 at Coors Field
Irvin didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Rockies, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts across six innings.

Advice: Irvin tied his career high in strikeouts Sunday, matching his K total from a May 28 start against Atlanta. The lone run against the 27-year-old came on a solo home run by Michael Toglia in the second inning -- the game's lone run until the Nationals' two-run ninth inning. Irvin has logged a quality start in five of his last six starts and holds a 2.06 ERA with 37 strikeouts across 35.0 innings during that stretch. He's expected to make his next start against the Rays in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com Sunday, 10:41 pm
    • Notches fifth steal
Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Ortiz logged his second multi-hit effort in a row after going 11 contests without one. The infielder has maintained a strong .278/.383/.449 slash line with six home runs, five steals, 27 RBI, 31 runs scored, 13 doubles and two triples over 244 plate appearances this season. While the overall numbers are good, he has just three extra-base hits across 20 games in June. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:41 pm

    • Jake Irvin lights out against Rockies
Jake Irvin allowed one run on three hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday.

Advice: Irvin also struck out 10 and walked just one. His only blemish was a solo home run to Michael Toglia in the second inning. It was a tremendous effort for the 27-year-old in Coors Field, posting a 39 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. Irvin has let his curveball lead of late, which is a great decision since he commands the pitch well and he can also miss bats with it. He likely will remain a high-end streamer rather than a must-roster player, but that can still be valuable with offense down around the league. He should be started next week against the Rays.
