    • Mark Canha snaps six-game hitless streak
Mark Canha singled Thursday to snap a six-game hitless streak.

Advice: To celebrate, they’re planning fireworks for after the game. Canha is 3-for-39 in his last 12 games. His last extra-base hit came June 17, and he hasn’t homered since May 11. It’s also not like he’s any longer particularly useful on defense at age 35, and it’d seem to be worth it for the Tigers to give Parker Meadows or Spencer Torkelson another shot in his place. • Spencer Steer socks three-run HR against Yankees
Spencer Steer hit a three-run homer while helping the Reds to an 8-4 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Steer extended the Reds’ lead to 5-0 with a three-run blast off Marcus Stroman; the third homer Cincinnati hit against the right-hander. Steer has now gone deep 11 times with 54 RBI. The 26-year-old infielder’s .239/.332/.416 slash leaves a bit to be desired, but he’s starting to swing the bat better and should be a solid fantasy option over the second half of the 2024 campaign. • Spencer Horwitz picks up three hits, two RBI
Spencer Horwitz went 3-for-4 with two RBI in a loss Thursday to the Astros.

Advice: Horwitz singled in the first inning to score two runs off Framber Valdez. The infielder would single two more times to improve his slash to .314/.435/.486 over 23 games and 70 at-bats. A relatively small sample, but it’s hard not to be impressed by what Horwitz is doing right now. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:52 pm
    • On bench against lefty
Horwitz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Hortwitz will head to the bench Thursday with lefty Framber Valdez on the mound for Houston. Leo Jimenez will man second base and bat eighth in the series finale. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:03 am
    • Getting regular at-bats of late
Rivera will start at third base and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: It's the fourth consecutive start for Rivera, with the last three of them coming versus right-handers. He has seemingly moved ahead of Nick Gordon in terms of playing time, as the Marlins have been deploying Bryan De La Cruz in left field, Josh Bell at designated hitter and Jake Burger at first base while Rivera occupies the hot corner. • Stays hot in win
O'Hearn went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's win over Seattle while also drawing a walk.

Advice: O'Hearn reached in each of his first three trips to the plate, smacking a two-run double in the third and a solo homer in the fifth, with the latter extending Baltimore's lead to four runs. It was the first baseman's third consecutive game with multiple hits, while he's also reached safely in 15 straight. O'Hearn is now 4-for-7 (.571) with two doubles, a homer and three RBI through just two games to open the month of July after batting .321 with 16 RBI in June. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:19 am

    • Comes up big Wednesday
Tellez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

Advice: The 29-year-old slugger took Giovanny Gallegos deep in the seventh inning, giving the Pirates a 3-1 lead that got erased in the top of the eighth. Tellez has come alive at the plate recently, racking up three homers and three multi-hit performances in his last seven games, and since the beginning of June he's slashing .361/.403/.597 over 77 plate appearances with four home runs and 15 RBI. • Starts at first base
Candelario started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.

Advice: This was Candelario's first start in the field since returning from a hamstring injury over the weekend. He served as Cincinnati's designated hitter the previous two games. As a result of him playing first base, Spencer Steer moved to left field for the day. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:52 am

    • Loving Dodger Stadium
Walker went 4-for-5 with a walk, a double, two home runs, four RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker, who homered in the first game of the series Tuesday, gave Arizona the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning then finished off the Dodgers with a two-run shot in the ninth. The first baseman has five home runs in Dodger Stadium this season and 17 in 41 career games at Chavez Ravine. Walker leads the Diamondbacks with 20 homers and 59 RBI. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:36 am
