    • Breather Saturday
Brown will sit Saturday versus Minnesota.

Advice: Brown will get a day off after he went 2-for-13 with a double, an RBI and a run scored while starting the last four contests. Daz Cameron will draw the start in right field and bat seventh against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 8:24 am

    • Stuck in small-side platoon
Rosario went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Friday against Atlanta.

Advice: With both Brandon Lowe and Taylor Walls back healthy, Rosario has found his playing time nearly exclusively against lefties. He's hit well in the role, maintaining a .393 average with three RBI and four runs scored across his last 10 games, but he's started only one of the Rays' last six matchups against righties. • Red Sox release first baseman Garrett Cooper
Red Sox released 1B Garrett Cooper.

Advice: Cooper went unclaimed on waivers after posting a .455 OPS with zero homers and five RBI across 75 plate appearances in 24 contests for the Red Sox after being acquired back in late April from the Cubs in a small trade. The 33-year-old first baseman should be able to latch on somewhere else, but will probably have to settle for a minor league contract. Rotoworld Today, 6:28 am

    • Swats homer Friday
Suarez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Suarez led off the fourth inning with his sixth home run of the season. His struggles at the plate put his job at the Diamondbacks' primary third baseman in jeopardy, but Suarez started two of the three games since manager Torey Lovullo indicated Blaze Alexander would see more time at third base. • Brett Baty raises average to .519 at Triple-A
Brett Baty went 3-for-3 with an RBI on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Baty has torn the cover off the ball since a late-May demotion to the minors, batting an absurd .519 (14-for-27) with three homers and 10 RBI in six games for Triple-A Syracuse. The 24-year-old former top prospect seems to be re-gaining some much-needed confidence at the dish and appears to be also adding some defensive versatility to his toolkit by spending some time at second base recently. It’s unclear when Baty will get another shot in New York, but he’s showed some encouraging signs over the last few weeks away from the spotlight in the upper minors. Rotoworld Today, 3:37 am

    • Hits first homer of season
Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals.

Advice: This was Taylor's first homer and second extra-base hit over 106 plate appearances this season. The veteran utility man has a pitiful .108/.200/.151 slash line with nine RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base over 39 contests. Taylor is usually able to carve out a steady role as a short-side platoon option at a variety of positions, but his poor hitting and the Dodgers' good health with their batters has prevented the 33-year-old from seeing anything close to regular playing time. • Eugenio Suárez homers in blowout win
Eugenio Suárez hit a solo homer in a blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Suárez swatted a solo shot in the fourth inning off Chris Flexen — his former teammate in Seattle — to give D-Backs a 4-1 lead. It’s been a struggle for the 32-year-old third baseman, as even with the roundtripper he’s hitting only .197/.274/.324. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:23 pm
    • Not starting versus LHP
Brooks isn't in the Giants' lineup for Friday's game against the Angels, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Brooks will take a seat Friday as lefty Tyler Anderson toes the slab for the Angels. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base while batting fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:16 pm
    • Becomes free agent
The Red Sox released Cooper on Friday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Cooper cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and is now free to sign on with a new organization. The 33-year-old has slashed just .206/.267/.299 between the Cubs and Red Sox this season, but with a career .265/.333/.427line he should draw some interest in free agency.
