• Blows save, grabs win Friday
Doval (3-1) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over over inning, blowing a save but earning the win Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Doval allowed a triple to Andy Pages, who came home on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3-3 in the ninth inning. The Giants then got a walk-off home run from Brett Wisely to make Doval the pitcher of record despite his poor outing. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in June, though a pair of four-run meltdowns account for much of that damage. He hasn't been dominant this season with a 4.55 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 39:21 K:BB while converting 14 of 17 save chances over 31.2 innings. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Hit hard by Mets
Blanco (8-3) took the loss Friday as the Astros were downed 7-2 by the Mets, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: It was a tough night for the right-hander, who served up multiple long balls for the first time since May 3 and got tagged for three for the first time in his career. Despite his struggles keeping the ball in the park, Blanco nearly escaped with his fourth straight quality start thanks to an Alex Bregman error, but he fell one out short and got the hook after 98 pitches (65 strikes). Blanco will take a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 84:37 K:BB through 90.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

  • Strikes out seven
Knack allowed a run on five hits and struck out seven without walking a batter over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Knack was pulled at 76 pitches (49 strikes) after giving up a solo home run to Luis Matos and singles to Brett Wisely and Jorge Soler in the fifth inning. While Knack wouldn't have qualified for the win, it was still a positive showing despite it being tied for his shortest start of the season in the majors. The right-hander has maintained a 2.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB through 30.1 innings over six starts. It looks like he's good for at least a short-term stay in the rotation, which lines him up for a home start versus the Diamondbacks next week. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Zack Gelof picks up three hits, steal in victory
Zack Gelof stole a base and went 3-for-4 in a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

  • Lourdes Gurriel hits homer in loss to A’s
Lourdes Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in a loss to the A’s on Friday.

Advice: Gurriel drove in a run in the first with an RBI single, and he clobbered a solo homer to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth; both of those hits coming off JP Sears. The veteran outfielder has been inconsistent — something that has followed him for most of his career — but the two-hit night has his average up to .267 and his OPS up to .723 with 11 homers and 47 RBI through 303 at-bats. You can do better, but there’s definitely worse bench options as well. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
  • Shea Langeliers homers, steals bag in victory
Shea Langeliers homered and stole a base in the Athletics’ 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Langeliers isn’t exactly known for his speed, but he was able to procure his third steal of the season. The power is a little more readily apparent, and he hit one of three homers in the ninth inning for the A’s to give him 15 on the year and Oakland an 8-4 lead. Langeliers will never be a big helper in the average category, but there just might be enough run-production to make him a starting fantasy catcher someday. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
  • Slade Cecconi gives up three over four vs. A’s
Slade Cecconi gave up three runs in four innings with seven strikeouts against the A’s on Friday while picking up no decision.

Advice: Cecconi was able to strike out seven, but it’s another mediocre outing in a year where the 25-year-old has had plenty of them. The 25-year-old allowed two runs in the third and another in the fourth before being pulled, and Cecconi’s ERA is now at 5.81 for the season. He absolutely should not be considered as a streaming option for Thursday’s scheduled bout against the Dodgers. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

  • JP Sears bounced back with QS against D-Backs
JP Sears allowed three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Sears was atrocious against the Twins on Saturday while allowing nine hits and eight runs in 1 1/3 innings. He wasn’t perfect Friday, but calling this an improvement is quite the understatement. The southpaw struck out six, and he held the D-Backs to just two runs through five before a Lourdes Gurriel Jack to tie the game in the sixth and keep Sears from picking up the win. The outing lowers his ERA to an even 5.00, and he’ll look to build on this start when he faces the Angels on Thursday. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago

  • Matt Chapman homers, steals base in victory
Matt Chapman stole a base and hit a two-run homer in a win for the Giants on Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman hit a two-run homer off Daniel Hudson for his 10th homer of the season, and he stole his seventh bag of the year for good measure. The 31-year-old has been a mild disappointment thus far in 2024 — depending on expectations, of course — with a .235/.316/.399 slash, but the homers and steals have help balance things out a bit.
