    • Not in starting nine
Arcia (tooth) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Arcia is dealing with an abscessed tooth and will be held out of the starting lineup for a second straight game. Though it's unclear exactly when he'll be available to start, Arcia had the issue addressed Tuesday, so it's likely he'll be cleared in the coming days. Zack Short will bat ninth and play shortstop. • Returns to action
Thomas started in center field, batted eighth and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Thomas played his first game after being activated off the injured list. He missed three months due to a hamstring injury, and the rehab process lingered, including a setback early in May. Thomas has habitually struggled to hit left-handers, but he should be a lineup staple against right-handers. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:01 am
    • Homer, steal in win
Rooker went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-5 win over the Angels.

Advice: Rooker has hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with three homers in that span. He offers more power than speed -- with Tuesday's performance, he has 16 long balls and three steals across 72 contests this year. The 29-year-old has added a .261/.338/.515 slash line with 48 RBI, 30 runs scored, 15 doubles and two triples as the Athletics' top designated hitter. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:21 pm

    • Brent Rooker has jack and a bag in win over Angels
Brent Rooker socked a dinger and stole a base on Tuesday evening as the Athletics triumphed over the visiting Angels.

Advice: The 29-year-old slugger opened the scoring in the ballgame with his 405-foot (108.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Angels’ starter Jose Soriano in the fourth inning. Rooker also drew a walk in the fifth inning and swiped second base, but he was left stranded there. He finished the night 1-for-3 and is now hitting a respectable .261/.338/.515 to go along with 16 long balls, 48 RBI and three stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:07 pm

    • Spencer Horwitz homers in win
Spencer Horwitz went 1-for-4 with a home run in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Advice: The rookie hit two balls over 100 mph tonight with a 102.6 mph lineout and then a 101.6 mph home run that went 377 feet for his third home run of the season. It took a bit of time for the Blue Jays to play Horwitz regularly, but he has been starting against all right-handed pitchers of late and is hitting .306/.442/.500 in 22 MLB games. He hits second every time he plays and should continue to post strong batting averages and on-base percentages. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:02 pm
    • D-backs activate Gabriel Moreno for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated C Gabriel Moreno from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Moreno is officially back for Tuesday’s series opener against the division-rival Dodgers following a nearly two-week absence due to a left thumb sprain. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:38 pm
    • D-backs activate Alek Thomas for Tuesday return
Diamondbacks activated OF Alek Thomas from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Thomas will make his long-awaited return to Arizona’s lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers after missing three months due to a hamstring strain and a couple setbacks during his rehabilitation process. Rotoworld Tuesday, 3:36 pm
    • Back from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Thomas (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Thomas suffered a left hamstring strain during the fourth game of the season, and multiple setbacks have contributed to his three-month absence. Now, after playing in 10 rehab games between the Arizona Complex League and Triple-A, the 24-year-old outfielder has been cleared to return to the big-league roster. It's possible the D-backs have him sit occasionally as he gets used to facing MLB pitchers again, but he'll almost certainly reclaim his role as Arizona's primary center fielder. Blaze Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:31 pm
    • Activated from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Moreno (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: The 24-year-old landed on the shelf with a sprained thumb June 22 and will rejoin Arizona after being on the injured list for the 10-day minimum. Moreno has a .230/.313/.346 slash line through 61 games this season and should reclaim primary catching duties for the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 3:18 pm
