  • Max Fried keeps Yankees bats at bay
    Max Fried allowed one run on six hits in six innings in a win over the Yankees on Sunday.

    Advice: It wasn’t a dominant outing for the left-hander, but he allowed just one extra-base hit all day and was able to pitch his way out of any trouble that he found himself in. He induced just seven whiffs on 39 swings for an 18 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW, but that’s a pretty solid day against a good Yankees lineup.   • Earns 20th save
    Iglesias struck out two during a perfect ninth to collect the save Sunday against the Yankees.

    Advice: Iglesias needed just 10 pitches to close out the game, retiring Aaron Judge on one pitch, then striking out the final two batters he faced.     Fried improved to 7-3 on the season in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Yankees, striking out four while allowing one run on six hits and no walks over six innings.

    Advice: Fried kept the Yankees off the board until a solo run crossed in the sixth on an Anthony Volpe double. Three of the six hits Fried allowed came during the sixth, but a timely double play ended the inning and kept Fried in line for his seventh win. Fried has now turned in eight quality starts through 15 outing, and in seventh of those starts, he's gone at least six innings while allowing no more than one earned run.     Advice: Fried was great in this and kept the Yankees off-balance by mixing all five of his pitches. He didn’t throw one individual offering more than 30% of the time and was adept at varying his four-seam fastball, sinker, and curveball early in counts. He’s as steady and stable as they come.   • Raisel Iglesias nails down 20th save
    Raisel Iglesias struck out two Yankees en route to a save on Sunday. He didn’t allow a base runner.

    Advice: Iglesias became the fourth closer this season to cross the 20-save plateau and continues to stifle his opponents despite a strikeout rate hovering around 20%. His role seems safe as ever in the Braves’ bullpen. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:07 pm

    Stroman (7-3) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Saturday.

    Advice: Stroman was sharp in his first quality start across four outings in June. He gave up a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the first inning and a two-run blast to Travis d'Arnaud in the seventh. Stroman has walked multiple batters in five straight starts, which has led to some recent inconsistency. He's at a 3.15 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP and 67:40 K:BB through 91.1 innings over 16 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at Toronto.   • Marcus Stroman beats Braves to improve to 7-3
    Marcus Stroman picked up his seventh victory of the season on Saturday night, limiting the Braves to three runs on just three hits over his 6 2/3 innings of work.

    Advice: Stroman piled up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. The 33-year-old hurler had allowed just one run through his first six innings of work, but he returned for the seventh where he served up a two-run blast to Travis d’Arnaud before exiting. Stroman got 12 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Now 7-3 on the season, he’ll tote a 3.15 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 67/40 K/BB ratio (91 1/3 innings) into Friday’s battle against the Blue Jays in Toronto. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:24 pm
     
  • Strong outing wasted Friday
    Kirby came away with a no-decision in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Marlins, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.

    Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander reeled off his third straight quality start and ninth of the season on an efficient 85 pitches (60 strikes), but Kirby was denied his seventh win of the year when the Seattle offense went cold after the second inning.   • George Kirby solid for seven in no-decision
    George Kirby was left with a no-decision after seven innings of two-run ball Friday against the Marlins.

    Advice: Kirby was undone by back-to-back solo homers in the sixth. The first of those, off the bat of Bryan De La Cruz, would have been a homer in three ballparks, according to Statcast.
