    • Jack Flaherty strikes out six in no-decision
Jack Flaherty had mixed results in a no-decision against the Rays on Wednesday, giving up four runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: On the plus side, Flaherty racked up six strikeouts on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. He served up a solo homer to Randy Arozarena in the first inning, then the Rays broke through for three runs in the second — though a couple of those runs could have been unearned if not for a questionable scorer’s decision. Flaherty piled up 15 swings and misses on the night and posted a strong CSW of 31 percent. He still holds an uninspiring 4.91 ERA on the season and hasn’t won a game, but he does have a sparkling 1.16 WHIP and a 36/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings. His luck should start to even out when he takes on his former team, the Cardinals, at home on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 7:13 pm

    • Shohei Ohtani raises average to .371 in blowout
Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-6 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday in the Dodgers’ blowout win over the Nationals.

Advice: We’re running out of superlatives to describe Ohtani’s exploits. He doubled three times in the one-sided affair, including a pair of runs-scoring knocks in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, to raise his batting average to an astronomical .371 (39-for-105) in the process. The 29-year-old two-way fantasy superstar has put together an unbelievable Dodgers debut so far with a 1.128 OPS to go along with 22 runs scored, six homers, 16 RBI and five steals through 26 games. • Two-run double in win
Nootbaar went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Nootbaar doubled in his final at-bat of the contest to send home Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, giving the Cardinals a 4-1 lead. It was only the left fielder's fourth multi-base hit of the season, though he's now driven in two runs in two of his last three games. Nootbaar has also hit safely in six of his last seven contests, but is still yet to put together a multi-hit performance. Rotowire.com Today, 4:28 pm

    • Craig Kimbrel gets save against Angels
Despite allowing an unearned run in the ninth, Craig Kimbrel picked up his seventh save Wednesday against the Orioles.

Advice: Kimbrel could have saved himself some trouble by handling Ehire Adrianza’s soft grounder to start the inning, but he missed it and second baseman Jorge Mateo threw wildly after picking up the ball, resulting in a single and a two-base error. Adrianza then came around to score on a groundout. Jo Adell walked with two outs, only to then end the game on a caught stealing. Replay suggested that he was safe at second, but the call stood after a lengthy challenge. Rotoworld Today, 4:17 pm
    • Gets day off
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carpenter's absence from the lineup is likely a result of the Rays' plan to deploy southpaw Tyler Alexander as their primary pitcher out of the bullpen. With Carpenter on the bench for the first time since April 9, Riley Greene and Wenceel Perez will occupy the corner-outfield spots while Mark Canha serves as Detroit's designated hitter. • Bashes long homer
Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Washington.

Advice: Ohtani capped the scoring in the contest with a 450-foot solo blast to right-center field. Per MLB.com, the homer was hit at 118.7 mph, making it the hardest-hit ball in the majors so far this season. It also extended Ohtani's hitting streak to eight games, during which he is slashing .414/.514/.655 with two long balls, four RBI, seven runs, three steals and a 6:6 BB:K. • In Wednesday's lineup
Contreras (hand) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: He made an early exit from Tuesday's loss to Arizona with lingering left hand soreness, although Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said afterward that Contreras' removal had more to do with the lopsided score. Contreras intends to continue playing through discomfort, but might see more reps at DH than catcher, opening up starts behind the plate for Ivan Herrera. Rotowire.com Today, 8:39 am
    • Hit hard in loss
Rodriguez (3-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels after allowing seven runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out seven over 4.1 innings.

Advice: Rodriguez allowed a career-high 11 hits and nearly matched his career high with seven runs allowed. While the 4.1 innings pitched was a season low, he still was able to rack up seven strikeouts, which were his most since April 5. The Angels scored at least a run in each of the first four innings and 10 of the 14 balls put in play against Rodriguez were hard hit. The 24-year-old now sits at a 4.45 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 34:9 K:BB in 28.1 innings and will look to get back on track in a divisional showdown with the Yankees. Rotowire.com Today, 7:06 am
    • Locks up save No. 4
Estevez struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save in a 7-4 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Advice: Estevez struck out Jackson Holliday and Adley Rutschman while getting Gunnar Henderson to ground out to retire the side in order. Tuesday was his first appearance in a week since blowing a save against the Rays. Outside of that outing, Estevez has been very reliable as the team's closer and doesn't face much competition for the job with Robert Stephenson (elbow) out for the year and Jose Soriano in the rotation. He now has four saves to go along with a 2.57 ERA, 0.57 WHIP and 7:0 K:BB in seven innings thus far. Rotowire.com Today, 6:46 am
