• Bo Bichette (calf) remains out of Blue Jays lineup
Bo Bichette (calf) remains out of the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Bichette hasn’t played since leaving Wednesday’s game after he tweaked his calf while fielding a pickoff attempt. The good news is that he hasn’t been placed on the injured list, so it sounds like there’s still hope that he could return to the Jays’ lineup before the weekend is through. Leo Jimenez will start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against the Diamondbacks on Friday night. Rotoworld Friday, 4:15 pm

  • Sitting again Friday
Bichette (calf) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Bichette will sit for a second straight game after sustaining a fascia strain in his right calf Wednesday against the Giants. Leo Jimenez will start at shortstop Friday and bat ninth against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:08 pm

  • Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) returns on Friday
Padres activated INF Xander Bogaerts from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 31-year-old infielder has been shelved since May 20 when he suffered a fractured left shoulder. He looked good on a recent minor league rehab assignment though and is ready to jump back into big-league action. He’ll start at second base and hit behind Manny Machado in his return to action on Friday night. Rotoworld Friday, 3:54 pm
  • Back in action Friday
Bogaerts (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will start at second base Friday against Atlanta, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bogaerts has been on the injured list since late May due to a fractured left shoulder, but he'll return to the Padres' lineup following a six-game rehab assignment. The 31-year-old went 6-for-18 with an RBI and four runs scored between Single-A and Triple-A and figures to start in the field most days now that he's healthy. Brett Sullivan was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in order to clear a space on the active roster. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:47 pm
  • Steals first bag of season
Edwards went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Astros.

Advice: Batting sixth with right-hander Jake Bloss on the mound for Houston, Edwards' speed was on full display -- he advanced on two wild pitches in the second inning before coming home with Miami's second run, and he then singled and stole his first bag of 2024 in the sixth. Edwards had 37 steals in 41 attempts between Triple-A and the majors last year, so if he keeps getting on base, his wheels could translate into consistent fantasy value. The 24-year-old infielder has hit safely in 10 of the last 11 games, slashing .333/.395/.410 over that stretch, and he seems likely to remain the Marlins' starting shortstop even when Otto Lopez (back) has returned from the IL. • Three hits, three RBI in win
Crawford went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Crawford hit a ground rule double in his first at-bat to lead off the contest before coming around to score Seattle's first run on a Josh Rojas single. The shortstop then went on to drive in runs in two of his next three trips to the plate, starting with a two-run shot in the fourth as the Mariners shot out to an 11-0 lead. It was Crawford's eighth long ball of the season and his first since June 18 against Cleveland. He's still batting just .194 (7-for-36) in July with three extra-base hits, six RBI and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:34 am
  • J.P. Crawford goes 3-for-3, homers against Angels
J.P. Crawford went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and three RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Crawford probably ought to be batting in the bottom third of a major league lineup, but since the Mariners have a lot of guys fitting that description, he’s remained the everyday leadoff man this season. The excellent game tonight puts him at .212/.308/.357 in 308 plate appearances. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:34 pm
  • Goes yard again
Turner went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base during Thursday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Turner has been red-hot in July, with Thursday's solo homer off Anthony Banda being the shortstop's sixth of the month. Turner also added his 12th pilfer of 2024, swiping second base after being walked in the eighth inning. The 31-year-old is slashing .348/.393/.529 with nine home runs across 244 plate appearances. • Trea Turner hits sixth home run of July in victory
Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Thursday in the Phillies’ win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Turner’s home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Anthony Banda in the first inning. It was his sixth home run in nine games in July. Turner has only played in 54 games this year, but he’s hitting .348 with a .920 OPS and 29 RBI. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:55 pm
