    • Cubs activate, demote Keegan Thompson
Cubs activated RHP Keegan Thompson from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Keegan had been out with a viral illness since May 15. He has a 4.97 ERA in 12 2/3 innings out of the pen for the Cubs this season. Rotoworld Today, 1:32 pm
    • Loses roster spot
The Cubs optioned Hodge to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Ryan Herrera of CHGO Sports reports.

Advice: Hodge flashed both his wipeout stuff (seven strikeouts) and control problems (four walks) during his first five major-league relief innings. He'll get another chance eventually but for now will attempt more fine-tuning at Iowa. Rotowire.com Today, 1:08 pm

    • White Sox designate Woodford for assignment
White Sox designated RHP Jake Woodford for assignment.

Advice: Woodford was hit hard on Thursday as he allowed seven runs in four innings against the Red Sox. That’ll be his last appearance in Chicago for awhile. The club has seven days to trade Woodford or place him on waivers. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm

    • Covers two innings in rehab start
Junis (shoulder/head) struck out three over two perfect innings in his rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: According to MLB.com, Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Junis reported no issues with his shoulder coming out of the rehab appearance, his first at any level since he was placed on the injured list April 6. The Brewers haven't yet decided on a role for Junis once he's ready to come off the 60-day IL, but with injuries beginning to pile up in the rotation, the right-hander could slot into a starting role once he gets fully stretched out in the minors. After throwing 21 pitches Tuesday, Junis is expected to increase his workload when he makes his second appearance for Nashville on Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 12:44 pm

    • Designated for assignment
The White Sox designated Woodford for assignment Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The move comes one day after Woodford was torched for seven runs on 10 hits and three walks over four innings in a loss to the Red Sox. He's being replaced on the roster by Jonathan Cannon, who will also likely take Woodford's spot in the rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 12:10 pm

    • Taking rehab program to Arizona
Almonte (shoulder) has reported to the Cubs' spring training facility in Arizona and has been cleared to resume mound work, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: He'll likely throw multiple side sessions in Arizona before facing hitters in live batting practice or simulated games, prior to heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment. The reliever has been on the 15-day injured list since May 11 with a right shoulder strain. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

    • Getting second start
Poteet is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Dodgers at Yankee Stadium.

Advice: The right-hander will be making his third start of the season for the Yankees and his second straight turn through the rotation. He struck out six over five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) in a winning effort against the Giants last Saturday following his call-up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Unless the Yankees get hit by another injury in their rotation, Poteet's stay in the majors will likely come to an end once Gerrit Cole (elbow) makes his expected return from the 60-day injured list later this month. • Out with knee injury
Uribe was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Nashville on Friday due to a knee issue, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The specifics of the injury are unclear, and Uribe is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday. The 23-year-old picked up three saves early in the season for the Brewers, but he was demoted in early May with a 6.91 ERA and 14:12 K:BB over 14 outings. Uribe was also suspended six games for his role in a benches-clearing brawling just before being demoted, though the ban was reduced to four games on appeal, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The right-hander will have to serve that suspension once back on the major-league roster, but the current focus is getting him healthy. Rotowire.com Today, 8:18 am

    • Falls apart Thursday
Harvey (2-2) took the loss Thursday against Atlanta, coughing up three runs on four hits in an inning of relief.

Advice: Taking the mound with the score tied 2-2, Harvey got two quick outs before the wheels came off, with the rally highlighted by Marcell Ozuna's two-run homer on a slider that caught too much of the plate. Harvey had been scored upon only once in his prior 10 appearances, and the long ball was just the second he's served up this season in 31.1 innings. The right-hander has been generally outstanding as the Nationals' top setup man, posting a 2.87 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 34:6 K:BB, and his 18 holds already has him one away from his career high.
