    • Nolan Jones goes deep in loss to White Sox
Nolan Jones went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Jones took Jonathan Cannon deep for a two-run shot in the fifth inning. It was only his third home run of the season as he’s struggled to a .192/.298/.323 slash line, striking out 33.1 percent of the time across 151 plate appearances. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

    • Cal Quantrill serves up three homers in loss to White Sox
Cal Quantrill allowed five runs with eight strikeout over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Quantrill was cruising through four inning, allowing just two baserunners into the fifth. Things unraveled quickly. Lenyn Sosa took him deep for a two-run shot to put the White Sox on the board. Luis Robert Jr. followed with a solo homer to lead off the sixth. Then Paul Delong put Chicago ahead with a two-run blast that would knock Quantrill from the game with one out in the sixth. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 3.78 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 72/34 K/BB ratio across 95 1/3 innings into a start against the Brewers in Colorado on Thursday. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
    • Sitting Saturday
Hamilton is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against San Diego, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Advice: Hamilton went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres, and he'll begin Saturday's contest in the dugout. Ceddanne Rafaela will start at shortstop and bat ninth against San Diego right-hander Michael King. Rotowire.com Today, 8:54 am
    • David Hamilton not in Saturday’s lineup vs. Padres
David Hamilton is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Padres.

Advice: Hamilton has hit a bit of a rough patch over the last few days with just four hits in 20 at-bats over his last seven games. He does have one homer and three steals during that span. The 26-year-old speedster has been one of the more unexpected first-half breakout performers from a fantasy standpoint with five homers and 21 steals in 55 games after batting .121 in a brief 15-game cameo last year in Boston. • Sitting vs. lefty
Varsho is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: With the Yankees sending left-hander Nestor Cortes to the mound Saturday, Varsho will retreat to the bench. Varsho returned to the starting lineup Thursday after sitting the three games prior due to a back injury, and he's gone 0-for-8 with five strikeouts over his last two starts. Kevin Kiermaier will start in center field Saturday and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 8:38 am

    • On base four times in loss
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Mets.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger consistently got himself into scoring position, but the rest of the Houston lineup had trouble bringing him around. Since missing a couple games earlier in the month to attend to a personal matter, Alvarez has gone 9-for-27 (.333) in seven contests with three doubles, two homers, four RBI and five runs. Friday's steal was also his career-high fourth of the season -- he came into 2024 with only two in 482 career games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
    • Takes no-decision Friday
Gilbert allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Gilbert had posted back-to-back starts of eight shutout innings, so this was a small step back. It was an improvement on his previous start versus the Twins, in which he allowed a season-high eight runs over four innings in Minnesota on May 9. Since that start, Gilbert has completed at least six frames in each of his last nine outings, earning eight quality starts in that span. He's at a stellar 2.72 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 102:21 K:BB over 112.1 innings across 17 outings this season. Gilbert's lined up for a tough matchup versus the Orioles in his next projected start. • Power surge continues Friday
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 16-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: His solo shot off Luke Weaver in the seventh inning wrapped up the scoring for the Blue Jays on the night and made the score 7-5, but the Toronto bullpen imploded late. Guerrero has multiple hits in five straight games and six of the last seven, batting .406 (13-for-32) over that latter stretch with four doubles, five homers, eight runs and 14 RBI. • Brenton Doyle collects seventh homer, 19th steal
Brenton Doyle went 2-for-4 with a homer and a steal versus the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Doyle came into the night batting .235/.258/.284 in June and was one more bad game away seeing his OPS drop below .700, so this helps a bunch. He still shouldn’t be batting at the top of the Rockies order right now, but for as long it continues, he’ll be worth playing in mixed leagues, especially when the Rockies are at home.
