    • Brian Dozier went 0-for-4 as the Twins' leadoff man on Monday, dropping his average to .205.
Advice: Dozier started off well after replacing Aaron Hicks in the leadoff spot, but now he's hitting .154 with two walks in 52 at-bats this month. The Twins should consider sending him down, but none of their minor league options are better bets.

    • Yan Gomes slugged two home runs -- including a 10th-inning walkoff -- in Monday's 10-8 defeat of the Mariners.
Advice: Gomes hit a solo shot in the bottom of the second inning and then played the hero by cranking a three-run blast in the bottom of the 10th with the Indians trailing by two. Gomes finished with four RBI and now has nine RBI in 17 games this season to go along with a cool .951 OPS. He should start seeing a bit more regular playing time.

    • Colby Lewis (elbow) acknowledged on Monday afternoon that he's unhappy with his fastball velocity.
Advice: Lewis was sitting around 85-86 mph in his rehab start Monday at Double-A Frisco and wants to be closer to 89-91 mph by the time he returns to the major leagues. The hope had been that he would be ready to rock during the first week of June, but a more realistic timetable calls for him to be activated near the middle of the month. Lewis is on his way back from major right elbow surgery.

    • Colby Lewis (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Rangers' rotation in the first week of June.
Advice: After dealing with a minor bout of triceps tendinitis, Lewis will resume his rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Monday. He'll need two additional outings after that before being activated. The right-hander is a nice roster stash in fantasy leagues if you have room.

    • Colby Lewis (elbow, triceps) is scheduled to throw a bullpen Friday and resume his minor league rehab assignment Monday with Double-A Frisco.
Advice: Lewis return from elbow surgery hit a snag over the weekend due to discomfort in his triceps muscle, but it was never a major concern. Barring any setbacks, he could join the Rangers' rotation in the early part of June.

    • Jeff Francis (groin) will throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Advice: It will be the first time he's thrown from the bump since landing on the disabled list. Francis' groin isn't fully healed, but he shouldn't be out too much longer as long as he continues to progress. Whether he'll have a rotation spot once healthy remains to be seen.

    • Rockies placed LHP Jeff Francis on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 15, with a left groin strain.
Advice: It was reported previously that Francis tweaked his knee during Tuesday's start, but apparently his groin is the issue. Rob Scahill has taken his spot on the roster, but the Rockies have not announced who will take his spot in the rotation. Tyler Chatwood and Drew Pomeranz are the main options.

    • Ross Detwiler reported improvement with his back Monday and hopes be ready to make his next start.
Advice: Detwiler is hoping he'll be ready to play catch on Monday before throwing from a mound later in the week. With an off day on Thursday, the Nationals can delay Detwiler's next turn a few days. Zach Duke is making a spot start in his place on Monday.

    • Nationals manager Davey Johnson said he's "probably not that confident" that Ross Detwiler (back) will be able to make his next start.
Advice: It's not clear whether a disabled list stint will be required, but it sounds like Detwiler won't be used at least one time through the rotation. The lefty underwent an MRI Thursday, though the specific results of it are not known. The Nats are expected to turn to their bullpen for a spot start, with Craig Stammen viewed as the likely favorite over Zach Duke to get the nod.

    • Ross Detwiler left Wednesday's start after three innings with an apparent injury.
Advice: Detwiler looked like he might have tweaked his back while heading over to cover first in the third inning. He stayed in to finish the frame but was then removed in the bottom of the fourth. The Nats will update the lefty's status soon. He allowed two runs on six hits and two walks before exiting.

    • Brett Myers (elbow) will make his second minor league rehab start on Wednesday at Double-A Akron.
Advice: Myers threw 33 pitches last week in his first rehab start and will probably try to top 50 pitches on Wednesday. He'll make at least one more start in the minors after that before being considered for activation. The right-hander is attempting to pitch through a UCL tear.

    • Brett Myers (elbow) fared well in his first minor league rehab start with Double-A Akron on Friday, allowing just one hit and a walk over three scoreless innings of work.
Advice: Myers threw 33 pitches in the game, 18 for strikes. He's dealing with a mild UCL tear in his elbow, but has chosen to try to pitch through the injury rather than undergoing surgery. It's a good first step, but he'll need several rehab outings before rejoining the Indians' rotation.
