    • Garrett Mitchell’s rehab assignment nearly over
Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy noted on Friday that the final day for Garrett Mitchell’s (finger) minor league rehab assignment is on Saturday.

Advice: Murphy also told reporters that there haven’t been any discussions about activating the 25-year-old outfielder and optioning him to Triple-A Nashville. That means that the Brewers will have some decisions to make about their roster before the weekend is through. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:27 pm

    • Sitting Friday
Butler is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against Arizona.

Advice: Since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 18, Butler has gone 4-for-25 with one RBI and a 34.6 percent strikeout rate over nine contests. Daz Cameron will start in right field Friday and bat sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Slade Cecconi. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:02 pm
    • Rehab assignment ending soon
Manager Pat Murphy said Friday the rehab assignment for Mitchell (finger) will end Saturday and the team hasn't had discussions about optioning him, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: The Brewers are currently dealing with a logjam in the outfield, with Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio all seeing significant action during Mitchell's absence due to a fractured finger. Considering the injury and Milwaukee's outfield depth, it's possible that Mitchell will remain with Triple-A Nashville after being reinstated. However, Murphy's comments don't seem to support that possibility. Mitchell was removed from Wednesday's rehab outing with an unrelated hamstring injury but was able to suit up and play Thursday. Regardless of what level he ends up playing, Mitchell should be activated from the 60-day IL this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:00 pm

    • Sitting down against lefty
Pederson isn't in Arizona's lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Pederson will step out of the lineup Friday as the A's prepare to send southpaw JP Sears to the mound. Blaze Alexander will fill in as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter and bat second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:50 pm

    • Ramon Laureano (back) held out of lineup Friday
Ramon Laureano was held out of the Braves’ starting lineup on Friday night due to soreness in his back.

Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder hopes to be able to return to action on Saturday. Luke Williams will draw a rare start in left field in his place on Friday night and will bat ninth against Martin Perez and the Pirates. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:50 pm

    • Has back soreness
Laureano isn't in Atlanta's lineup Friday's game against Pittsburgh due to back soreness, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Laureano was absent from the starting lineup for a second straight game, and it's now known why. However, there's optimism Laureano could return Saturday. Adam Duvall is starting in right field Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:29 pm

    • Idle Friday
Gordon is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Philadelphia.

Advice: Gordon will get a breather Friday after making six straight starts, collecting a hit in each contest. Bryan De La Cruz will play left field and lead off against the Phillies. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:28 pm

    • Eddie Rosario returns to Nationals lineup Friday
Eddie Rosario is back in the Nationals’ starting lineup as the DH and No. 5 hitter on Friday.

Advice: Rosario sat against a righty on Wednesday, and with the announcement that fellow left-handed hitter James Wood is coming up Monday, Rosario seems like the obvious choice to get bumped from the Nationals roster. Until that’s official, though, it looks like he’ll get a chance to show he’s worth keeping around. Rosario has a dreadful .181/.226/.330 line this season, but it actually comes with the best hard-hit rate of his career at 45.5%. His average exit velocity of 90.6 mph is 2.5 mph better than his career mark. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:28 pm

    • Idle again Friday
Laureano is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Laureano will be out of the starting nine for a second consecutive contest, giving way to Adam Duvall in right field once again. Laureano had started in each of Atlanta's previous seven games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:19 pm
