• Could be back sooner than expected
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Wednesday that Williams (back) could return from the 60-day injured list sooner than his initial mid-to-late-July recovery timeline, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Williams was scheduled for a bullpen session Wednesday, which would have marked his first time throwing off a mound since being shut down during spring training with multiple stress fractures in his back. He will need to throw off the bump multiple times and eventually go out on a rehab assignment before being activated. That said, while Williams still has multiple checkpoints to hit in his rehab program, he looks to be in a good spot with his recovery. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:33 am

  • Gregory Santos (lat) nears rehab assignment
Gregory Santos (lat) is slated to throw a live batting practice session on Friday.

Advice: Santos is expected to head out on a minor league rehab assignment shortly afterwards, assuming he gets through Friday’s session without any issues. The 24-year-old high-leverage specialist has been on the shelf since spring training due to a lat issue. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:12 pm

  • Strong showing in live BP
Santos (lat) came away from his live batting practice session Saturday feeling very encouraged after deploying his sinker/slider combination, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santos faced rookies Ryan Bliss and Tyler Locklear before Saturday's game in Miami and flummoxed both players consistently, not allowing either to put the ball in play over the quick 10-pitch session. Santos is slated to throw another bullpen session during the Mariners' current three-game series at Tropicana Field against the Rays, with another live batting practice a possibility in the days following. Assuming he continues free of setbacks through those sessions, Santos would then be set to begin a fairly lengthy rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:48 am

  • Notches 12th save
Fairbanks earned his 12th save of the season Monday against Seattle, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Fairbanks picked up his second save in as many days, totaling three strikeouts while not allowing a single baserunner. The 30-year-old has pitched well in the month of June, going 7-for-8 in save chances with a 2.31 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP and an 11:2 K:BB in 11.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:31 pm
  • Pete Fairbanks silences M’s to net 12th save
Pete Fairbanks struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Mariners to record his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Fairbanks got the call to protect a one-run lead in the final frame after Tampa Bay erased a one-run deficit in the eighth inning and needed just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to slam the door. It was his second straight perfect outing after an ugly blown save last week against the Twins. He’s converted 12 of his 14 save chances this season to accompany a 3.25 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 30/12 K/BB ratio across 27 2/3 innings (28 appearances). Rotoworld Monday, 7:41 pm
  • Tosses four innings
Tyler allowed two runs on three hits and three walks over four innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out two during the win over Seattle.

Advice: Tyler made his first career MLB start and first MLB appearance since April 26. He worked three scoreless frames before coughing up a two-run homer to Luke Raley in the fourth inning. Tyler threw just 36 of 65 pitches for strikes. Due to several injuries to Miami's pitching staff, he could draw another start with the big club. As of now, Tyler would currently be lined up to start in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:48 pm

  • Will throw from mound this week
Williams (back) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday in Milwaukee, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Williams is poised for the next big milestone in his recovery from multiple stress fractures in his back, which have kept him sidelined him for the entirety of the 2024 campaign to this point. If the 29-year-old can avoid any setbacks, he remains on track to return to the Brewers bullpen in late July, likely after the All-Star break. Williams will likely need to complete multiple bullpen sessions before advancing to facing hitters and then heading out on what will likely be a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment. • Pete Fairbanks perfect in earning 11th save
Pete Fairbanks notched his 11th save with a scoreless ninth versus the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: Fairbanks struck out one while protecting a two-run lead. The closer had allowed single runs in three of his previous four appearances. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:14 pm
  • Kyle Tyler lasts four innings in first start
Kyle Tyler allowed two runs in four innings Sunday against the Mariners. He walked three and struck out two in his first career start.

Advice: ‘Kyle Tyler’ feels like a name MLB The Show auto-generates for you when you’re 15 years deep into franchise mode. With that, Tyler was unspectacular despite a nice looking curveball. The Marlins have six starters on the IL so they’ll have to keep plugging this rotation with whoever they can find. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:24 pm
