• Reinstated to start Friday
The Blue Jays reinstated Rodriguez (back) from the 15-day injured list to start Friday against the Guardians.

Advice: The right-hander has been on the shelf since late April due to thoracic spine inflammation, but he'll re-enter Toronto's rotation for Friday's series opener in Cleveland. Rodriguez built up to 79 pitches in his final rehab outing and should be able to handle a full starting workload. However, the Blue Jays were handling the 27-year-old's workload carefully prior to the injury, so it's possible Rodriguez is utilized in conjunction with Bowden Francis, who has been handling a bulk-relief role. • Jake Cronenworth delivers walkoff homer for Padres
Jake Cronenworth hit a walkoff homer off Joel Payamps as the Padres edged the Brewers 7-6 on Thursday.

Advice: Payamps couldn’t possibly have made a worse 3-2 pitch, and Cronenworth deposited the breaking ball 355 feet down the right field line for his 11th homer of the year. That’s one more in 74 games this season than he had in 127 games last year Cronenworth had been in a little 2-for-24 slump since his previous homer on June 11. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:17 pm
  • Jeremiah Estrada winds up with win after BS
Jeremiah Estrada took a blown save but ended up with a win after allowing two runs in the ninth Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: In Estrada’s defense, he really should have Christian Yelich struck out to begin the ninth, which probably would have led to a scoreless frame. Instead, he allowed two runs after surrendering two runs on a walk to Yelich and two hits. It was quite curious that the Padres decided to use Estrada and avoid Robert Suarez tonight. Both had worked the previous two days, but Suarez threw fewer pitchers in those outings, had, unlike Estrada, gone four straight days without working previously and is the older of the two by eight years. If we were the Padres, we’d consider Estrada the more important reliever of the two going forward. Suarez, though, is in the second year of a five-year, $46 million contract. • Heliot Ramos stays hot with 10th homer in loss
Heliot Ramos blasted a three-run homer on Thursday in the Giants’ loss to the Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Advice: Ramos put San Francisco on the board with a no-doubter to right field in the third inning off Cardinals starter Andre Pallante for his 10th round-tripper of the season. The 24-year-old post-hype prospect has put together a pretty remarkable breakout campaign so far, batting .307 (46-for-150) with 10 homers, 35 RBI and one steal through 39 games. He’s homered eight times in 18 games since June 1. Unreal. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 pm
  • Marlins release veteran reliever Burch Smith
    Marlins released RHP Burch Smith.

Advice: Smith passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week and the two sides have agreed to part ways. The 34-year-old journeyman reliever posted a respectable 4.25 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 23/9 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings (25 appearances) this season for Miami. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as extra organizational relief depth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:49 pm

  • Witt Jr. blasts 12th home run in win Thursday
Bobby Witt Jr. went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: The home run was Witt Jr.'s 12th of the year. He hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to give the Royals a 3-2 lead. One of the best players in all of fantasy, Witt Jr.'s hitting .322 with a .921 OPS with 53 RBI this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:57 pm
  • Victor Scott II serving as 27th man on Thursday
Victor Scott II will serve as the 27th man for Thursday’s game against the Giants at Rickwood Field in Alabama.

Advice: Scott gives the Cardinals a speedy pinch-running option for Thursday’s highly-anticipated showdown at historic Rickwood Field, the oldest professional ballpark in the United States. The 23-year-old speedster posted two steals in 20 games earlier this year in his first taste of the majors. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:39 pm
  • Cardinals call up Adam Kloffenstein on Thursday
Cardinals recalled RHP Adam Kloffenstein from Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Kloffenstein provides St. Louis with some extra long relief depth behind Thursday’s starter Andre Pallante. The 23-year-old righty earns his first promotion to the majors after compiling a respectable 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 68/29 K/BB ratio over 77 innings (14 starts) this season for Triple-A Memphis.
