    Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy said after Saturday’s loss to the Cubs that he didn’t expect Garrett Mitchell to join the big league roster on Sunday.

    Advice: It’s curious, as Murphy told reporters after Friday’s game that there was no plan to option Mitchell to Triple-A Nashville once his rehab assignment came to an end on Saturday. Something has to give. It sounds like the 25-year-old outfielder is going to remain at the Triple-A level for the time being instead of adding to an already crowded outfield mix in Milwaukee.     Nick Gordon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the Marlins 3-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

    Advice: Gordon took Aaron Nola deep for a solo homer in the second inning to put the Marlins on the board. He got on base with a single in the ninth for his second hit of the day.   • Jarren Duran swats homer in blowout defeat
    Jarren Duran hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Duran took Michael King deep in what ended up being the only run of the game for the Red Sox in the sixth inning. It also came with Boston trailing 10-0, but still counts just the same. Duran has been nothing short of spectacular in June with a .366/.420/.594 slash, and he’s now up to eight homers and 38 RBI to go along with his 20 stolen bases across the 2024 campaign.     Jackson Merrill went 3-for-5 with a homer, double and two RBI in a blowout win Saturday over the Red Sox.

    Advice: Merrill continues to impress in his rookie campaign, and his slash after the three-hit game is now a healthy .288/.322/.456. The 21-year-old outfielder swatted a solo homer off Tanner Houck — one of three homers for the Padres off Houck on Saturday — and he drove in a run with a single for good measure.   • Ian Happ swats go-ahead two-run homer vs. Cubs
    Ian Happ went 1-for-2 while hitting a go-ahead two-run homer to help the Cubs to a 5-3 win over the Brewers on Saturday.

    Advice: With the score tied at 3-3, Happ blistered a homer to right-center with Seiya Suzuki on board to give the Cubs the two-run lead and ultimately the victory. It’s the second big roundtripper for Happ in three days, as he hit a go-ahead homer in the 10th against San Francisco on Thursday. Over his 78 games, Happ is now hitting .231/.346/.422 with 11 homers, 44 RBI and seven stolen bases. A solid — if unspectacular — first half. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • Andujar singles in loss at Arizona
    Miguel Andujar went 1-for-4 against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: It was a quiet afternoon for the Athletics’ offense. Andujar is hitting .315 on the season, but his lack of power is staggering. He has an .098 ISO on the year. Andujar’s average might not be so high much longer as his BABIP is .349 despite a career .299 BABIP. His 12 percent strikeout percentage is in a good spot, but we’ve been down this road with Andujar before and he’s more of a .250 hitter with middling power. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago
