      Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Jung (wrist) returned to Texas to be evaluated and "make sure everything's fine," Kennedi Landry of MLB.comreports.

      Advice: The 26-year-old was shut down over the weekend after experiencing residual soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist, and he apparently wasn't able to resume taking live batting practice Monday as hoped. Bochy didn't rule out a return before the end of the current road trip that wraps up this weekend in Baltimore, but for now, Jung's immediate outlook is up in the air as he gets checked out.       Rangers general manager Chris Young told reporters Josh Jung is dealing with tendon inflammation in his surgically-repaired right wrist.

      Advice: Not great. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Jung didn’t take batting practice on Tuesday and declined to offer an updated timetable. The hope was that the 26-year-old third baseman would be ready to return at some point this week, but he’s headed back to Texas to undergo further testing after experiencing soreness last week in his surgically-repaired wrist.     • Sidelined at least four weeks
      Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Marte (knee) will be sidelined for "at least four weeks," Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

      Advice: Marte will be shut down for 15 days to allow a right knee bone bruise to heal and will need time to ramp things back up after that. A rehab assignment at some point before activation seems likely. Ben Gamel replaced Marte on the roster and could see some reps in right field, although DJ Stewart and Tyrone Taylor should be higher in the pecking order.       Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters Starling Marte (knee) is expected to miss at least four weeks.

      Advice: It’s a significant loss for the Mets as Marte finally landed on the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees after playing through a right knee issue for an extended period. The 35-year-old veteran corner outfielder has been diagnosed with a bone bruise and Mendoza indicated that it’ll be at least one month before he’s ready to return.       The Mets placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right knee bone bruise.

      Advice: Marte was given the diagnosis following an MRI and has been prescribed 15 days of rest. The hope is that he will be able to ramp back up after that point, but with two weeks of no activities, a return before the All-Star break seems unlikely.       Advice: Marte picked up the knee injury Saturday against the Cubs, and he’s been told he needs to rest for at least 15 days before he can return to action.       Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Verlander (neck) has yet to resume throwing, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Verlander has been shut down for more than a week with neck discomfort and continues to progress more slowly than expected. The veteran right-hander is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list Monday, but it's too early at this point to know whether he will be ready to go on that day.     • Justin Verlander (neck) still not ready to throw
      Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Tuesday that Justin Verlander (neck) is still making slower progress than anticipated.

      Advice: Espada reiterated that this issue isn’t a shoulder, elbow or arm problem; but strictly issues with neck stiffness. The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with the issue, and at this point, it seems unlikely that we see Verlander back until the middle of July — possibly after the All-Star break.       Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-1 win over the Marlins.

      Advice: Perez had gone 0-for-14 over his previous four games, and he'd gone seven contests without an extra-base hit. Both droughts ended when the catcher went back-to-back with Vinnie Pasquantino in the fourth inning, with Perez's homer serving as the decisive run. A poor June -- 11-for-57 (.157) over 20 games -- has taken some of the shine off of what was a strong start to the year for Perez.
