• Reports to big-league club
The Angels activated Goodrum on Friday.

Advice: Goodrum had been with the Rays' Triple-A affiliate when he was DFA'd and later claimed by the Angels, but he will return to the majors as replacement depth for Ehire Adrianza, (back) who landed on the injured list Friday. Goodrum has experience at every position other than catcher, though he will likely return to the minors once Los Angeles' heavily-depleted infield unit begins returning from the IL. • Lands on injured list
The Angels placed Adrianza on the 10-day injured list Friday with back spasms, retroactive to Thursday.

Advice: Adrianza reported having problems with his lower back Friday, and the issue is apparently severe enough to warrant a trip to the injured list. Niko Goodrum will join the active roster to take Adrianza's spot after being claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Thursday. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Angels place Ehire Adrianza (back) on 10-day IL
Angels placed INF Ehire Adrianza on the 10-day injured list with back spasms.

Advice: The Angels already have Anthony Rendon, Luis Rengifo and Brandon Drury on the injured list, so why not place another infielder there for good measure. Luckily, Niko Goodrum arrived on Friday and will join the active roster to replace Adrianza. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Bobby Miller (shoulder) throws sim game Thursday
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw two innings in a simulated game on Thursday without any issues.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander will repeat the process on Sunday. If all goes well then, he could be cleared to face hitters in a live bullpen session. He’s making slow and methodical progress in his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder and could potentially be ready to rejoin the Dodgers’ rotation at the end of the month if everything goes according to plan. • Pirates option Alika Williams to Triple-A
Pirates optioned INF Alika Williams to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder didn’t do much in 51 plate appearances with the big league club, slashing .239/.271/.348 with zero homers, two RBI and a 9/2 K/B ratio. He’ll continue to function as extra infield depth for the Pirates at the Triple-a level. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

  • Pirates recall Nick Gonzales from Triple-A
Pirates recalled INF Nick Gonzales from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: The 24-year-old infielder was punishing the baseball once again at the Triple-A level, hitting .358 (43-for-120) with four homers in his first 30 games. He’ll once again be given a shot at securing the team’s everyday job at second base. Alika Williams was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

  • Zack Gelof (oblique) begins rehab assignment
Zack Gelof (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Advice: The dynamic 24-year-old infielder will play in games on Friday and on Sunday before being re-evaluated. If all goes well, there’s a chance that he could return to the A’s lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros in Houston. Before landing on the injured list, Gelof was hitting .196/.260/.337 with three homers, seven RBI and four stolen bases in 101 plate appearances. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago

  • Patrick Bailey (concussion) to return on Saturday
Patrick Bailey (concussion) is expected to be activated from the injured list on Saturday.

Advice: The 24-year-old backstop caught a bullpen session for Blake Snell on Friday without any issues, which was the final hurdle to clear before returning. Expect Jakson Reetz to be optioned back to Triple-A Sacramento to clear a spot on the active roster. Rotoworld Today, 4:47 pm

  • Jason Heyward (back) nearing rehab assignment
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that Jason Heyward (back) will begin a rehab assignment at some point next week.

Advice: The 34-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since the beginning of April due to stiffness in his back. He has been making progress in recent weeks though and is on track to return to the Dodgers’ lineup before the end of May barring any setbacks. Rotoworld Today, 4:45 pm
