  • Eduardo Nunez available off bench on Friday
Eduardo Nunez has arrived in San Francisco and will be available off of the bench for Friday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: He'll make his first start with his new club on Saturday. The All-Star shortstop was hitting .296 with 12 homers, 47 RBI and 26 stolen bases with the Twins prior to Thursday's trade. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:01 pm
  • O'Malley plates lone run in loss to Cubs
Shawn O'Malley went 2-for-5 and plated the Mariners lone run in Friday afternoon's loss to the Cubs.

Advice: O'Malley drew the start at shortstop and hit out of the leadoff spot for the M's against left-hander John Lester. His RBI single in the ninth inning to plate Leonys Martin put a band aid on a stab wound, cutting their deficit to 11-1. O'Malley also swiped his fourth base of the year in the contest. Jhonny Peralta (thumb) is on track to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, the first day he's eligible.

  • Mariners have inquired on Cozart, Bruce
ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Mariners have inquired on Zack Cozart.

Advice: Ketel Marte (mono) is due back in about a week and is unlikely to be going anywhere, so Cozart seems like an odd fit. Stark says that the Mariners have looked into acquiring Jay Bruce, as well. Cozart is arbitration-eligible for a final time this winter. Rotoworld.com Today, 12:53 pm

  • Ehire Adrianza (foot) to return on Tuesday
The Giants are expected to activate Ehire Adrianza (foot) Tuesday against the Phillies.

Advice: Adrianza has absolutely slaughtered the ball during his rehab assignment, batting .346 with six homers and 14 RBI across 13 games for High-A San Jose and Triple-A Sacramento. He's been out since breaking his foot in mid-April. Adrianza's role is somewhat unclear now that the Giants have acquired utility infielder Eduardo Nunez from Minnesota. • Jorge Polanco called up to replace Nunez
Twins recalled INF Jorge Polanco from Triple-A Rochester.

Advice: He's taking the spot of Eduardo Nunez, who was just traded to the Giants for left-handed pitching prospect Adalberto Mejia. Polanco has put up decent numbers at Triple-A, hitting .276 with nine homers, six triples, 39 RBI and five steals in 75 games for Rochester. He spent a little time with the Twins earlier this year, batting .231 with one homer and four RBI over 13 games for the big club. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm
  • Giants acquire Eduardo Nunez from Minnesota
Giants acquired SS Eduardo Nunez from the Twins in exchange for LHP Adalberto Mejia.

Advice: Nunez had drawn interest from a number of teams before this trade including the Indians. Nunez mostly played shortstop for Minnesota but he's also spent a fair amount at third base and even started a few games at second earlier this year. He'll likely begin his Giants tenure at the hot corner while Matt Duffy continues to recover from an Achilles injury. Nunez has had a career season, hitting .296 with 12 HR, 47 RBI and 26 steals. The 29-year-old should eventually settle into a super utility role for the Giants. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:36 pm
  • Diaz homers, drives in three in win over Fish
Aledmys Diaz went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run as the Cardinals edged the Marlins 5-4 on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz took Jose Fernandez deep for the two-run dinger in the third inning, and he added an RBI double in the fifth. The 25-year-old now has 14 home runs, 56 RBI and 64 runs scored in his rookie year. He continues to prove the naysayers wrong, batting .313/.378/.523 through 94 games. • Amed Rosario out with lower body soreness
Mets SS prospect Amed Rosario has been placed on the disabled list at Double-A Binghamton with lower body soreness.

Advice: It's unclear how much time he'll miss. The Mets' top prospect has been lighting it up at Double-A, batting .354 with 16 RBI since his promotion last month. If all goes well, the 20-year-old could make his debut in 2017. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 2:10 pm

  • Trevor Story gets two hits, scores tying run
Trevor Story went 2-for-4 and scored the game-tying run in Thursday's comeback win over the Mets.

Advice: Story led off the ninth inning with a single and stole second base. He then came around to score on a fielder's choice as the Rockies completed a come-from-behind victory. The rookie shortstop is 3-for-16 at the plate so far this week following last week's National League Player of the Week award. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:33 pm
  • Robertson chips in with four hits Wednesday
Rays SS prospect Daniel Robertson clubbed four hits Wednesday in a win for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: He provided a double, three singles and one RBI while guiding the Bulls to a 5-2 win over Toledo. The 22-year-old has looked overmatched at times this season, though he's had a good stretch this month with 12 hits over his last nine outings. Mets manager Terry Collins said he's not considering a disabled list stint at this point because the club has a string of games in American League parks next week. Addison Russell cranked a grand slam against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: It was his only hit of the night but it was a big one. It was his 12th home run of the season in 379 plate appearances. He has a .248 batting average, 40 runs and 60 RBI in the Cubs strong lineup. Those are essentially league-average numbers, which is very good considering he is only 22 years old and still developing. • Profar snares three hits and scores a run
Jurickson Profar went 3-for-5 and scored a run in the Rangers' loss on Wednesday.

Advice: One of the hits was a double. The former top overall prospect in baseball is finally healthy enough to help his fantasy owners. He is hitting .296/.349/.414 in 162 at-bats. Having played multiple games at every position except pitcher and catcher this year, his positional eligibility provides a huge boost to his fantasy value. Aledmys Diaz went 2-for-5 with a run scored as the Cardinals came back to win on Wednesday night.

Advice: Diaz has been one of the biggest surprises in all of baseball this season. He is batting .312 with an .890 OPS as a rookie. He has 13 homers, 61 runs and 53 RBI. People have been expecting the 25-year-old shortstop's production to tail off but he has shown no signs of being a fluke. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:11 pm
  • Machado launches 21st home run on Wednesday
Manny Machado cracked a solo home run for his only hit and the Orioles' only run of the night on Wednesday.

Advice: Machado is having a fantastic season. Now slashing .311/.369/.552 with 21 longballs, 68 runs and 57 RBI. The only thing he doesn't do is run -- he hasn't stolen a base all year after swiping 20 last year. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:35 pm

  • Mercer gets three hits and three runs
Jordy Mercer went 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored three times on Wednesday.

Advice: Mercer has been good enough to be rostered in fantasy leagues this year. He is batting .282/.361/.393 with six home runs, 40 runs and 35 RBI. That's not good enough to start for a championship-caliber fantasy team but he can be useful as a backup. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:11 pm
  • Reyes (intercostal) out until at least Friday
Jose Reyes (intercostal strain) will not play until Friday at the earliest.

Advice: Reyes suffered a Grade 1 intercostal strain during Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals. He was administered an anti-inflammatory shot on Tuesday night. In terms of silver linings, Reyes at least avoided re-breaking the rib he fractured during the opening week of the 2015 season. Giants SS prospect Christian Arroyo supplied three hits and a stolen base Tuesday in a win for Double-A Richmond.

Advice: He scored four of the Flying Squirrels' 10 runs while adding a double and two singles. Arroyo has crushed the ball over his last 10 games, hitting .366 with seven RBI during that span. Arroyo hasn't hit for much power (only two homers in 91 games), but he leads the Eastern League with 30 doubles and owns a team-best .285 batting average over 361 at-bats this season. Advice: He also recorded his 10th stolen base. His three hits matched a season-high while Jones' two-run homer in the seventh was his first round-tripper in over a month. Brandon Crawford went 3-for-5 with a two-run triple and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Reds.

Advice: Crawford raced around the bases for a two-run triple in the seventh inning. The three-bagger was his fifth of the season. He also hit a pair of singles in the contest. Advice: Semien connected for a solo dinger off Rangers starter Nick Martinez in the fifth inning, his 21st big fly of the year. That's easily a personal best for the 25-year-old, who will also set a new high for RBI in a season this year. Overall, Semien is hitting .236/.303/.460 with 49 RBI, 49 runs scored and nine steals. Eduardo Nunez went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Nunez' overall numbers have declined since his All-Star first half, but the 29-year-old is still contributing with his legs. Nunez now has 26 steals on the year, most in the American League. He's hitting .298/.326/.445 in 89 games. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 7:52 pm
  • Indians expressing interest in Eduardo Nunez
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Indians have expressed interest in Eduardo Nunez of the Twins.

Advice: Nunez has been in a steady state of regression for a couple of months, but he's still enjoying the best year of his career by far, batting .298/.324/.446 with 12 home runs, 46 RBI, and 24 stolen bases in 88 games. Trevor Story slugged his 27th homer of the year Sunday in the Rockies' 7-2 victory over the Braves.

Advice: It was a two-run shot in the fourth inning off Atlanta rookie Tyrell Jenkins. Story also doubled and scored in the first inning, finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Only two middle infielders in major league history have registered 30-homer seasons by age 23: Alex Rodriguez and Nomar Garciaparra. Story is well on his way to becoming the third. • Reyes notches RBI triple in win over Marlins
Jose Reyes went 1-for-5 with an RBI triple in Sunday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: Reyes showed that despite his age (33), he still brings a strong speed element to play whenever he steps to the dish. In Sunday's case, he collected an RBI triple against Marlins starter Jose Urena in the third inning. Since the Mets called him up on July 5, the embattled third baseman is slashing .242/.284/.516 with three homers, eight RBI and three steals over the course of 62 at-bats. The rookie now has 26 longballs on the season, which is a lot more than he ever hit in a minor league season. He is batting .272/.347/.580 with 63 runs, 67 RBI and seven steals. He did just that, lining a Carlos Villanueva pitch over the shortstop's head to bring home the winning run. Diaz finished 2-for-5 with two RBI in the game. The 25-year-old is hitting .319/.387/.533 with 13 homers, 51 RBI and 61 runs scored in a breakout rookie season. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 8:53 pm
  • Villar hits seventh homer in loss to Pirates
Jonathan Villar hit his seventh home run of the season in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Villar took Pirates starter Francisco Liriano deep for the solo shot in the third inning. He finished 1-for-4 in the game. The power is an added bonus -- Thursday's homer tied his single-season high -- but Villar's speed has been his selling point this year, as he still leads the National League with 34 swipes. The 25-year-old is hitting .301/.384/.430 in his breakout year. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 7:44 pm

  • Machado (flu) returns to Orioles' lineup
Manny Machado is in the Orioles' lineup Thursday.

Advice: Machado sat out Wednesday's game while battling through the same flu bug that has affected Chris Davis and manager Buck Showalter. Manny is starting at third base and batting third Thursday versus the Yankees. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 8:18 am

  • Machado (illness) not in lineup versus Yanks
Manny Machado (illness) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: The Orioles' clubhouse has been racked by a wildfire-esque stomach bug which has sidelined Machado, Chris Davis and Matt Wieters. Ryan Flaherty will bat eighth and handle the hot corner in Machado's absence. It is possible that Davis or Machado could be used in a pinch should the O's run into the need. • Ketel Marte (ankle, flu) out again Wednesday
Ketel Marte (flu, ankle) is out of the Mariners' starting lineup again on Wednesday.

Advice: Marte has appeared in just one game since last Friday because of an ankle injury and a nasty stomach bug. Shawn O'Malley is getting another start at shortstop. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 10:08 am

  • Ketel Marte (ankle, flu) out again Tuesday
Ketel Marte (flu) is out again Tuesday.

Advice: Marte returned to the Mariners' lineup Sunday after missing a game with an ankle injury, but he came down with a stomach virus on Monday. Consider him day-to-day still. Shawn O'Malley is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Tuesday versus White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 3:06 pm

  • Cardinals place Peralta (thumb) back on DL
Cardinals placed 3B Jhonny Peralta on the 15-day disabled list with a left thumb injury.

Advice: Peralta continues to experience nagging pain in his surgically-repaired left thumb. Hopefully a good two weeks of rest will finally solve the issue. He had batted just .221/.258/.416 in 30 games since his initial June 7 activation. Greg Garcia figures to see semi-regular action at third base in Peralta's absence. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 1:26 pm

  • Rangers getting 'tons of calls' on Profar
T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers are getting "tons of calls" on Jurickson Profar.

Advice: The Rangers' biggest need is starting pitching, so the question is whether they'll find anything that motivates them to trade Profar. Sullivan notes that the Rangers have interest in Matt Moore, Jake Odorizzi and Drew Smyly from the Rays, but that might not be enough to part with Profar. Sullivan also mentions the Brewers' Jonathan Lucroy as a potential target. Profar essentially missed two years due to shoulder issues, but he's still just 23 years old and has impressed with a .318/.366/.455 batting line in 142 plate appearances with the Rangers this season. Advice: Steve Pearce is back from the disabled list and will take his place on the active roster. Franklin is batting .313 (15-for-48) with one home run, four doubles, and 13 RBI over 19 games with the Rays this season. He should get another chance soon. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 5:30 am

  • Trevor Story hits 22nd homer in victory
Trevor Story went 2-for-3 with his 22nd homer and his sixth steal Monday to lead the Rockies to a 7-4 win over the Rays.

Advice: The homer was a two-run shot off Drew Smyly. He also walked in the contest. Despite his propensity for striking out, he's been very steady at the plate these last couple of months. His OPS stands at .886 and still hasn't fallen below .850 at any point this season. Rotoworld.com Monday, 9:56 pm
