    • Pinch-hitter Chad Tracy homered off Huston Street in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Nationals to a 6-5 win over the Padres on Friday.
Advice: Incredibly, it was the first RBI for a Nationals pinch-hitter in 42 games this season. It was also the sixth homer surrendered by Street in 17 1/3 innings, tripling his total from his 39 innings pitched last year.

    • Travis Hafner (shoulder) clubbed a two-run homer in his return to action Saturday.
Advice: It sounds like his shoulder is fine. Hafner now has seven homers in 100 at-bats this season, including five in just 54 at-bats at Yankee Stadium. The 35-year-old is not a good bet to hold up, but he should continue to be a useful option in daily fantasy leagues.

    • Travis Hafner (shoulder) says he's available to pinch-hit Friday.
Advice: Hafner hasn't played since Monday due to shoulder tendinitis, but he was encouraged after a batting practice session Thursday. He likely would have started against a right-hander, but southpaw Mark Buehrle is on the hill for the Blue Jays. Perhaps he'll be back in there Saturday against Brandon Morrow.

Advice: Hafner has been experiencing shoulder soreness recently, so he's going to rest for a few days and try to get some answers. • Marco Scutaro went 3-for-5 with an RBI single and a run scored Friday against the Rockies.
Advice: Ho-hum, just another multi-hit night for the hottest hitter in the game. Scutaro now has a 16-game hitting streak and has raised his batting average from .215 to .327 in the process. The 37-year-old is not going to provide much in the way of pop or speed, but keep running him out there in all formats until he cools down.

    • Jarrod Parker pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday.
Advice: The A's didn't go ahead until the bottom of the eighth, so Parker was denied the win after his best performance so far this season. He struck out five and walked two tonight. After opening up 0-4 with an 8.10 ERA, he's 2-1 with a 4.07 ERA his last four times out.

Advice: Saunders tied a season-high by giving up 11 hits, including a solo homer by Mark Reynolds. He now has an 11.25 ERA in five starts on the road this season compared to a 0.94 ERA in four starts at home. That pretty much says it all.

Advice: The A's had been going with Eric Sogard against righties and Rosales against lefties, but Rosales drew the assignment against Shields tonight and came through with the big blast. As poorly as Sogard has hit, the A's will probably go with Rosales regularly for now.

    • Chris Perez blew his second save of the season Saturday against the Mariners.
Advice: Perez entered the top of the ninth with a 4-2 lead, but he coughed it up after giving up back-to-back solo homers to Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak with two outs. The Indians eventually won the game on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth, so Perez actually ended up with the victory. See, it wasn't all bad for Perez owners. The 27-year-old right-hander recently dealt with some shoulder soreness and has shown diminished velocity on his fastball this season, but he owns a 1.80 ERA and 16/5 K/BB ratio over 15 innings. Vinnie Pestano just returned from an elbow injury, so there's no immediate threat to his job.

    • Cardinals recalled RHP Mitchell Boggs from Triple-A Memphis.
Advice: Boggs struggled mightily after being named the Cardinals' closer at the start of the 2013 season and was optioned to Memphis on May 3 with a 12.66 ERA. He wasn't exactly flawless during his time on the farm and will probably be limited to low-leverage situations for a while. Edward Mujica's job is obviously safe.

    • Mitchell Boggs has tossed five scoreless innings since his demotion to Triple-A Memphis.
Advice: Boggs has permitted three hits, walked two and struck out four. Three of his five innings have required at least 20 pitches, but the Cardinals have been pleased with his progress beyond some efficiency issues. "It sounds like he has made a couple of good mechanical adjustments," manager Mike Matheny said. "The reports from the people who have been seeing him is that it looks like he is in a real good spot. He's an established major league player, so it's not an easy assignment. It seems like he is happy with how he's progressed. It's still yet to be seen how this all plays out, but he's going about this the right way."

Advice: Hey, fantasy owners will take it. Garcia allowed six hits and a walk while all the damage was courtesy of a pair of two-run homers by Aramis Ramirez. The southpaw has allowed 11 runs over his last two starts, increasing his ERA from 2.25 to 3.58 on the year. Still, he'll carry a 5-2 record into a start against the Padres next week in San Diego.

Advice: The Phillies' current plan calls for Zambrano to pitch in another extended spring game next week before possibly sending him to a minor league affiliate. Advice: Zambrano recently agreed to a deal with the independent Long Island Ducks, but never reported to the club because he was confident he would be able to find a minor league deal somewhere. And he has. The 31-year-old had a mediocre 4.49 ERA and 95/75 K/BB ratio over 132 1/3 innings last season with the Marlins and will function as starting pitching depth for Philadelphia. • Despite taking a comebacker off his pitching hand, Drew Storen pitched a scoreless 10th inning Friday against the Padres for his first save.
Advice: Aided by a Ryan Zimmerman throwing error, Rafael Soriano took a blown save in the ninth. Storen got his chance in the 10th after a Chad Tracy homer and got the job done, though not before allowing a couple of singles. The first of those was a hard shot up the middle that deflected off his pitching hand. Storen, though, remained in after a couple of warmups. His ERA sits at 4.41 currently, and he's no threat to Soriano's job as is.

After posting a 1.50 ERA over his first three starts in the majors, the southpaw has allowed nine runs in 15 innings over his last three starts and has served up five homers in the process. Advice: The soreness is said to be minor, but with Monday's off day, the Reds want to play it safe. It's possible they could skip over his turn entirely, depending on how he recovers. This certainly won't help Cingrani's case to remain in the rotation after Johnny Cueto returns.
