    • Escapes with save
Doval allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Friday, striking out one and earning a save over Cleveland.

Advice: Doval put the first two batters of the inning on base but escaped the jam to close out the 4-2 win. It was his third straight save conversion and he's now 17 for 20 in opportunities this season. Doval has not looked like his usual self; his current ERA and WHIP of 4.04 and 1.54, respectively, are both career highs. Rotowire.com Today, 7:58 pm
    • Drew Thorpe strikes out five in win over Marlins
Drew Thorpe was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Marlins in Miami, surrendering just one run on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The rookie right-hander punched out five batters on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. He held the Marlins scoreless through the first six frames, but returned for the seventh where he allowed a one-out double to Dane Myers before turning the ball over to the bullpen — and he ultimately scored. Thorpe generated 10 swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night — nine of those on his changeup — while posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent. He’ll see if he can replicate this success as he carries a 3-1 record, 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and an 18/14 K/BB ratio (26 2/3 innings) into his final start of the first half on Wednesday against the Twins. • Idle against southpaw
Mullins is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Mullins will avoid a matchup with LHP Hogan Harris on Friday, giving way to Colton Cowser in center field. Mullins is slashing .220/.265/.388 with nine homers and 16 stolen bases across 268 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 4:13 pm

    • Getting breather
Springer is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Springer will get his first true day off since June 18, yielding to Addison Barger in right field. After a slow start to 2024, Springer has began to turn thing around as of late, going 14-for-30 with four home runs over his last nine games. Rotowire.com Today, 3:57 pm

    • Snaps slump with three hits
Verdugo went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Thursday's loss to Cincinnati.

Advice: Verdugo entered Thursday in the throes of a 12-game slump during which he went 6-for-47 (.128 average). The outfielder showed positive signs of getting back on track against the Reds, not only collecting three knocks but also producing two extra-base hits -- as many as he had tallied during that entire 12-game downturn. While Verdugo is on pace to set a career high in homers and RBI this season (he has nine long balls and 43 runs batted in through 85 games), his .248 batting average and .305 OBP are both on pace for his lowest marks since his 15-game cup of coffee with the Dodgers in 2017. • Swats homer in victory
Pena went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Thursday's 5-3 victory against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Houston and Toronto combined for 19 hits in the contest, but only two went for extra bases, and Pena notched the lone long ball with his solo shot to left field in the seventh inning. The shortstop has hit two homers and two doubles during his current four-game hitting streak, and he's driven in three runs while scoring four times during that span. The recent upswing in power is a welcome sign for Pena's fantasy managers after he went deep just five times across his first 80 contests of the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:16 pm

    • Lowe fills up stat sheet against Royals Thursday
Josh Lowe went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Lowe’s stolen base was his sixth of the season. He drove in Isaac Paredes with an RBI double in the first inning and scored on Ben Rortvedt’s two-run single in the fifth inning. Jose Siri pinch hit for him later in the game with a left-handed pitcher on the mound. Lowe is hitting just .223 with a .709 OPS and 14 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:50 pm

    • Converts 16th save
Doval allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Doval has converted his first two save chances in July after a tumultuous June that saw him produce two four-run blowups. He's allowed one run over his last seven innings, converting four of his five save chances in that span. Overall, he's 16-for-19 in saves with a 4.15 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB through 34.2 innings, though his status as the Giants' closer hasn't been threatened. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:07 pm
    • Doval picks up 16th save against Braves Thursday
Camilo Doval tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Braves on Thursday.

Advice: The save was his 16th of the season. Doval recorded two strikeouts and allowed one hit in the ninth inning. He has a 4.15 ERA on the season, but continues to be a reliable source of saves for fantasy managers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm
