    Garcia (elbow) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Advice: The reliever will throw another bullpen session Wednesday before the next steps in his rehab program are determined. Garcia has missed just two weeks with a nerve issue in his right elbow, so it's possible he could skip a rehab assignment and return from the 15-day injured list whenever the Blue Jays feel that he's ready. With Jordan Romano (elbow) out indefinitely, Garcia should be back in the mix for saves once he returns, perhaps even as the club's top option.     McFarland (1-1) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, allowing three earned runs on a hit, a hit batsman and a walk over one-third of an inning.

    Advice: McFarland's outing was about as messy as his final line implies, with the left-hander immediately working himself into trouble upon entering in the seventh inning with the game knotted at 1-1. McFarland hit Randal Grichuk to open the frame and subsequently yielded a double to Corbin Carroll and intentionally walked Ketel Marte before exiting. Austin Adams would allow all three inherited runners to score, saddling McFarland with the first runs on his ledger since June 6. Despite the stumble, McFarland was impressive throughout most of June, putting together nine consecutive scoreless appearances (6.1 innings) with three holds prior to Sunday.     Festa (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Astros, coughing up five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk in the 11th inning. He struck out one.

    Advice: The former Mariner was called up earlier in the day to give the Mets' beleaguered bullpen a fresh arm, and Festa was immediately pressed into service when the game went into extras. After intentionally walking Yordan Alvarez, he gave up three straight singles before Trey Cabbage ripped a two-out, two-run double to seal the win for Houston.     Chirinos came away with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Phillies, giving up three runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.1 innings while striking out four.

    Advice: The damage against the right-hander could have been worse considering all the traffic he put on the basepaths, but it was still a shaky effort from Chirinos. He's made three starts for the Marlins and has at least pitched into the fifth inning in each outing, helping to take a little pressure off the team's overtaxed bullpen. Chirinos sports a 3.77 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB through 14.1 innings for Miami, and he lines up to make his next trip to the mound at home this weekend against the White Sox.   • Rosenthal: Tanner Scott “is a popular name”
    The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

    Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters.   • DL Hall will make one more rehab start
    Brewers manager Pat Murphy confirmed that DL Hall (knee) will make “at least one more” rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

    Advice: Hall threw 60 pitches in three innings on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four and walking one. While he gave up some hard contact, his four-seam fastball averaged 94.7 mph, which is up over two mph from his early starts with the Brewers. The team has worked to get his velocity back up while he was rehabbing his knee, and the work may have paid off.   • Still shut down from throwing
    Wood (shoulder) hasn't resumed a throwing program since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection during the second week of June, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Wood will be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list next week, but since he's not yet even playing catch again since being shut down in mid-May with left rotator cuff tendinitis, he could be more than a month away from rejoining the Oakland rotation.     Stripling (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Stripling will move on to the next phase of his rehab program after he completed a two-inning simulated bullpen session Saturday without incident. The 34-year-old has been on the shelf since May 25 with a right elbow flexor strain and will likely need at least one or two rehab starts before he's cleared to return from the 15-day injured list, most likely after the All-Star break.
