    • MRI shows no structural damage
Romano (elbow) had an MRI on his right elbow Friday night, which didn't reveal any structural damage, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his throwing elbow, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. The 31-year-old will be shut down from throwing for a few days before Toronto will determine what direction the team will go from there. Yimi Garcia is considered the frontrunner to operate as the closer for the Blue Jays in Romano's absence. Rotowire.com Today, 12:02 pm

    • Placed on 15-day IL
Romano was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to May 30, with right elbow inflammation, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Romano was unavailable for Friday's 5-3 victory over the Pirates due to right elbow soreness and he'll now be forced to miss a couple weeks of action while nursing the injury. The 31-year-old produced a 9.00 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over eight innings, while suffering a blown save and being tagged with a pair of losses in nine appearances with Toronto in May, so the time off could serve as a reset button for him. In the meantime, left-hander Brendon Little was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday to replace him on the major-league roster. In Romano's absence, Yimi Garcia and Chad Green represent a pair of candidates to absorb the ninth-inning role. Rotowire.com Today, 10:04 am

    • Blue Jays put closer Jordan Romano (elbow) on IL
Blue Jays placed RHP Jordan Romano on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

Advice: Romano heads to the injured list after being unavailable Friday due to elbow soreness. The 31-year-old stopper underwent an MRI on Friday that didn’t reveal any structural damage, which is an encouraging development. There should be a clearer timetable for his return at some point in the coming days once he’s cleared to resume throwing. Fantasy managers should anticipate him missing at least a few weeks. It’ll most likely be Yimi García or Chad Green taking over as Toronto’s temporary closer for now. Rotoworld Today, 9:50 am

    • Day off Saturday
Mullins is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Tampa Bay.

Advice: Mullins will get a breather after going 1-for-12 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored while starting the last four games. Colton Cowser will slide over to center field while Kyle Stowers enters the lineup in left field and bats eighth against the Rays. Rotowire.com Today, 9:21 am

    • Breather Saturday
McCormick is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Twins.

Advice: McCormick will head to the bench after he went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in Friday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota. Mauricio Dubon will take over in left field and bat seventh Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:14 am

    • Josh Lowe (oblique) posts two hits Friday at AAA
Josh Lowe (oblique) went 2-for-4 with a run scored on Friday for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: There’s some buzz that Lowe will be ready to return to Tampa Bay early next week, but he’s going to get in at least a couple additional rehab contests this weekend for Triple-A Durham. The 26-year-old fantasy stalwart has been out since late May recovering from a mild right oblique strain. Rotoworld Today, 5:06 am

    • Triples, drives in four
Marte went 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBI, a run scored and a walk in Friday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Marte ripped a bases-clearing triple in the first inning and followed it up with an RBI single in the fourth. After a 3-for-19 slump over nine games, he closed out May with three straight multi-hit performances. Marte boosted his slash line to .271/.321/.407 with nine steals, 23 RBI and 28 runs scored through 216 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:58 am

    • Chas McCormick strikes out three times
Chas McCormick fanned all three times he was up Friday versus the Twins.

Advice: The Astros have decided that José Abreu’s pre-2023 track record matters more than McCormick’s impressive 2023 output and have thus started McCormick just twice in the last six games. We think that’s probably the wrong call, but at the same time, McCormick has not, in any way, resembled the threat he was last year. We still think the Astros should give him a few weeks of regular playing time to see if he can bounce back, but we’re not especially optimistic that he would take advantage of said opportunity. • Starring role in win
Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Tovar was the only Rockie with multiple hits in the contest. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season. He still hits far better at home (.862 OPS), but he's been passable on the road this season as well with a .757 OPS away from Coors Field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:23 pm
