    • Serving as opener Wednesday
Holton will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game versus the Phillies, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: With left-handed sluggers Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the top three of the batting order, the Phillies are targets for southpaw openers. Holton will be followed by Keider Montero, who will be called up from Triple-A Toledo and will be deployed as a bulk reliever. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:27 am
    • Clubs leadoff homer in win
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win versus the White Sox.

Advice: The Dodgers' designated hitter crushed Chris Flexen's fifth pitch of the game 376 feet for a leadoff homer. Ohtani has now batted atop the order eight consecutive games while hitting .419 (13-for-31) with five homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. The Japanese superstar may be on his way to a third MVP campaign, as he's slashing .318/.395/.626 with 24 homers, 63 runs scored, 60 RBI and 16 steals over 356 plate appearances this season. • Ohtani homers, pushes RBI streak to nine games
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Chris Flexen’s fifth pitch of the night turned into a 400-foot homer by Ohtani to kick off the first inning. Ohtani’s homer extended his RBI streak to nine games, which ties the Dodgers’ single-season record. Ohtani would drive in another run in the fourth on an RBI single, as he’s now driven in 16 runs over this nine-game span. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:20 pm

    • Roansy Contreras to start Wednesday against A’s
Roansy Contreras will start on Wednesday against the Athletics.

Advice: It’s a favorable matchup for streaming purposes, but Contreras is too risky to roll the dice on, with the notable exception of extremely deep mixed leagues or AL-only formats. The 24-year-old former prospect was acquired last month from the Pirates in a small trade and has fared reasonably well in nine relief appearances for Los Angeles. Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters they’re hoping to get at least four or five innings out of Contreras on Wednesday afternoon. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:10 pm

    • Set to start Wednesday
Contreras will start Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 24-year-old was acquired from the Pirates in May and has worked out of the bullpen for his first nine appearances for the Halos. Contreras has pitched to a 3.29 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 13.2 innings with Anaheim, and manager Ron Washington said the club is hoping the right-hander can cover about four or five innings versus Oakland, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. • David Festa could make MLB debut Thursday
Dan Hayes of The Athletic believes that David Festa could make his MLB debut Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Festa would be taking the rotation spot of Chris Paddack, with Paddack being placed on the injured list with arm fatigue. Festa is one of the top prospects in the system, and the 24-year-old has struck out 87 batters in 59 2/3 innings with a 3.77 ERA for Triple-A St. Paul this year. Festa has battled control issues, but the stuff is here for him to be a successful fantasy option. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:08 pm
    • A.J. Minter (hip) has rehab moved to Triple-A
A.J. Minter (hip) had his rehab assignment moved to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Advice: Minter is working his way back from inflammation in his left hip. The 30-year-old will likely make a few appearances with the Stripers before rejoining the Atlanta bullpen near the start of July, assuming no setbacks. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:13 am

    • Spencer Howard fans eight in relief victory
Spencer Howard earned the win for the Giants on Monday after throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings and striking out eight to finish a 10-inning game against the Cubs.

Advice: It’s simply hilarious that the Giants fired Gabe Kapler for too aggressively using platoons and openers and generally doing non-traditional stuff, and now they have Bob Melvin essentially running the team the exact same way. The Giants used Erik Miller as an opener for the third time in 10 days tonight and then brought in three other relievers before turning to Howard in the fifth and letting him finish the game from there. It goes as Howard’s first win since July 2022. His eight strikeouts topped his previous career high by three, even though he had started 31 big-league games coming into tonight. • Picks up win
Howard (1-1) allowed four hits and a walk while striking out eight over 4.2 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Howard again worked as a reliever, and he didn't enter the game until the fifth inning. He was able to lock things down for the Giants, enabling their comeback. Howard is now at a 3.80 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB over 21.1 innings across six appearances (two starts). San Francisco's rotation is an injury-riddled mess, and that's unlikely to change until July, so Howard will probably continue serving as a bulk reliever. He should be available to make an appearance in this weekend's series versus the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:44 pm
