• Expected to start Sunday
Medina (knee) is slated to start Sunday's series finale with Atlanta, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Medina has missed the entirety of the 2024 campaign to this point while recovering from a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his right knee that he suffered March 4 at spring training. The 25-year-old made two starts with Triple-A Las Vegas on a rehab assignment, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over six innings. He'll be tasked with facing one of the best lineups in Atlanta on Sunday in his first major-league start of the year. Rotowire.com Today, 11:42 am

  • Moves to 60-day IL
The Phillies transferred Covey (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Covey has been on the IL since the beginning of the season due to a right shoulder strain, so his move to the 60-day IL has no effect on his return date. It does, however, open a spot on Philadelphia's 40-man roster for Freddy Tarnok, who was claimed off waivers from Oakland on Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 11:42 am

  • Back with Friars
The Padres recalled Gillaspie from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.

Advice: With Yu Darvish (groin) and Joe Musgrove (elbow) both headed for the injured list, Gillaspie and Randy Vasquez will come up from the minors to fill the openings in San Diego's pitching staff. Gillaspie has appeared in two games for the Padres this year, throwing 2.2 shutout innings, but he has posted a 5.17 ERA and 1.51 WHIP through 15.2 frames in Triple-A. He will likely be limited to low-leverage situations while with the big-league club. Rotowire.com Today, 11:29 am
  • Padres recall Logan Gillaspie on Saturday
Padres recalled RHP Logan Gillaspie from Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: Gillaspie provides San Diego with some extra bullpen depth with Yu Darvish (groin) and Joe Musgrove (triceps) landing on the shelf ahead of Saturday’s game against the the Royals. The 27-year-old righty has made a pair of scoreless relief appearances this season for the Padres. Rotoworld Today, 11:27 am
  • Phillies transfer Dylan Covey to 60-day IL
Phillies transferred RHP Dylan Covey to the 60-day injured list.

  • Cole Ragans to start on Sunday against Padres
Cole Ragans will start on Sunday against the Padres.

Advice: Ragans will take the ball on regular rest for Sunday’s series finale against San Diego with Brady Singer needing some extra rest as he continues to recover from an illness. Royals manager Matt Quatraro told reporters Saturday that Singer could slot into the rotation for Wednesday’s contest against the Guardians. Rotoworld Today, 10:39 am

  • Activated, called up ahead of start
Poteet (finger) was activated from the minor-league 7-day injured list and called up to start Saturday's contest versus the Giants.

Advice: Poteet is officially set to make his second major-league start of the season Saturday, replacing Clarke Schmidt (lat) on the mound for the Yankees. The right-handed Poteet last pitched with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 19, allowing three runs over four innings before missing his last outing with a blister. Poteet drew his first start with New York on April 13, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out four in a win over the Guardians. It's unclear if the Yankees view Poteet as a long-term replacement for Schmidt, who's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, but a strong outing Saturday would certainly make that a possibility. • Sent back to Triple-A
Morris was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the Yankees' 6-2 win over San Francisco on Friday.

Advice: Morris was called up Thursday, failing to appear in a contest out of the bullpen before being sent back down to Triple-A. The right-hander will now have to wait for his next chance to join the major-league roster. In a corresponding move, Cody Poteet was recalled from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and will start Saturday's contest versus the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 10:19 am
