Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Guerrero (finger) wasn't available to pinch-hit Monday versus the Astros after being a late scratch from the lineup, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Advice: Guerrero was initially in Monday's lineup but had to be scratched after he "wasn't comfortable squeezing the bat" pregame, per Schneider. The fourth and fifth fingers on his right hand remain swollen as a result of a hit by pitch in Sunday's game against the Yankees. Guerrero will attempt to swing a bat again Tuesday before it's decided whether he can return to the lineup. Rotowire.comToday, 3:38 pm
An MRI on Corey Seager’s injured left hand came back negative, leaving the shortstop day-to-day.
Advice: Seager left Saturday’s game after being hit by a pitch and didn’t play Sunday. With no damage inside the hand, he’ll be able to play as soon as he feels comfortable gripping and swinging a bat. RotoworldToday, 3:23 pm
Isiah Kiner-Falefa said he underwent an MRI after feeling something in his left knee while stretching prior to Monday’s game.
Advice: This doesn’t sound good. Kiner-Falefa, who is putting together a terrific season as a super-utilityman, was a last-minute scratch before the game today. If he lands on the injured list, it’ll probably mean more regular playing time for Davis Schneider and a longer look for Addison Barger. RotoworldToday, 3:18 pm
After being stuck on five for six weeks, Jeremy Peña finally hit his sixth homer Monday in the win over the Blue Jays.
Advice: Peña seems to have things turned around now after a month-long slump; he’s 9-for-29 with five extra-base hits, eight RBI and a 2/4 K/BB in his last eight games. RotoworldToday, 3:15 pm
Kiner-Falefa is awaiting results of an MRI on his left knee, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Advice: Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from Monday's lineup against the Astros after feeling something in his knee while stretching pregame. Ernie Clement was in the lineup for the Blue Jays on Monday at third base, where Kiner-Falefa has been seeing most of his playing time. It's possible an update on Kiner-Falefa's status will be available later Monday. Rotowire.comToday, 3:11 pm
Bryant (oblique) did some throwing and hit in the batting cage Monday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
Advice: There remains no timetable for Bryant's return to action, but he does appear to be making progress as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. Bryant has already missed nearly a month of action and will require a rehab assignment before being activated. Rotowire.comToday, 3:06 pm
Ortiz (neck) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.
Advice: Ortiz has been absent from the Brewers' lineup for the previous three contests due to neck discomfort, but he's been cleared to return for the start of a road trip. The 25-year-old returns to a .275/.380/.455 batting line. Rotowire.comToday, 2:45 pm
Hunter Goodman is back on the bench Monday after making his first start in four games Sunday.
Advice: It’s like the Rockies stopped viewing Goodman as an option at first base and in right field after Elias Díaz got hurt last month and still haven’t changed that mindset, even though Díaz is back now. Goodman last started at a position other than catcher on June 10. Obviously, Jake Cave is just too good to sit. RotoworldToday, 2:38 pm
