    • Oneil Cruz getting day off Saturday vs. Cubs
Oneil Cruz is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: It’s a routine off day for Cruz with lefty Shota Imanaga toeing the rubber for Chicago. The 25-year-old shortstop has hit a small rough patch of late, hitting .207 (6-for-29) over his last seven contests. He does have two homers and one steal during that stretch, but has also struck out eight times with only one walk as well. Rotoworld Today, 9:25 am
    • Optioned to St. Paul
The Twins optioned Martin to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday.

Advice: With Byron Buxton (knee) returning from the injured list, Martin will be pushed back to Triple-A. During his latest stint in the majors, the 25-year-old utility player went 3-for-14 with two stolen bases and scored three times in eight games. Rotowire.com Today, 9:24 am

Twins optioned INF/OF Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Martin was back up for a couple weeks as Byron Buxton’s replacement on Minnesota’s active roster, but will head back with the veteran center fielder set to return fro Saturday’s game in Cleveland. The 25-year-old rookie has batted .224/.289/.355 with one homer and four steals in 83 plate appearances over 30 contests this season at the highest level. Rotoworld Today, 9:17 am

    • Nico Hoerner (hamstring) not in Saturday’s lineup
Nico Hoerner (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Pirates.

Advice: There’s been zero indication that Hoerner will wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, but he’s out of Chicago’s lineup for the fifth straight game on Saturday afternoon due to ongoing left hamstring tightness. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day, but there’s a possibility the Cubs will have to send him to the injured list if he’s unable to return this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 8:38 am

    • Swipes two bags Friday
Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases Friday in a 3-1 win against Atlanta.

Advice: Bogaerts doubled his season stolen-base total with a swipe of second in each of the fifth and eighth innings. Prior to Friday, the second baseman's most recent theft took place April 22. Bogaerts has had a subpar start to the season with a .220/.268/.319 slash line through 194 plate appearances, but he's begin to come on of late, batting .350 with two homers and two RBI during his current five-game hitting streak. • Dansby Swanson (knee) likely back on Tuesday
Dansby Swanson (knee) is likely to be activated for Tuesday’s series opener against the Braves.

Advice: Swanson continues to ramp up baseball activities and it sounds like he’ll be activated early next week when first eligible to face his former club at Wrigley Field. The 30-year-old shortstop hit the shelf last week with a right knee sprain. Rotoworld Today, 8:33 am

    • Idle Saturday
Cabrera isn't in the Yankees' lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Cabrera will sit down Saturday after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout during New York's win over the Sox on Friday. His absence will give Jon Berti a chance to start at the hot corner while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 7:20 am

    • MLB to investigate David Fletcher for gambling
Major League Baseball is opening an investigation into David Fletcher’s alleged involvement with the same California bookmaker that also took illegal wagers from Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, according to Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Advice: ESPN.com’s Tisha Thompson first reported on Friday night that Fletcher bet on sports, but not baseball, with the same California bookmaker — Mathew Bowyer — that took wagers from Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara. The 29-year-old infielder played for the Angels from 2018-2023 and could wind up facing league discipline. It’s legal for players to bet on sports other than baseball, but not with an illegal bookmaker. Rotoworld Today, 4:15 am

    • Masyn Winn collects first homer of 2024
Masyn Winn’s first homer of the season with was a two-run shot off Boston’s Cam Booser in Friday’s win.

Advice: Winn hit the ball 402 feet, which was far and away his longest drive of the season. He previously had a 379-foot double off Sean Manaya, but he hadn’t hit anything else over 350 feet in 142 plate appearances. Winn has been perfectly solid in batting .280/.343/.384 this year, but his profile doesn’t suggest that he’ll be hitting many more homers in his first full season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:52 pm
