      Dansby Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Reds on Saturday.

      Advice: Swanson’s two-run home run in the eighth inning was the difference in the Cubs’ 7-5 victory over the Reds. It was his fifth home run of the season. Swanson is due to improve at the plate at some point as his .208 batting average is the worst of his career and his .131 ISO is his worst since his first full MLB campaign in 2017.     • Ke’Bryan Hayes belts two-run homer in victory
      Ke’Bryan Hayes went 2-for-4 and belted a two-run homer on Saturday, powering the Pirates to a lopsided 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

      Advice: Hayes put the exclamation point on a three-run first inning for the Pirates with his 404-foot (107.8 mph EV) two-run blast off of Yusei Kikuchi. That would be more than enough run support for Mitch Keller and company in this one. Hayes also led off the sixth inning with a single and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Jared Triolo. The third baseman has a disappointing .237/.318/.311 slash line through 36 games with one homer and 12 RBI, but if he can stay healthy he's capable of heating up over the summer.       Edouard Julien was lifted for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 against the Astros on Friday.

      Advice: A demotion to Triple-A for Julien is very much a possibility as the countermove for when Royce Lewis rejoins the Twins. He’s still very likely Minnesota’s long-term second baseman, but he’s not currently getting the job done while hitting .205/.305/.367. Willi Castro could slide to second in his place.       Edouard Julien, Max Kepler, Trevor Larnach, and Alex Kirilloff are not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Royals.

      Advice: Normally, this would be a signal that the Twins are facing a left-handed starter, but they’re facing Brady Singer. This could have something to do with it being a day game after a night game, but Brady Singer does have reverse splits over his career. Perhaps the Twins think stacking righties against him will give them a better chance to win. However, Julien not being in the lineup is also noteworthy because he has not been performing of late, slashing .186/.278/.200 in 24 games in May with a 36.7 percent strikeout rate.
