• Day off Saturday
Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Mountcastle will get a day to regroup Saturday after going 0-for-10 at the plate over his last three games. Ryan O'Hearn will fill in for Mountcastle at first base, moving Heston Kjerstad into the DH spot while Colton Cowser picks up another start in left field. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Ryan Mountcastle absent from O’s lineup Saturday
Ryan Mountcastle is not in the Orioles’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against the Rangers.

Advice: It appears to be nothing more than a routine night off for the 27-year-old slugger. Ryan O’Hearn will spell Mountcastle at first base, allowing Heston Kjerstad to function as the team’s designated hitter while Colton Cowser covers left field against Michael Lorenzen and the Rangers on Friday evening in Baltimore. • Returns to action
Wong started at catcher and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Wong made his first start since coming off the paternity list Thursday and extended a hit streak to 14 games (18-for-52, .346). Three months into the season and Wong is maintaining a .328 average, nearly 100 points higher than his career average entering 2024 (.232). Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse credits Wong being more direct with his swing path which has led to more zone contact, per Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. The catcher's zone-contact percentage is up from 76.2 last season to 83.2 in 2024. He's also chasing less this season, dropping from 34.5 to 29.3 percent. Rotowire.com Today, 9:00 am
  • Trio of hits in loss
Fry went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Fry is 12-for-40 (.300) over his last 12 contests, adding five doubles and two RBI in that span. That's a bit less all-around production than he was showing earlier in the campaign, but it's still a solid showing. He's now at a .316/.422/.532 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored, four stolen bases and 13 doubles through 60 games. Fry has mostly seen time at designated hitter and catcher recently, but he could also be an option in right field while Will Brennan (ribs) is on the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 pm

  • Swipes 14th bag
Lindor went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 7-2 win over the Astros.

Advice: The veteran shortstop has flipped the switch in the second half of June. Lindor has racked up three straight multi-hit performances, and over the last 11 contests he's batting a scorching .370 (17-for-46) with two of his 13 homers and four of his 14 steals on the season along with seven doubles, eight RBI and 12 runs. • No-decision against former club
Stroman came away with a no-decision in Friday's 16-5 rout of the Blue Jays, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The veteran right-hander made his big-league with the Jays in 2014 and had trouble keeping his composure in his return to Toronto, getting the hook after 88 pitches (52 strikes) and not sticking around long enough to benefit from a season-best offensive explosion by the Yankees. Stroman completed six innings only once in five June starts, but on the year he still sports a 3.29 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 70:43 K:BB through 95.2 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Reds. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
  • Marcus Stroman yanked in fifth inning
Marcus Stroman allowed three earned runs across 4 1/3 innings on Friday against the Blue Jays. He struck out three, walked three in a no-decision.

Advice: Stroman labored through two very long innings against the Blue Jays. He could not put them away despite not allowing much hard contact and many long-at bats drove his pitch count up. Stroman’s strikeouts have sunk this year while he’s allowing more walks showing diminished velocity overall. His 3.29 ERA may be a bit of a mirage. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:37 pm
  • Absent from Baltimore lineup
Westburg is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: Westburg had started each of the previous eight contests, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Orioles face right-hander Max Scherzer. Baltimore will go with Jorge Mateo at second base and Ramon Urias at third. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:24 pm

  • India stays red hot with two-hit game Thursday
Jonathan India went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and an RBI against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: India started the game with a single and scored on Elly De La Cruz’s RBI triple. In the second inning, he had an RBI double to give the Reds a 2-0 lead. India is now on a nine-game hitting streak and he’s 17-for-33 (.515) in that stretch. In June, he’s 30-for-80 (.375) with 18 runs scored and 14 RBI in 24 games. India’s average is up to .272 on the season with a .771 OPS and 32 RBI.
