• Jung Hoo Lee to undergo season-ending surgery
Jung Hoo Lee will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Advice: It had been anticipated that Lee would be sidelined for most — if not all — of the season after crashing into the center-field wall at Oracle Park over the weekend, and now it’s official. The 25-year-old finishes his first season stateside hitting .262/.310/.331 with a pair of homers, 15 runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases in 37 games. He should be ready to go for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

  • Kyle Harrison has start pushed back until Saturday
Kyle Harrison will have his start pushed back until Saturday, with Mason Black taking his place on Friday evening against the Rockies.

Advice: Giants’ manager Bob Melvin simply wanted to get Harrison and Jordan Hicks an extra day of rest, which is why he inserted Black into the team’s rotation on Friday night instead of in the spot vacated by the injured Keaton Winn (forearm). They both still get to take on the lowly Rockies, so nothing changes from a fantasy perspective. Rotoworld Today, 3:33 pm
  • Giants option Casey Schmitt back to Triple-A
Giants optioned INF Casey Schmitt to Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Once again, the 25-year-old infielder’s stay at the big league level was short-lived this time around. Schmitt went just 3-for-22 (.136) with one RBI and a 5/0 K/BB ratio in his six games with the Giants this time around. He’ll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until he’s called upon once more. • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. Rotoworld Today, 3:27 pm
  • Close to swinging
Manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Mitchell (finger) is scheduled to begin swinging a bat during the Brewers' upcoming road trip, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Murphy suggested Mitchell's return to swinging will likely occur while the team is in Boston between May 24-26. Assuming the Brewers are still following general manager Matt Arnold's estimation of a June 1 return, Mitchell would be in line to begin a rehab assignment shortly after Milwaukee's series against the Red Sox. The speedy outfielder has been on the injured list all season after suffering a fractured finger during spring training. Rotowire.com Today, 3:26 pm
  • Giants place Keaton Winn (forearm) on 15-day IL
Giants placed RHP Keaton Winn on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 15, with a right forearm strain.

Advice: While manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Wednesday that Winn’s forearm strain was “pretty mild”, he also acknowledged that a stint on the injured list looked increasingly likely. Mason Black was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start for the Giants on Friday, with everyone else in the rotation getting bumped back a day. Rotoworld Today, 3:24 pm
  • Dodgers to promote Miguel Vargas from Triple-A
Francys Romero reports that the Dodgers plan to promote Miguel Vargas from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The 24-year-old has kind of forced their hand with his hot-hitting at the Triple-A Level — slashing .295/.437/.583 with eight homers, 38 RBI and eight stolen bases (in 14 attempts) over 181 plate appearances in 39 games. He played almost exclusively in left field during his time at Triple-A this season, so it’ll be interesting to see how he’s utilized by the Dodgers this time around. With Jason Heyward also expected to be activated from the injured list, the Dodgers will have to clear some room on their active roster on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 2:40 pm
  • Continuing assignment Saturday
Lowe (oblique) will resume his rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe initially landed on the injured list April 12 with a strained right oblique, and he played four rehab games in the minors before a setback temporarily halted his assignment Sunday. Now that he's been cleared to get back on the field, the plan is for Lowe to play two more games with Durham before returning to Tampa Bay on Monday ahead of its upcoming series against the Red Sox. • Slated for promotion
The Dodgers will recall Vargas from Triple-A Oklahoma City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The Dodgers are also set to activate Jason Heyward (back) from the injured list. There's no word yet on what the corresponding moves will be, but a demotion for James Outman is one scenario. Vargas has been used exclusively in left field with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, slashing .295/.437/.583 with eight home runs and eight stolen bases. He could see ample playing time in left field for the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 1:39 pm
