    • Reds activate top prospect Noelvi Marte for ’24 debut
Reds activated INF Noelvi Marte from the restricted list.

Advice: Marte returns to Cincinnati’s lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals after serving an 80-game suspension following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance. The 22-year-old infielder will get the majority of his starts at third base for the Reds moving forward after emerging as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape last year before batting .316/.366/.456 with three homers and six steals over 35 contests in the majors. He struggled in a quick 12-game ramp up earlier this month with Triple-A Louisville, batting .151 (8-for-53) with just one extra-base hit, but some rust is to be expected on the heels of such a lengthy absence. It might take him a few weeks to get going, but he’s absolutely worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues based solely on his immense talent. Rotoworld 2 minutes ago
    • Back in majors
The Guardians recalled McCaughan from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: McCaughan was dispatched back to Triple-A on Monday after appearing in one game for the Guardians. He'll now return to the majors to replace Xzavion Curry, who was optioned to Columbus in a corresponding move. McCaughan has allowed 10 earned runs in 6.2 MLB innings between Cleveland and Miami, and he'll almost certainly be limited to low-leverage opportunities during his stint in the bigs. • Reds option Livan Soto back to Triple-A
Reds optioned INF Livan Soto to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Soto heads back to the minors after a handful of contests with the Reds as a stopgap until top prospect Noelvi Marte was activated from the restricted list to make his season debut. Rotoworld 5 minutes ago

    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Curry to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: Curry took the loss out of the bullpen for the Guardians on Wednesday versus the Orioles and finds himself back in the minors a day later. He'll be replaced by a fresh bullpen arm in Darren McCaughan. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
    • Reds transfer Emilio Pagán to 60-day IL
Reds transferred RHP Emilio Pagán to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Pagán has been on the shelf since earlier this mont recovering from a right lat strain. The procedural move will keep him out until at least early August. Rotoworld 6 minutes ago
    • To IL with strained oblique
The Guardians placed Brennan on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained oblique.

Advice: Brennan last played on Monday and evidently must have tweaked his oblique during that game in Baltimore. He will be eligible to return late next week, but with the severity of the strain not known, it's uncertain as to when he might be able to return. Daniel Schneemann, Gabriel Arias and Jhonkensy Noel could all pick up more at-bats while Brennan is out. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

    • Up from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Tena from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

Advice: Tena has spent all season in Triple-A, slashing .290/.337/.477 with 14 homers and 56 RBI across 326 plate appearances. He'll now come up from the minors to give Cleveland some additional infield depth, though he likely won't see many opportunities while in the big leagues. Will Brennan (oblique) was placed on the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Throws bullpen session
Sanchez (shoulder) threw an 18-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He could throw off the mound again this weekend. While it appears he's inching in the right direction, Sanchez won't be eligible for activation until early August after being transferred to the 60-day injured list earlier this week. He's coming back from right shoulder inflammation. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

    • Ruled out through All-Star break
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Thursday that Walker (finger) will not return before the All-Star break, Paul Casella of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The team doesn't have a timetable to offer yet on Walker, who is dealing with right index finger inflammation, but it is not expecting him back before the end of the first half. With Spencer Turnbull (lat) joining Walker on the 15-day injured list, the Phillies' rotation depth is being tested. Filling the fifth spot for now will be Michael Mercado. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
